高职教育的快速发展对高职院校实践育人工作提出更高的要求。通过分析高职院校育人实践的现状,结合工作实际,提出以主题工作坊的形式提升高职院校育人实践效果的整体构想。在阐述工作坊设立的实践意义的同时,对主题工作坊的组织形式和活动开展方式进行探讨,并结合学生社会实践指导工作坊的典型案例来剖析主题工作坊实践育人的工作过程及其作用。  相似文献

During the past several decades, the Korean higher education sector has experienced tremendous expansion, while the quality of teaching and research has not improved very much. Despite the fact that higher education had to rely on the private sector for most of its finance and provision, market competition among higher education institutions has, until recently, been heavily restricted by the government. We argue that the government should try to incorporate more market-based policies in order to upgrade the quality of teaching and research at higher education institutions. An earlier version of this paper has been presented at the workshop, ‘Upgrading Korean Education in the Age of Knowledge Economy: Context and Issues’ sponsored by Korea Development Institute and the World Bank, October 14–15, 2002, Seoul, Korea. This article is about impact evaluation. A case study of a workshop in health education/promotion is described in which an impact evaluation was included in the initial planning stage of the workshop and carried out six months after the work-shop. Workshop directors and sponsors of continuing education programs are keenly interested in how workshop experiences and materials are used to enhance participants' performance back on the job. Workshop directors are frequently too busy to carry out impact evaluations. Guidelines for conducting valid evaluations are needed.The present study was conducted to determine the extent to which the participants followed through on their own plans which were written out on the last day of the workshop. Results indicated that the materials, information and strategies included in the workshop were used and most participants implemented their plans to a moderate or great extent. The survey also yielded information and participant preferences useful in planning future workshops.  相似文献

What are the ramifications of current changes in the higher education landscape in the UK for the ways in which teaching staff perceive their teaching practices? What impact are funding cuts, increases in student fees and the concomitant increased workloads having on faculty morale? How might this influence ‘quality cultures’ in teaching in media, communications, cultural studies and related disciplines, and higher education more broadly? To investigate issues around teaching quality enhancement and teaching quality assurance in the changing higher education environment in the UK, we designed an innovative ‘Teaching Exchange’ (TE) workshop, which ran during 2010 and 2011 in Media and Communications departments at five diverse higher education institutions around England. Drawn from discussions with over 40 faculty members, this paper provides an account of how our TE workshop participants viewed the current structural constraints on teaching quality in regard to: (1) changing teaching loads, (2) the marketisation of degree programmes and (3) the internationalisation of student bodies without adequate support structures. In reporting on these challenges to quality in teaching, this paper contributes to the generation of alternatives to the existing top-down bureaucratisation of teaching quality control.  相似文献

Although progress has been made, greater efforts are needed to promote faculty diversity at the college and university levels, especially in STEM fields. Thus, it is important to elucidate best practices both for increasing awareness of diversity issues pertaining to higher education and for implementing change. This article focuses on the outcomes of a diversity workshop for college and university faculty hosted by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, Division of Science and Research. More specifically, it elucidates how participation in the workshop translated into practice at the faculty participants’ home institutions.  相似文献

Abstract

Strong teacher education programs acknowledge the importance of a partnership between teacher education and public school faculties and the important role mentor teachers play in the education of student teachers. Studies suggest that mentor teachers trained in supervision are more effective than those who are not. This article describes the development, implementation, and evaluation of a workshop for mentor teachers that reflects the collaborative effort of university and public school faculties. The particular focus of this workshop was on giving feedback to student teachers. Evaluation data suggest that mentor teachers felt the workshop provided helpful information.  相似文献

This article describes a recent study with undergraduate and post graduate chemistry students and concerns their understanding of the role of models in chemistry. The principal technique used was the semi‐structured workshop Interview Involving models. The study highlighted the value of this technique in Identifying concept difficulties in chemistry and in exploring students’ views on science education issues in general. The article considers the potential of the semi‐structured workshop interview and makes recommendations for its Inclusion into a wide variety of assessment and evaluation procedures in higher education.  相似文献

目前现代学徒制模式下,高职高技能人才培养存在着校企双育人主体机制还不健全、教学模式不顺畅、校企课程交融不深入、教学评价体系不完善等系列问题,高职高技能人才培养质量还不能满足社会经济发展要求。对此,文章从学生技术技能培养、综合职业素质养成和社会人才需求的视角出发,重点引入省级技能大师工作室高技能人才培养平台,与学校、联盟企业联合组建“校企室”三方协同的现代学徒制高职高技能人才培养模式,搭建“校企室”三方育人主体的现代学徒育人平台,构建涵盖“通识、岗位、专项”三核心、四阶段的现代学徒制课程体系,创建多维度技术技能训练和实践的“专业实训室+企业现场+大师工作室”三场所构成的现代学徒制实训基地,建立“教、学、做、工、培、训”交替融合的现代学徒制教学实施模式,建立三方育人主体的现代学徒制人才培养标准,以及“柯氏四级评估模型”多元参与、四级评价的现代学徒制人才培养质量评价方法,并在数控技术专业试点,成效显著,为高职院校同类专业开展三方育人现代学徒制人才培养提供参考与借鉴。  相似文献

This study involved a workshop designed to support biology teachers in conducting birdwatching activities with their students and to promote place-based environmental education in Turkey. The instruments for collecting data were a workshop questionnaire and interviews. The findings revealed that initial response to the workshop was positive; participating teachers reported that the resources and strategies motivated them to conduct bird studies with students. They identified barriers and noted that the place-based education approach might help overcome many of these barriers. After the workshop, it became clear that participants’ initial intentions to integrate birdwatching into their lessons were challenged by lack of confidence and time. To gain deeper insights into the outcomes of the project, the project coordinator used action research strategies to reflect on her practice and reveal implications for her continued efforts to promote bird and environmental education. She kept a journal, used reiterative reflection, and content analysis to analyse workshop evaluations and interviews. The coordinator recognized potentials and challenges for facilitating birdwatching and environmental education as part of her teaching career. This study shares some of her efforts to provide ongoing support and emphasizes that facilitation of environmental education needs time, commitment, and passion.  相似文献

Invasive species are one of the main threats to biodiversity worldwide. Even though they are identified and recognized as such by the Portuguese law, the majority of the population is not yet aware of this problem. Aiming to increase awareness about biological invasions among young students, a workshop on Invasive Plant Species was organized at the Botanical Museum of the University of Coimbra. A total of 170 teenager students from five schools participated in the workshop. Three activities were prepared, focusing on: (1) identification of invasive plants, (2) competition between native and invasive plants and (3) control of invasive plants. One year later, questionnaires were sent to the participants, aiming to appraise workshop effectiveness, and this questionnaire revealed that these students know more about invasive plant species than a comparable group of students that did not participate in the workshop. The results clearly showed that practical informal education activities may be effective in raising public awareness. Questionnaires were essential to evaluate the knowledge acquired and retained by the students during the workshop.  相似文献

Minority student attrition and underachievement is a long-standing and widespread concern in higher education. It is especially acute in introductory science courses which are prerequisites for students planning to pursue science-related careers. Poor performance in these courses often results in attrition of minorities from the science fields. This is a particular concern at selective universities where minority students enter with excellent academic credentials but receive lower average grades and have lower retention rates than majority students with similar credentials. This paper reports the first year results of a large scale peer-facilitated workshop program designed to increase performance and retention in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at a selective research university. After adjusting for grade point average or SAT-Math score, workshop participants earned higher final grades than nonparticipants in Biology and Chemistry, but not in Physics. Similar effects on retention were found. While, positive effects of the program were observed in both majority and minority students, effect sizes were generally largest for minority students. Because of practical constraints in Physics, implementation of the program was not optimal, possibly accounting for the differential success of the program across disciplines.  相似文献
