Fingerprinting the mind

Until recently the identification of the authorship of written works has—like that of paintings—been largely subjective, but the application of the computer to analysis of literary structure has opened up important new possibilities. It has shown that simple frequency patterns are of much less diagnostic value than groupings of words and their position in sentences. Stylometry, as this new investigative method is called, has the merit of knowing no language barriers—it is equally applicable, for example, to classical Greek, English, and Swedish.

一种干涉条纹快速滤波算法

提出了一种快速干涉滤波算法,解决了传统干涉滤波方法速度较慢的问题.首先对2天线的单视复图像共轭相乘产生干涉复数据,进而对该数据进行方位向多视处理,并对实部和虚部分别快速均值滤波产生干涉条纹,最后对干涉条纹进行快速准中值和均值滤波.在滤波过程中,充分利用了相邻像素滤波时的窗口信息来最大程度减少运算量进而提高滤波速度,保证了滤波质量.通过对实测数据滤波结果的分析比较,证明了该算法的有效性.

加入世贸组织是改革开放进程中具有历史意义的一件大事。本文就加入WTO后，我区农业农村经济发展将产生什么样的影响进行探析，提出了入世后我区农牧业发展的对策意见。认为：满怀信心、敞开胸怀迎接入世是我们应抱的态度。     

A fast string-searching algorithm for multiple patterns

The string-searching problem is to find all occurrences of pattern(s) in a text string. The Aho-Corasick string searching algorithm simultaneously finds all occurrences of multiple patterns in one pass through the text. On the other hand, the Boyer-Moore algorithm is understood to be the fastest algorithm for a single pattern. By combining the ideas of these two algorithms, we present an efficient string searching algorithm for multiple patterns. The algorithm runs in sublinear time, on the average, as the BM algorithm achieves, and its preprocessing time is linear proportional to the sum of the lengths of the patterns like the AC algorithm.

一种快速有效的相似视频检索方法

提出了一种新的相似视频快速检索方法.根据视频的时空分布统计得到图像特征码和视频单元,通过统计视频单元数量度量视频相似性.为了适应可扩展计算的需要,提出了基于聚类索引表的检索方法.通过对大规模数据库的查询测试证明该相似性检索算法快速有效.     

A fast design technique for robust industrial controllers

This paper provides a new fast design method for robust industrial controllers via majorant systems in the frequency domain. The proposed methodology allows to establish several fast design techniques for a broad class of industrial controllers of plants with internal and/or external delays, parametric and/or structural uncertainties, and subject to disturbances, when an analytical model of the plant or data acquired from simple experimental tests are available. The provided design and control techniques are more general with respect to the Ziegler-Nichols ones and their numerous variants, which, in some cases, do not guarantee the control system stability.The used key idea consists in increasing the frequency response of the process to be controlled with the frequency response of a simpler system, also of order greater than one, with external delay, which allows designing, using simple formulas, controllers of PI, PID, PIDR, PI2, PI2D, PI2DR, PI2D2, and PI2D2R types. The designed controllers always guarantee stability margins larger than those of appropriate reference systems. Therefore, good performance of robustness of the stability and tracking precision of smooth references, with respect to parametric and/or structural uncertainties and/or smooth disturbances, are always guaranteed.The stated general methodology and various performance comparisons, also about the tracking precision of references with bounded first or second derivative, are illustrated and validated in several case studies, experimentally too.     

A fast BER evaluation method for LDGM codes

Low-density generator matrix (LDGM) codes have recently drawn researchers’ attention thanks to their satisfying performance while requiring only moderate encoding/decoding complexities as well as to their applicability to network codes. In this paper, we aim to propose a fast simulation method useful to investigate the performance of LDGM code. Supported by the confidence interval analysis, the presented method is, for example, 10⁸ times quicker than the Monte-Carlo computer simulation for bit-error-rate (BER) in 10⁻¹⁰ region.     

A class of fast fixed-time synchronization control for the delayed neural network

This paper deals with the synchronization control of a class of delayed neural networks using a fast fixed-time control theory. By employing Lyapunov stability theory, a novel sufficient criterion is derived such that two neural networks can be synchronized within a fixed-time. Compared with some existing results, the proposed controller can render two neural networks faster synchronized. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the criterion.     

A fast procedure for the calculation of similarity coefficients in automatic classification

A fast algorithm is described for comparing the lists of terms representing documents in automatic classification experiments. The speed of the procedure arises from the fact that all of the non-zero-valued coefficients for a given document are identified together, using an inverted file to the terms in the document collection. The complexity and running time of the algorithm are compared with previously described procedures.

A fast and simple assay to quantify bacterial leukotoxin activity

BackgroundMannheimia haemolytica is the primary bacterial pathogen in causing bovine respiratory disease with tremendous annual losses in the cattle industry. The leukotoxin from M. haemolytica is the predominant virulence factor. Several leukotoxin activity assays are available but not standardized regarding sample preparation and cell line. Furthermore, these assays suffer from a high standard error, a prolonged time consumption and often complex sample pretreatments, which is important from the bioprocess engineering point of view.ResultsWithin this study, an activity assay based on the continuous cell line BL3.1 combined with a commercial available adenosine triphosphate viability assay kit was established. The leukotoxin activity was found to be strongly dependent on the sample preparation. Furthermore, the interfering effect of lipopolysaccharides in the sample could be successfully suppressed by adding polymyxin B. We reached a maximum relative P95 value of 14%, which is more than seven times lower compared to current available assays as well as a time reduction up to 88%.ConclusionUltimately, the established leukotoxin activity assay is simple, fast and has a high reproducibility. Critical parameters regarding the sample preparation were characterized and optimized making complex sample purification superfluous.     

A fast retrieving algorithm of hierarchical relationships using trie structures

Case structures are useful for natural language systems, such as word selection of machine translation systems, query understanding of natural language interfaces, meaning disambiguation of sentences and context analyses and so on. The case slot is generally constrained by hierarchical concepts because they are simple knowledge representations. With growing hierarchical structures, they are deeper and the number of concepts to be corresponded to one word increases. From these reasons, it takes a lot of cost to determine whether a concept for a given word is a sub-concept for concepting the case slot or not. This paper presents a faster method to determine the hierarchical relationships by using trie structures. The worst-case time complexity of determining relationships by the presented method could be remarkably improved for the one of linear (or sequential) searching, which depends on the number of concepts in the slot. From the simulation result, it is shown that the presented algorithm is 6 to 30 times faster than linear searching, while keeping the smaller size of tries.
