2000年以来我国目录学研究综述

在分析2000年以来我国目录学研究著述的基础上,从目录学基础理论研究、目录学史研究、目录学应用分支研究、目录学教育研究、国外目录学研究等方面阐述新千年以来我国目录学研究的现状.指出2000年以来我国目录学理论研究和应用研究都取得长足进展,尤其是网络目录学和数字目录学的提出有力地推动我国目录学科学研究和目录工作事业的快速发展.

Bibliographic standards

Among the standards most important to librarians and their clients are bibliographic standards, which focus on providing bibliographic data in machine-readable form to facilitate technical processing of acquisitions, cataloging, and sharing of these data among libraries. Beacher Wiggins discusses bibliographic standards in general and then focuses on the Cooperative Online Serials Program—CONSER—a cooperative program for bibliographic control that is now more than a decade old.

Summary

Bibliographic protocol (bibp) is a new web-based protocol designed to provide library-based services for bibliographic links on the web. Links to books and journals may be easily created using bibp:ISBN and bibp:ISSN hyperreferences. A decentralized service model ensures that local bibliographic servers take precedence over publisher and global servers. The required resolution technology is widely deployed on the Internet and bibp-Z39.50 gateway software is available for implementation of library-based services. Future developments include additional support for article-based linking and server-to-server protocols for metadata sharing.

Bibliographic Instruction

Initiating a bibliographic instruction program, maintaining interest, and sustaining that interest over an extended period of time requires careful planning and thorough organization. A wellrun public relations effort can mean the difference between success and failure. This paper explores the public relations demands placed on health science librarians seeking to initiate, improve or expand a bibliographic instruction program. The initial step will be to define public relations. Secondly, the role of communications in the public relations process will be analyzed. Finally, a variety of promotional techniques will be presented. Each is designed to facilitate long-term user support for bibliographic instruction.

对两个英语专业术语——“bibliographic(al)”和“bibliographic(al)control”的通行中文译法提出了质疑,以事实说明“bibliographic(al)”不仅可译作“书目的”,在很多情况下还可译作“文献的”;而“bibliographic(al)control”则应译作“文献控制”才更符合理论提出者和阐释者的初衷。     

Bibliographic Instruction:

In April, 1994 Mercy College completed an extended self-study in preparation for a team visit from The Commission on Higher Education, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. This article examines the impact of institutional evaluation on the library's bibliographic instruction program, and its evolution into an information literacy program responsive to changes in student demographics, curriculum content, assessment methods, and communication technologies. Three initiatives are described: (1) an effort to increase course-integrated information literacy instruction in the general education requirement; (2) development of an information literacy assessment plan; and (3) recruitment and training of information literacy peer tutors to assist public services librarians. Although still in a formative stage, eight future directions are recommended for successful implementation.
