A Cross-National Study of Computer News Sites: Global News,Local Sites

The Internet is not only an object of and a tool for study; it is also both simultaneously global and local. In order to address how global and how local it is, this study compares the news content of 1 week from four different computer news web sites in four different countries (using four different languages). These sites use the same code base and all strive to be the same in terms of computer culture. They are global in their reach and in the news they cover, yet they are all local in terms of language and geography. They are ideal locales to study how forces of the global and the local play out on the highly connected Internet, using Google language tools for translation. Findings were surprising in that they showed very little in terms of a pattern of any sort. This is similar to a 1953 UNESCO study of newspapers, but strange in that given the passing of 50 years and the connectedness of the Internet, greater overlap was expected. Link destinations for stories that were on more than one site were also examined, and the Japanese site had more in common with the American site while the two European sites were more alike in this lens. This is also surprising, given that an East/West split was expected. Little work in this specific area was found, and this study highlights some of the questions and methodological difficulties that need to be addressed.

全球的一体化进程彰显了中外交流的重要性和必要性,对于新闻翻译的研究也因此愈发受到重视。鉴于不同的英汉语体和意识形态,中英新闻之间的差异成为翻译工作者普遍关注的问题。从基础层面的词汇出发,文章探讨了不同意识形态下,新闻词汇的特点和选择,并在此基础上归纳总结出两大翻译对策——异化和归化,以及译者在研究新闻翻译时应当具备的素养。     

中英新闻语言的修辞对比研究

语言的修辞现象带有很浓郁的文化属性。由于中西方文化和语言特点的差异,中英新闻语言也表现出了很大的不同。本文拟从修辞的角度对中英新闻语言的相似和不同进行探讨,希望能加深读者对汉语和英语语言特点的认识。     

基于改进TF-IDF的中文网页关键词抽取——以新闻网页为例

结合新闻网页的内容特征对中文网页关键词的构成特点进行阐述;对经典的TF-IDF加权公式进行改进,构建一个综合考虑多种影响因素的候选关键词评分加权公式;对SharpICTCLAS分词进行改进,增加位置标注;选择评分较高的词作为候选关键词,利用词的位置标注进行关键词抽取优化操作,将切碎的候选关键词进行组配,形成正式抽取的关键词。实验结果表明:该方法明显优于基准方法,能够抽取到令人满意的关键词。     

Conceptualizing and Measuring the Social Uses of the Internet: The Case of Personal Web Sites

The researchers working on information society measures have recently started to consider how people use the Internet not only as a tool but also as a platform for social relations. As the ultimate objective of information society measures is to provide reliable guidelines for social policy, finding criteria for separating “positive” uses of Internet from “negative” ones is an important task. This article employs the concepts of communicative and strategic action as defined by Habermas for that purpose. A general conceptual typology of three communicative and three strategic social uses of Internet is offered, which can be applied to measure uses of any of the Internet's interactive services. A specific empirical application to social uses of personal web sites demonstrates that the deduced measurement instruments achieve satisfying levels of validity and reliability.

在简要说明城市国际竞争力评价体系相关内容后,重点对杭州与香港、新加坡在经济总量规模、社会经济发达程度、经济外向程度及经济结构等方面进行对比分析,指出杭州在这些方面存在的差距。在此基础上,就充分发掘杭州的竞争优势、把建设生活品质城市作为杭州独特的定位、以一种全新的理念提升杭州的国际竞争力提出了建设性的建议。

我国对外技术依存度究竟是多少?——基于全球化视角的测算

对外技术依存度是我国测度创新型国家建设进程的重要指标。本文提出基于全球化视角的对外技术依存度测算方法,考虑了外资企业的影响,使指标反映的内容更加全面。基于现有统计数据,计算了近十年的对外技术依存度,并预测了未来十年的对外技术依存度。分析表明,2020年创新型国家对外技术依存度目标是基本能够实现的。     

中美高校图书馆网络空间链接特征的比较研究

从中美93所高校图书馆网站中抽取40个作为样本,考察了揭示网络空间规模、链接数量和影响力三个方面的10项衡量网络链接特征的指标。通过对中美高校图书馆网络空间链接特征的比较分析,明确了中美两国在网站建设等方面的差异,并为我国高校图书馆网站建设提出了几点改进建议。     

改革开放以来我国对外报道研究现状与趋势分析

改革开放以来,我国新闻媒介的对外报道日益增多,有关对外报道的研究也渐成规模。本文通过梳理国内对外报道研究的相关成果及主要观点,从对外报道的内外环境、媒介机构、受众与传播效果、信息采集与内容制作、报道策略与方法等方面概括我国对外报道研究的现状,探讨对外报道研究存在的问题和发展趋势,指出今后的对外报道研究应当重点关注全球传播市场竞争对策、新媒体领域的拓展空间,以及如何利用新媒体的优势加强对外报道的传播技巧与效果,扩大对外报道的受众面及影响力等问题。     

Global Landscapes: A Speculative Assessment of Emerging Organizational Structures within the International Wine Industry

Abstract

As a rapidly evolving sector the international wine industry represents an interesting subject for analysis. Over the past two centuries the industry has experienced a number of major innovations and direction changes. The organizational shifts involved in these changes have been profound. From a monopolization of wine culture through the nineteenth and much of the twentieth century by Europeans, to the emergence of New World operators and their democratic influence, the international wine industry now stands at the edge of another major paradigm shift. This paper traces the industry’s historical changes and speculates on the implications of such issues as global production, distribution, technology transfer, branding and the escalation of mergers and alliances. It argues that with the increasing global tendency of the industry, ‘New’ and ‘Old World’ distinctions may blur and disappear. Furthermore, as the wine landscape continues to evolve, we may well see a new set of rules, where the emergence of localized branding, an enhanced role for small to medium enterprises and the decline of national industries results in an irrevocable reconfiguration of the industry.     

中国高新技术产品国际竞争力的比较分析

基于OECD的分类标准,利用显示性竞争力指数和贸易专业化指数两个指标对1999—2008年中国高新技术产品的国际竞争力进行了比较分析,结果显示:与美国、德国、日本和新加坡相比,中国高新技术产品的整体国际竞争力较弱,但不同产品存在显著的差异。10年来中国高新技术产品整体国际竞争力得到了一定的提升,但不同产品同样存在显著的差异。据此结果,中国应该调整高新技术产品贸易和高新技术产业的发展战略。
