学生支持:高等教育大众化进程中亟需审视的理念

学生支持(student support)是西方开放教育和远程高等教育中的基本理念,学生支持所具有的特点、作用、意义以及高等教育大众化进程中高等教育的特点以及变化,决定了学生支持的理念是高等教育大众化阶段共存于所有高等教育机构的一种理念。     

关于赛博文化挑战教育的几点认识

在刚刚拉开帷幕的 2 1世纪 ,随着信息高速公路在全球的延伸 ,一种新的文化形式———赛博文化将会给人类的生产、生活方式带来巨大影响 ,同时也向教育提出了新的课题。本文主要从教育观念、组织形式和德育的视角对赛博文化给传统教育提出的挑战进行分析 ,以期引起教育工作者的思考与关注。     

Student Learning in Higher Education

There has been relatively little systematic experimental investigation of individual differences in student learning. The findings of mainstream laboratory‐based research are of limited value, though they are generally consistent with the results of surveys of student performance. Nevertheless, it has been possible to demonstrate qualitative and commensurable variation among individual students in both the outcome of learning and the process of learning, and in both formal experimental tasks and in normal academic studies. There has been limited success in attempts to manipulate cognitive processing by varying the anticipated form of assessment or by inducing variations in motivational factors. However, there are radical effects of matching the instructional procedures to the subjects’ cognitive approaches. More recent research has demonstrated considerable variation within individual subjects across different learning situations. Current discussion concerns the consistency, variability, and flexibility of individual learners, the identification of causal relationships, the validity of introspective reports and the adequacy of traditional research methodology.     

Student Learning in Higher Education: a Commentary

This commentary begins by summarizing the five contributions to this special issue and briefly recapping the background to the topic of student learning in higher education. Narrative and systematic reviews are compared, and the relative value of different bibliographic databases in the context of systematic reviews is assessed. The importance of measures of effect size is stressed. The relationship of the five contributions to early research on levels of processing and approaches to learning is discussed, along with the presage–process–product model of student learning and historical discussions that are relevant to the current theoretical discussions. This field has benefited from the development of more robust instrumentation, but researchers must continue to develop new kinds of measure, including online measures of students’ strategy use. Researchers need to consider ways of enhancing the quality of student learning through the use of problem-based curricula and other student-centered approaches. Finally, it is suggested that researchers into student learning need to evaluate whether their concepts, methods, theories, and findings are valid in online environments and to investigate how curricula in higher education can build upon those in secondary education.

目前高职院校学生管理面临着思想政治教育方法落后、学工队伍建设不完善、基层团组织战斗力不强、过度强调就业率、非传统因素的不断出现、学生管理条例落后、学生组织自主性不强等方面的挑战。为此,高职院校要不断创新学生思想政治教育的方法、方式、渠道,重视团支部的建设,制定在校学生校外兼职管理办法,制定符合时代特征的学生管理制度,大力建设学生社团等。

African Higher Education and Training: Opportunities and Challenges

Although African countries have been continuously expanding their tertiary education systems since independence, these systems remain inadequate for fulfilling the demands being placed on them. Indeed, in many cases, the progress made has been set back by war, disease, and natural catastrophe. Various forms of non-traditional delivery are required, and several examples of distance networking are detailed, including the African Virtual University. A strategic approach to the expansion of access to and opportunities in tertiary education is required making use of assistance from the international partners of African universities.

Changing Understandings of 'Public' and 'Private' in Higher Education: the United Kingdom Case

Where does higher education in the United Kingdom sit today in terms of the public–private distinction, and what does that distinction mean in the higher education context? This article considers these questions and related issues, noting how the particular example of the United Kingdom compares with other systems internationally. Following a historical exploration of the meaning of ‘public’, ‘private’ and other related terms, an examination is undertaken of their currency during the post‐war period in the UK higher education system. This is exemplified through an analysis of the two major British higher education reports of the last 50 years – the Robbins Report of 1963 and the Dearing Report of 1997. It is argued that the contemporary UK higher education system could be seen as suffering from the worst of both worlds, trapped between and suffering from the seemingly contrary pressures of privatisation and nationalisation.

高校海外分校建设现状、挑战与经验探析

近三十年来,高校海外分校在全球范围内取得了长足的发展,参与国数量和办学数量均稳步增长,形成了欧美国家主导输出、亚洲国家输入的格局。根据对已有研究和相关办学案例的分析,海外分校普遍面临着概念边界模糊、输出国政府缺位、招生压力、母校—分校冲突等跨文化挑战。中国尚处于输出海外分校的初级阶段,概念和标准不清晰、办学成效还未显现。作为应对,坚持国际标准—本土调适的理论范式,在实践中将这一理论范式转化为协调多方利益的质量保障机制,是海外分校可持续发展的共同策略。
