The Teachability of Learner Strategies

This paper will mainly address the rather controversy question in the study of learner strategies,that is,if learner strategies are teachable or not.I say it is controversy be- cause there are many pros and cons to this problem.Investigations from professionals in the field of strategies training have received many mixed results.In this article I shall try to argue that strategies should be teachable. In the first part of the essay,I shall give a brief literature review relating to this issue of the teachability of learner strategies.In this part the definition and different taxonomle8 of learner strategies should be mentioned.In the second part of the essay,I shall try to argue at first that learner strategies are teachable in general.In the third part of the essay I plan to discuss the vaiue of teaching strategies to students.     

Discussion on the Translation of Chinese Ancient Literatures

The Chinese ancient literature has a long history.More and more foreign friends give strong interest into reading and learning it.However,not all the foreign people are proficient at classical Chinese,the metre and rhyme of Chinese poems,thus,translators have to translate these words into English or other languages,which brought a discussion about whether the Chinese ancient poems can be translated or not.This paper starts from this very point,to analyze current situation of the research on Chinese ancient literatures translation,taking Chinese ancient poems as examples,to discuss this topic,and to give opinions and possible solutions.     

Beyond stigmatization of children with difficulties in learning

In the Albanian schools settings does not exist religious discrimination, neither gender discrimination, but there exists a discrimination, as unfair against children called ＂difficulty＂. The children who drop out of school are by far less numerous compared with those who start school, but who are not properly treated, so that they can progress the same as other children. The object of this article is the children with learning difficulties, the causes of these difficulties. One of the reasons, among many others, why this secret dropping out of school happens is also difficulty in learning that quite a few number of pupils have, which are not known to everyone, and consequently are not treated by all the teachers, or by the other people who surround the child, condemning him to a school failure and slim chances to succeed later in life. It has often been pointed out that to define the causes of these learning difficulties it is not an easy task. A large number of factors intermingle bringing about the hell of learning for some children. If it is impossible to intervene in different organic damages （even they in many cases can be prevented though）, at least those depending on people can be avoided by offering a favorable environment, showing fondness towards them and making efforts to help these children. Above all, the authors have to be willing, to know and be able to do this as parents and precisely as teachers.

Translation Study from the Perspective of Cognitive Linguistics

Different approaches to translation study are based on different views of meaning understanding.Under cognitive linguistics,translation is not viewed in terms of equivalence,or in terms of rewriting or recreation.The cognitive resources constructing the same the similar meanings by different languages may be quite different because different languages have developed different ways of prompting the required cognitive construction.By examining the construal shifts or transformation made by different translators,we can describe how translator establishes linguistic cues to activate meanings in the target text.In this paper,we elaborated on the application of cognitive linguistics in translation study.

The proposed algorithm can also be accommodated into the computer-aided design （CAD） of a DC machine, which normally runs at extremely low speed or standstill.

The rapid structured literature review as a research strategy

A diversity of sources of literature encompassed by the management disciplines appears to result in a growing need for a systematic methodology to map the territory of management theory. As such, when scoping out a study, structured literature review （SLR） can be considered as a means by which any critical, central literature might be considered. However, there is little guidance, or evidence, of this being undertaken for the purposes of small scale projects such as undergraduate or masters＇ dissertations. This paper reports four case studies of master＇s degree students following management programmes of undertaking a structured literature review （SLR） and the issues and problems they had to encounter during their journey. The findings from the case studies suggest that in terms of time to complete and the volume of output required in terms of word count, Tranfield, et al＇s （2003） approach to SLR＇s, whilst suited to doctoral level research is not appropriate generally when dealing with undergraduate and masters research projects. Therefore, this paper provides accounts of the experiences of four students who undertook SLR for their undergraduate or master＇s degree dissertation. The paper identifies that these students had to deal with a new set of conceptual problems relating to this ＂unorthodox＂ approach to a postgraduate research dissertation in coming to terms with new paradigms of enquiry that are not normally taught as part of a traditional research methods course. This was despite gaining a greater depth of insight into the subject area through a more rigorous and structured manner. The paper presents alternative remedies by way of a rapid structured literature review （RSLR） model. This would appear to be more appropriate to the conducting of small scale literature based research projects when used with undergraduate and master＇s degree students than SLR identified for other research activities.

A Study on the Iconicity of English Language

Throughout the history, arbitrariness put forward by Saussure has been regarded as one of the most designing features of language. Saussure claimed that there is no interrelationship between the signifier and signified, or such relationship can’t be testified but conventional. Later, the famous linguists Peirce and Haiman, who have made great contribution to the ever-heated theory of iconicity, reveal another feature of the language. The purpose of this paper is not to deny the arbitrary nature of language, but to suggest that the nature of language is a combination of arbitrariness and iconicity.

Language and mediality： On the medial status of ＂everyday language＂

The medium of （oral） language is mostly disregarded （or overlooked） in contemporary media theories. This ＂ignoring of language＂ in media studies is often accompanied by an inadequate transport model of communication, and it converges with an ＂ignoring of mediality＂ in mentalistic theories of language. In the present article it will be argued that this misleading opposition of language and media can only be overcome if one already regards oral language, not just written language, as a medium of the human mind. This paper fall back on Wittgenstein＇s conception of language games to try to show how Wittgenstein＇s ideas can help us to clear up the problem of the mediality of language and also to show to what extent the mentalistic conception of Chomskyan provenance cannot be adequate to the phenomenon of language.
