英语作为一门语言,遵循一定的语法规则。英语语法和汉语语法一样是语言运用范畴中的一种纽带和桥梁。对于中国学生来说,学好英语掌握一些基本的语法知识就显得尤为必要。然而,在当前畅销的众多英语语法著作中,不少英语语法术语的汉语译名晦涩难懂,许多学生和老师对其望而却步。基于这种现状,笔者在大量参考国内外英语语法专著的基础上,根据自己多年从教经验以及对英语语法的体悟,对目前存在异议的几个英语语法术语的汉语译名进行商榷。同时,借此机会抛砖引玉,以期促进英语语法术语汉语译名的准确、统一,以便于学生更容易理解掌握,最终实现提高英语语法教学实效性的目的。  相似文献

This article examines the relationship between the discipline of ‘English Literature’ and the contemporary multilingual classroom. It argues that, although our field has often been cast as a kind of corrective to the ‘problem’ of language diversity by helping to teach language norms, literature can – and should – be made a preeminent space for students to reflect on their own experiences of language diversity, and to translate this into self‐reflexive critical tools to think about language in literature. As an example of this kind of practice in action, the article discusses the experience and outcomes of a project in the English Literature department at Queen Mary University of London, Reading/Writing Multilingualism, which involved year 10 and 12 students from two local secondary schools who have English as an additional language.  相似文献

近年来,多模态话语理论在外语教学界引发越来越多的关注,基于其理论进行设计的教学软件受到外语界的普遍关注。该研究旨在探讨高中生对多模态英语语法教学的适应性,采用了实验法、调查法和个别访谈法,并以116名高中生为被试对象。实验结果表明,多模态英语语法教学具有传统语法教学无法比拟的优势,能把文字、图像及其他听觉、视觉符号相结合来引导学生发现和分析语法规则,进而深刻理解、准确使用语言形式。  相似文献

This article presents two separate but related studies on native-English speaking (NES) instructors’ teaching writing practice in Chinese universities. One study is a case study that explores the teaching practice of three NES instructors’ writing instruction in a southern Chinese university as well as students’ responses to their practice. Another study takes on an auto-ethnographic approach, in which the researcher retrospectively examines his own writing instruction as a college NES instructor in China with his new understanding of Bakhtin’s dialogic theory and theories of multi/biliteracy. The pairing of these two studies, methodologically and conceptually, illustrates the NES instructors’ teaching experiences in China from both an outsider and an insider’s perspectives. The findings of the studies indicate that one of the key factors that hinder the effectiveness in teaching writing in English as a foreign language (EFL) contexts is the doctrine of ‘native fallacy’ widespread in the EFL field. This is an ethnocentric view of treating English as a hegemonic practice that drives EFL students to reach native-like English proficiency in both their English speaking and writing. The article concludes with a call for a paradigm shift in teaching and learning in the EFL field, which requires fundamental changes in the view of English from ‘native English’ to World Englishes or an international language for today’s globalized community.  相似文献

Reacting to incoherent English teaching in the 1930s, Percival Gurrey probed the psychological processes involved in literary appreciation. He sought ways of teaching poetry that avoided lifeless tasks such as labelling ‘poetic devices’. Later, in the 1950s, he wrote about the processes involved in learning to write. At a time when psychology dominated educational discourse, he was in touch with new developments in both literary criticism and linguistics, and he evolved a bridging theory of language, learning and development that spanned philosophy, psychology and literary theory. I connect Gurrey’s sense of wholeness of response to his reading in Coleridge. By returning to debates surrounding Coleridge I show how a new appreciation of what language accomplishes emerged. Gurrey discovered that writing has a central place in children’s development as a whole. From such hard-won discoveries a unified theory of development in talking, reading and writing duly emerged.  相似文献

Language in Use     
The conference set up one commission to look at the particular place of the English lesson within a framework of Language across the Curriculum. Such a view of language in school could have awkward implications for English: that either a pupil's growth in language might be provided for by the work of the whole curriculum, or that the English lesson should ‘service’ a pupil's language for his work in other studies. Two questions arise: are there certain responses and experiences which pupils need time for and which can only be allowed for in the English lesson ? And are there particular studies in language that only the English lesson can take responsibility for ? In order to set this discussion on its way, Peter Doughty was invited to talk about the special work which his team at University College, London, had been doing on language in English, and which has now been incorporated into material known as Language in Use. We print here an extract from his paper, published by the Schools Council, a fuller version of which is available on application from Great Portland Street, London, W.1. 建构主义学习理论强调的"建构"、"协作"、"情境"、"互动"、"过程"与基础英语教学要求的过程性、任务性、协作性与情境性不谋而合;而多媒体技术为两者的契合提供了技术保障。通过实证性综合研究和个案研究,分析基础英语多媒体教学模式及特点,并探讨了基础英语多媒体教学效果及其对培养学生英语综合应用能力的作用。研究表明:多媒体技术从根本上优化了基础英语课堂教学,为学生综合能力的培养起到了积极的作用。  相似文献

Peter Medway’s paper ‘English and Enlightenment’ (Changing English, 2010) and David Stevens’ response to it, ‘Critically Enlightened Romantic Values and English Pedagogy: A Response to Peter Medway’ (Changing English, 2011), address the relative merits of the quest for truth and the place of aesthetic response in English. It is suggested here, however, that each paper contains the kernel of a counter-argument to the one being presented and that, taken together, both papers might be augmented by attention to The Abolition of Man – Reflections on education with special reference to the teaching of English in the upper forms of schools by C.S. Lewis. This article develops ideas introduced briefly in a previous issue of this journal and considers one important aim of English teaching in schools to be the fostering of ‘just sentiments’. It argues that educational values are necessary to augment Enlightenment and critically enlightened Romantic values if English teachers are to facilitate spiritual as well as moral development and do justice to the diversity of both the texts and the students they teach.  相似文献

英语教学的目的是使学生获得一定培养目标规定的知识以及语言综合应用能力,自主学习能力。介绍苏格兰英语互动教学模式,运用建构主义教学理论和认知教学理论研究适合我国学生实际的英语课堂教学的改革思路,并以此对陕西工业职业技术学院的公共英语课堂教学进行改革试点。结果表明,要推行高职英语互动教学模式必须在一个教学单元内做到以下三点:首先要以教师为主导的传授基础知识和训练基本语言技能为基础;其次是以学生为主体进行互动交流,实现其交际和沟通能力;最后是以师生互动为中心进行团体互问活动来提高学生,巩固、熟练所学的知识和技能,拓展学生的思维空间,培养学生的自主学习能力。  相似文献

文学作品是训练语言和思维技能的载体,阅读英语文学作品,有助于了解英语国家的历史文化、哲学观念和艺术传统。在研究生公共英语教学中融入英语文学阅读与欣赏,可以改变非英语专业研究生拘泥于词汇和语法等语言形式的被动式学习,促使他们主动通过阅读英语文学作品来加深对语言文化的了解,并借助内隐认知的自发性成效更好地掌握语言的内在规则,增强语言学习的自信,体会语言世界的快乐。  相似文献
