Fujian＇s Folk Arts of Spring Festival Displayed in Macao

In the Spring Festival 2005 in Macao, an exhibition on Fujian and Jiangsu‘s folk arts of spring festival was held in the art museum next to Golden Lotus Square which was built to celebrate Macao‘s return to the motherland. At the exhibition entrance which was decorated in typical south China‘s green tiles and gray walls, a pair of red spring festival couplet immediately brought visitors into Chinese new year.

Convergence of Civilizations： World Heritage Sites in Croatia Exhibited in Beijing

The exhibition ＂World Heritage Sites in Croatia＂,under the auspices of Chinese Cultural Ministy and co-presented by Center of International Cultural Exdhange and Croatian Embassy in Beijing,opened in the newly-built Boyi Gallery on October 26.Some 80 guests from Chinese Cultural Ministry ,diplomatic missions in Beijing adn the art circle of Beijing attended the opening ceremony.     

Recent and Forthcoming Events

The exhibition “Buryat＇s Spirit： Rus- sian Artist Dashi Namdakov＇s Works” was recently on view at the World Art Museum in Beijing. The exhibition displays the artist＇s 68 masterpieces that he created in various periods, in- cluding 56 sculptures and 12 paint- ings. As a descendant of Buryat peo- ple, Dashi creates works that depict subjects of Lamaism, Shamanism, Buryat epics and Siberian myths. His sculptures unveil a mysterious world, mix decorative and symbolic elements of folk art with academic approaches of realism, and show interaction be- tween Eastern and Western cultures. The exhibition will last until January 4, 2015.     

Chinese Book Fair Held in Ulan Bator,Mongolia

On October 7, a ceremony was held in Mons, Belgium to kick offthe Cultural Capital of Europe 2015. Mons was elected the Cultural Capital of Europe 2015, the fourth Belgian city that has been given this honor. In 2015, more than 300 cultural events will be held in Mons, ranging over drama, music, literature, fashion and visual arts and including a contemporary Chinese art exhibition.     

Chinese Murals Displayed in Kennedy Center

Eight visual art exhibitions highlighted the Festival of China last October, the largest Chinese cultural exchange event ever taking place in America, including three terracotta warriors excavated in Xi＇an, a sculpture and installation exhibition planned by renowned Chinese curator Prof. Fan Di＇an, a cloth and patchwork display entitled ＂Chinese Red＂designed by famous Hong Kong artist Ye Jintian, a fashion exhibition entitled ＂New China Fashion＂ co-planned by overseas Chinese designers Tan Yanyu and Wang Weiwei, and the firework show entitled ＂Tornado＂ by Cai Guoqiang. Among them, the most significant are the two mural works created by Prof. Sun Jingbo from Central Academy of Fine Arts.

A large-scale cotemporary art exhibition entitied “Left Wing“and Planned by celebrated indepedent curator Gu Zhenqing opened on decemer 20,2003 at Left Bank Community in Zhongguancun,Beijing‘s answer to Silicon Valley.The exhibition eatured mew artworks by a group of the most active contemporary Chinese artists.     

New Concepts Give Life to Purple Sand Art

China New Concept Purple Sand Art Exhibition was held recently in Baiyefeng No. 5 Hall in Beijing. The one-month exhibition offered Beijing people an opportunity to appreciate vitality of the old purple sand art in modern times. Purple sand, unique to Yixing, Jiangsu Province, has become the ideal material for tea things since the Ming and Qing dynasties. The special techniques developed over several hundred years have helped to perfectly integrate material, design and function.

Russian Laser Music Show Ignites Beijing
