Developing Motivation and Cognitive Learning Strategies Through an Undergraduate Learning Community

This study describes the effects on student motivation and cognitive learning strategies of an approach involving an undergraduate learner-centered community of learners approach to instruction. Six learning communities were created using the following objectives: integrated courses, active and collaborative learning, and opportunities for learning through information technology and library resources. Instructors attended ten workshops designed to assist them in developing the learning communities according to the objectives of the program. Results indicate significant changes in motivation and cognitive strategy use by the end of participation in the learning community. Within the motivation subscales, students in the learning communities reported significantly higher levels of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, more internal control of their learning, and self-efficacy, along with significantly lower levels of test anxiety and task value. Within the learning strategies subscales, students reported increases in their use of rehearsal strategies, organization strategies, critical thinking, time management, and the use of peer learning and help-seeking behaviors.

学习者与在线内容的交互被认为是决定网络教学和学习有效性的重要因素之一.学习环境中的任何事情总是一触即发,支持学习者与在线内容进行交互.当学习者与内容交互时,内部的反思性思考与对话发生了.本研究试图比较在线学习管理系统中研究生课程和本科课程中学习者交互之间的差别.基于所提出的研究学习者与在线内容交互的框架,研究者收集了学习管理系统日志和学习活动数据库中的相关数据;基于学习者与在线课程内容的交互模式和行为对收集到的数据进行了分析;并对教师和学习者在在线论坛中的讨论和交流的内容进行分析,尤其调查了已发生的交流的维度、深度和分类.基于上述研究成果.研究者认为应该加强网络内容的设计和传输,从而提升开放远程学习中在线学习环境的有效性.     

Undergraduates' Work Based Learning and Skills Development

Research findings on graduate employment inthe UK continue to highlight the importance thatemployers attach to the general knowledge, attitudesand social skills that graduates possess in additionto specific disciplinary knowledge and expertise. Additionally, work based learning is increasinglybeing viewed as an important vehicle by whichundergraduates can develop personal and social skills,as well as gaining knowledge of how organisationswork. In this paper I will argue that although developments in undergraduate work based learning doraise a number of issues for higher educationinstitutions and for employers, such developments havemuch to offer the broader education policy of lifelonglearning.     

Peer Learning and Support of Technology in an Undergraduate Biology Course to Enhance Deep Learning

This study offers an innovative and sustainable instructional model for an introductory undergraduate course. The model was gradually implemented during 3 yr in a research university in a large-lecture biology course that enrolled biology majors and nonmajors. It gives priority to sources not used enough to enhance active learning in higher education: technology and the students themselves. Most of the lectures were replaced with continuous individual learning and 1-mo group learning of one topic, both supported by an interactive online tutorial. Assessment included open-ended complex questions requiring higher-order thinking skills that were added to the traditional multiple-choice (MC) exam. Analysis of students’ outcomes indicates no significant difference among the three intervention versions in the MC questions of the exam, while students who took part in active-learning groups at the advanced version of the model had significantly higher scores in the more demanding open-ended questions compared with their counterparts. We believe that social-constructivist learning of one topic during 1 mo has significantly contributed to student deep learning across topics. It developed a biological discourse, which is more typical to advanced stages of learning biology, and changed the image of instructors from “knowledge transmitters” to “role model scientists.”

近年来,针对学术不端行为教育部和各高校出台了一些防止学术不端行为的措施。为防止研究生学位论文出现学术不端行为,绝大多数高校在研究生学位论文评阅答辩前进行学术不端行为检测。经过大量调研,结合研究生学位论文学术不端行为检测工作中积累的经验和思考,从研究生科研素质、导师职责和管理监督制度等方面提出建议,希望对高校开展此项工作起到积极作用,有效预防研究生学位论文学术不端行为的出现。

数字游戏学习日益成为军事培训教学的未来发展趋势。模仿极受欢迎的、商业的、在全球范围运行的大规模多玩家在线游戏（简称MMOGs）,Quake等小规模的军事MMOG将虚拟现实多玩家游戏与现实情景相整合,以促进高保真培训、协同工作、问题解决和沟通。虽然数字游戏学习（DGBL）作为一种有价值的基于问题的学习媒介越来越流行,但问题仍然是如何利用游戏支持高阶思维技能,如问题解决和决策？本文分析的个案研究旨在通过分析商业网络游戏玩家的博客,了解玩游戏过程中所培养的高阶学习技能。研究还考察了多玩家游戏在支持高阶学习方面的合作性本质。本研究的目标是证明MMOGs作为一种有效的高阶学习媒体,从而进一步探讨MMOG在军事绩效培训中的作用。     

网络深层学习的发展研究

大学生及成人网络学习处于浅层学习,他们的网络深层学习能力有待提高。文章首先简要给出了深层学习的一般过程;结合国内外高校的科研项目和技术工具的开发情况,介绍了网络环境下深层学习的研究进展及技术现状;借鉴MOOC(大规模网络开放课程)等学习技术手段,就如何改善网络学习的效果给出了一些策略和建议。

规范性是学位论文的基本要求.近几年,研究生学位论文失范问题尤其突出.从学位论文的选题、标题、关键词、引言以及文献综述方面入手,剖析论文写作过程中常见的失范问题,并提出针对性建议.     

Learning Styles and Strategies of Postgraduate Students

Research by Pask has suggested that matching and mismatching teaching strategies with learners'preferred learning strategies may have considerable effects of learning. The study reported here sought to explore the extent to which a group of experienced and successful learners, such as postgraduate students, might be expected to be versatile learners, in the sense of being able to learn equally well from holist and serialist learning materials. Eighty-three postgraduate students completed two questionnaires designed to assess learning styles. Twenty-six students also took two tests designed to assess their competence in learning from materials designed to suit holist and serialist learning strategies. Only two out of 26 students scored equally well on the tests of holist and serialist competence. The study also examines the extent to which holist and serialist competence may be predicted by relatively'quick and easy'questionnaire instruments. In 19 out of 23 cases such competence could be predicted from responses to a number of items from one of the questionnaires. Implications for further research are discussed.

随着世界经济贸易的不断发展,评价人才的标准已经将英语的表达能力加入其中,而在英语的表达能力当中英语公共演讲能力也越来越受到了用人单位的重视。因此,为了有效培养非英语专业研究生使用英语进行公共演讲的能力,该文在对现阶段研究生英语演讲技能现状进行分析的基础之上,探讨了在英语口语能力测试评价体系中合理融入英语演讲技能考核的内容、考核的方式和效果。进而得出结论:融入了演讲技能的研究生英语口语测试评价体系不仅可以引起学生对演讲技能的重视,还可以促进学生将学习到的演讲知识和技能进行内在的转化以实现实际运用。
