Everybody staying at a certain place long enough needs to know where the toilet is. I tried to find one when I first visited the Divinity School Library, the oldest school in Yale University: I tried to find the signs with words such as WC, Ladies, Bathroom, and Washroom. I used all the knowledge I had about toilet, but I could not find one. My common sense told me that it was impossible not to find one in the library, so I kept trying. Eventually I found a door on which was a single word: WOMEN.  相似文献

Motorbike and I
My friends and I always find an excuse to ride a motorbike. I personally think it is one of the funniest things to do in Guilin. The first time I did it I had to admit I was a little bit nervous. I had never been on a motorbike before and I always thought there was a big possibility of failing off the bike, for the road was too bumpy.  相似文献

Early one morning a man called for a taxi to take him to the airport, which was a couple of miles down the highway. He patiently waited for about thirty minutes, and called the taxi company again to say that cab had not arrived. This dispatcher assured the gentleman that it was on the way. However, several minutes later, he was still waiting. He had to call a third time, saying, "I need that taxi in a hurry. I have got to make that flight to the West Coast that is due to leave in thirty minutes."  相似文献

1.Move MoreMake it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends; mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool; it's a stress buster. Think "move" in small increments of time. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute aerobic dance class or tai chi or kickboxing. But that's great when you're up to it. Meanwhile, move more. Thought for the day:Cha, Cha, Cha…Then do it!  相似文献

I started to open the letter, hoping to find some clue(线索).Then I saw the date line-1924.The letter had been written almost sixty years earlier.  相似文献

On a hot summer morning in 1989 I finished packing my things in my flat in Dublin. Two suitcases were not enough to hold them all so I had to use plastic supermarket bags for the remainder. My friend Tom arrived in his car to take me to the airport. After coffee at the airport we shook hands and said goodbye and it was only then that I noticed my hand was shaking. My voice was also shaking and my breath was coming out in uneven waves. Tom was my good friend from schooldays and in saying goodbye to him I was saying goodbye to so many good memories, saying goodbye to my country.  相似文献
