CAS, BP join hands for commercializing clean energy

CAS and the BP Group, one of the world's largest oil, gas and petrochemical companies, have jointly announced that they will co-establish a Clean Energy Commercialization Center (CECC). The Memorandum of Understanding for the initiative was signed on 1 August in Shanghai. CAS Vice President JIANG Mianheng and BP Managing Director and Chief Executive Iain Conn were present to witness the event. Earlier, Mayor of Shanghai Municipality HAN Zheng met with representatives of the two sides.     

CAS, Guangxi to join forces for eco-environmental restoration in Karst areas

CAS has recently signed a protocol with the Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to jointly rehabilitate the depleted ecosystem in the local Karst areas. Early and effective partnership has been formed between the two sides to eliminate the local poverty with S&T means and improve the ecological setting in the Karst areas of the Region. Since the conclusion of a cooperative pact between the two sides to exploit the stony mountains of the region in 1993, for example, a batch of key research results and effects of applicable demonstration has been achieved.     

Novel progress in clean energy partnership between CAS and BP

On behalf of their respective organizations, CAS Vice President LI Jinghai and BP Group Chief Executive Iain Conn recently put their names on an agreement for the partner selection and technology roadmap principle for the Clean Energy Commercialization Center (CECC), a joint venture between the two sides. The two leaders reviewed with satisfaction the development of CECC over the past year.

CAS, Thai S＆T ministry to further cooperation

"Clean Energies Facing the Future," a cooperative research program jointly organized by CAS and the BP Group, has made encouraging progress, say experts at an annual sum-up workshop held on 31 July and I August at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics(DICP) has been entrusted as coordinator of the cooperative program between the two sides.

The work of the group focused on two research directions within the scope of solid state chemistry and physics, namely intermetallic compounds and inorganic borophosphates and related compounds. Cooperative work has been carried out at both sides, either through the exchange of students and coworkers or by sharing research facilities. The outcomes of the collaboration are justified through joint and partner group facilitated publications, joint contributions at scientific conferences, co-supervised students, exchange visits of members and joint scientific reports.
