Distance Learning Librarianship Research Over Time

Abstract

This paper informally presents the results of a study using a combined survey/interview technique that asked experienced extended, distance and/or distributed library services librarians for their advice to novice librarians in the field. The primary recommendation is to build relationships. Other strategies are offered in the areas of marketing, gathering information, evaluating policies, remaining flexible, keeping up with technology, and using the ACRL Guidelines for Distance Library Services.     

国外嵌入式图书馆服务研究进展

在大量文献调阅与成功案例研究的基础上,对20世纪以来国外嵌入式图书馆服务的理论与实践进行梳理,认为嵌入式图书馆服务的概念逐步深入人心、理论与实践框架日益清晰、嵌入式馆员越来越受到人们青睐、嵌入式实践遍地开花、学术机构的嵌入式服务独占鳌头、不断探索嵌入式技术与应用等几大研究进展,希望能为我国的图书馆服务创新提供借鉴与启示。     

中国图书馆事业发展综合水平指数测度研究

评价图书馆事业发展水平是科学认识图书馆事业发展状况和存在的问题,指导图书馆明确定位,提高图书馆服务社会能力的重要举措。然而目前学界重视评估,缺乏水平性评价,绩效评价基于投入-产出-效果的线性逻辑结构,缺乏对技术和环境因素的考虑。文章通过对图书馆事业发展水平内涵界定、评价模型分析,构建了包括图书馆事业投入、图书馆事业产出、图书馆事业发展环境、图书馆事业发展效益和图书馆事业发展新技术利用五个方面的、封闭式的、具有反馈功能的逻辑评价系统。并对图书馆事业发展水平指数进行测度。     

比较图书馆学研究模式浅析

本文是比较图书馆学基础理论研究的一个侧面.在参考、借鉴其它有关理论的基础上,以单学科(图书馆学科内)与跨学科的类分作为比较研究模式的基础,逐步划分其它细类,试图建立一个比较全面、合理的涵盖比较图书馆学研究内容的研究模式.     

美国黑人图书馆事业发展研究

美国黑人图书馆事业在整个美国图书馆事业中占有重要的地位。在黑人馆藏、黑人图书馆员及其教育、独立黑人图书馆、黑人图书馆专业组织及黑人图书馆事业研究等方面要素的推动下,美国黑人图书馆事业大致经历了萌芽、奠基、发展、转折和今天的繁荣时期,黑人图书馆事业的发展历程反映了美国不同历史时期社会对待种族问题的态度,是美国社会民主进程的一个缩影。     

Reference Librarianship

Abstract

Changes in the practice of Reference Librarianship as well as some practical and philosophical traits for success in this field in the 21st Century are discussed. There are brief summaries of specific elements of technological change that quite likely will have major impacts on library service delivery and some discussion of historical trends that have or have not prepared the field of librarianship to meet the demands of service in the coming decade.     

论图书馆员职业的专门性

文章对图书馆员和图书馆工作人员进行分析,认为图书馆职业包含图书馆员职业,并且在国内外对专门职业认定特征的基础上归纳总结了图书馆员职业的九大特征,同时通过对当前图书馆员职业面临的问题进行了深入分析,从而得出图书馆员是一门专门职业,图书馆中的其他工作人员属于准职业或者半职业,他们是相互平行的这一结论。

International Librarianship

TheAfrican Journal of Library, Archives and Information Science(AJLAIS) is 5 years' old. Despite its relatively young age, it has become the most consistent and reliable journal for information professionals in Africa. This study is an analysis of the papers covered in the first five volumes (1990–1995). Sixty-nine papers are analysed including the status of the authors, gender, country of origin, and types of research. The type and origin of cited documents the authors used in writing articles were also explored. When compared to previous studies, this study reveals an increase in the number of publications from Africa. Of particular interest is the increase in the number of female contributors. The major areas of interest are information technology, rural libraries and status/image of librarians.

笔者利用赴台湾进行图书馆学术交流获得的信息,从图书馆事业管理角度对台湾图书馆行业立法、社会定位、协作与辅导、专业人员招聘与使用方面进行了研究。     

影响中国图书馆事业发展的相关因素分析

中国图书馆(学)之所以落后，原因是多方面的，有经费问题，有管理问题，有人员问题，有教育问题，但是，归根到底，更多的是管理体制问题。     

The Research University and Education for Librarianship: Considerations for User-Centered Professionals in Libraries

Research libraries and schools of library and information science education face a similar challenge, namely how do they fit into the university of the future? To explore this challenge some limits must be made on the range of discussion. First, this paper looks at librarian education programs that operate within research universities and are expected to strive to fulfill the mission of a research institution. Second, for the sake of discussion, the library in the research university is characterized-recognizing that this topic will be explored more fully by other contributors to this volume. Third, librarian educators are often disarmed by trying to address at every turn the full spectrum of concerns regarding preparation of librarians and information professionals. This paper focuses on the preparation of librarians for the research environment recognizing that some of the issues addressed here relate to the preparation of all librarians.     

Education for a Law Librarianship:

The current era of planning for library service in the University of California began in the mid-1970s with the development of the Universitywide plan. Although the organization and academic programs of each of the nine campuses are independently administered by campus chancellors, the libraries are centrally budgeted. Library planning at UCLA to match campus-specific needs has required, therefore, the creation of a sophisticated complex of committees, task groups and external organizational relationships for various staff members. Planning is a primary continuing function of the administration of the Library.     

图书馆学外延化与内涵性的整合研究

在科技浪潮的推动下,图书馆发生了巨大的变化,传统的图书馆学思想理论已经不适用于现如今的图书馆发展模式。新形势下,必须突破传统研究的束缚,将图书馆学外延化和内涵性两方面整合起来研究,才是未来发展的导向,才能更好地推动图书馆学学科建设。
