On Dream of Red Mansions from the Perspective of New Mythology

Abstract： The Chinese classical novel Dream of Red Mansions has two narratives. One is mythological, the other is realistic. However, it is usually treated as a whole and considered as a sequel to a Chinese classical myth about sky goddess （Nvwa）, a sort of new myth extending from the heaven to the earth. The new myth is a kind of examination on earthly matters with its focus ＂love＂, and the theme can be summarized as that life is a dream and love is a fantasy.
