情感因素直接影响着学生的外语学习效度。影响学生情感的因素包括:社会、学校、家庭、自身、朋友、教师等。本文结合文献及教学经历从教师层面阐释了教师的个性品质、知识结构及精彩课堂对学生情感的微控作用,并提出了更好地发挥教师对学生情感微控的相应对策,以期在一定程度上激发学生积极情感,提高学生的外语学习。

论高校英语教师在研究性学习中的角色转变

研究性学习是学生在教师的指导下,以问题或课题为内容,以研究为手段主动地提出问题,分析问题,创造性地获取知识和经验的学习活动。在研究性学习中,英语教师的角色必须进行相应的转变。即由知识的传授者转变为学习的参与者、组织者、促进者和引导者;由一桶水转变为一条流动的河;由关注学生的成绩转变为关注学生的发展。     

从高校网络教学过程看教师的角色

网络教学的特点决定了网络教学过程的程序化，这就要求网络教师重视网络教学过程的每个环节，并分别担当起引导、探索、讲授、监督、操练、检测和资源建设的角色。     

The Role of the Teacher

Despite the popular belief that fun has a positive impact in learning contexts, empirical research on fun in the classroom has been limited. To extend research in this area, the goal of this study was to develop and validate a new scale to assess fun in the classroom and examine its relationship with student engagement. The multi-stage scale development effort resulted in a two-dimensional measure, including fun activities and fun delivery. Fun activities reflect a variety of hands-on exercises and ways to promote social involvement among students. Fun delivery is more instructor-focused, including the use of humor, creative examples, and storytelling. Interestingly, fun delivery, but not fun activities, was positively related to student engagement. These findings suggest that not all fun is equal and highlight the need for additional research to validate the impact of fun on meaningful student outcomes.     

The effect of short-term educational travel programs on environmental citizenship

Short-term study abroad is the fastest growing area of international education and there is increasing interest in the role of modified applications of this form (e.g. faculty-led, field/environmental, and/or educational travel) in influencing global citizenship. Using an empirical database of over 650 students registered for a study abroad course in sustainable development offered in Australia and New Zealand, we explore the effect of short-term educational travel programs on environmental citizenship. We also identify differences among key student characteristics (past study abroad experience, gender, and program destination) in influencing citizenry. Results show that participation in the educational travel program significantly moderates (decreases) the difference in environmental citizenship scores for first-timers (vs. those with past experience in study abroad) and program destination, but increases the difference in environmental citizenship for males vs. females. Implications for destination image and national brand marketing of environmental-oriented educational travel programs are discussed.

Quality Control in the Primary School: The Head's Role in Supervising the Work of Classteachers

This study investigated the differences and similarities in the impact of school leadership on student mathematics achievement in different global regions using TIMSS international data. Three-level unconditional and conditional hierarchical models were fitted to the data in each country. The findings showed that the variables of teacher professional development and interactions with other teachers at the student level had inconsistent influence on student achievement outcomes across countries. In all but one of the countries in the sample, the proportion of economically disadvantaged students was related to student achievement. In England there were significant differences on several key variables.

The Teacher in the Two Year College

Interest in the use of technology in the classroom continues to grow. The current study included 100 students who registered for a 200 level child development class at a private university in Northern Virginia. Students were from 4 different sections taught by the same professor in different semesters. Two of the sections used a textbook. The other two used an online virtual simulation program. Results revealed that students using the simulation program had exam scores that were significantly higher than those for the sections that used a textbook. Students using the program reported that it helped them relate to class material, was more engaging and interactive than a textbook, and helped them connect class material to the real world.     

大学英语教师课堂话语的个案分析

教师话语是大学英语课堂的重要交际媒介,它对于课堂教学的组织和学生的语言习得都很重要,而且其对促进课堂师生交流、培养学生语言学习能力以及教学的发展都有着深远的意义。因此本文通过一节录像课对师生的话语量、会话结构、提问类型以及反馈方式四个方面进行研究和分析,结果发现以学生为中心的教学模式更利于学生的语言习得和能力的培养。     

The Graduate Course in Pedagogy: Survey of Instructors of College Pedagogy in the United States and Canada

Although numerous universities offer graduate students opportunities to develop their teaching, few studies probe the credit-bearing graduate course in college teaching. A survey of 105 instructors of graduate pedagogy courses in the US and Canada explored their preparation, professional appointments, students, and assignments. Results showed diverse institutional units offer college pedagogy courses, which are taught by instructors with substantial preparation, most frequently to multidisciplinary groups from diverse majors. Many instructors assign teaching statements, though specifics differ. Comparison to the authors' earlier case study reveals an emerging, recognizable, and international course type that coheres in structure, timing, and at least one key assignment. The ubiquity of college pedagogy courses recommends substantial institutional investment, scholarly analysis, and professorial discussion to align them with the contemporary goals and standards of graduate education.     

基于元认知的大学英语翻转课堂模式实证研究

基于元认知理论,实证研究翻转课堂教学模式在《大学英语》课程中的应用,并就该模式对提高学生自主学习能力的效果进行评估。该教学模式以Moodle为网络平台,引入元认知策略,引导学生 通过设计学习计划、建立学习档案、参与在线学习+课堂教学、建构双层评价体系等步骤,激发学生使用元认知策略,增强学生的学习自主性、自我管理能力、学习成绩和自信心,提高了对《大学英语》教学认可度。
