The Rise and Fall of the Neo-liberal University

The rise of neo-liberal universities over the last 15–20 years has been characterised as an inevitable effect both of globalisation and the associated dominance of capital. In this article we will analyse that rise, seeking to understand how it has come about and its impact on intellectual work. In the final pages of the article we turn towards its fall.     

Professional Socialization and Mode 2 Knowledge in the Neo-liberal University Prototype

ABSTRACT

The National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education conference theme – Leading Beyond the Campus: Driving Change as Experts – responds to public policy demands and signals consequential choices. Many choices are illuminated by the prototype for the Neo-liberal university. Essentially, economic development imperatives give rise to accountability requirements to demonstrate the value-added effects of degree programs and research. Two frameworks – one for professional socialization and the other for knowledge production – invite and necessitate outreach/engagement partnerships and networked improvement communities. These collective action formations facilitate professional socialization/education, fuel knowledge generation/sharing/use, and announce a helping discipline which accepts shared accountability for desirable outcomes and societal impact.     

大学教师的生存方式

大学教师与学生的关系往往是一种教学相长的关系。大学教师在教学过程中得到精神上的回报和学术上的收获;在科研中可以不断发现新知,克服职业倦怠;通过发表论著和获得奖励,得到社会的承认,获得学术声望,从而在学术生涯中获得较高层次的成就感。大学教师要想取得杰出的成就,就应努力追求以学问为乐趣的境界,以学术为志业,以做学问为生存方式。     

Comparing Neo-liberal Projects and Inequality in Education

In this article, I pay particular attention to some of the most important dynamics surrounding globalisation in education—the increasingly powerful discourses and polices of neoliberalism concerning privatisation, marketisation, performativity, and the 'enterprising individual'. While I demonstrate the truly international effects of neo‐liberal policies—and the differential realities they tend to produce in real schools—I also suggest that we cannot simply read off the effects of these policies in the abstract. Their uses and effects are historically contingent. They are at least partly dependent on the balance of forces in each nation and on the histories of the ways progressive tendencies have already been instituted within the state. Yet, I also suggest that any analysis of these discourses and policies must critically examine their class and race and gender effects at the level of who benefits from their specific institutionalisations and from their contradictory functions within real terrains of social power.     

简论新自由主义经济学

新自由主义思潮是与以凯恩斯为代表的国家干预主义相对立的经济自由主义思潮。经 济自由主义与国家干预主义的主要分歧是，经济自由主义反对政府调控，鼓吹市场万能，而国家 干预主义认为不仅需要市场机制，还必须强调政府调控。20 世纪 80 年代以来，新自由主义一方 面是西方国家诱导社会主义国家“和平演变”的理论武器，另一方面是西方国家对发展中国家推 行新殖民主义的理论武器。新自由主义推行到哪个国家和地区，那个国家和地区就会遭到巨大风 险和灾难，甚至成为重灾区。我们要警惕新自由主义企图误导我国的改革开放。     

Individualisation in Swedish Adult Education and the Shaping of Neo-liberal Subjectivities

In this article we have analysed the ways a discourse on individualisation is taking shape within adult education in Sweden, how it operates, and what effects it has in terms of shaping student subjectivity. Drawing on a post-structural theorisation we analyse interviews with teachers and students in municipal adult education and folk high schools (FHS). The analysis illustrates how both institutions contribute to the shaping of individualised subjectivities, although differently. At the end, a general question is raised about what happens with the democratic function of adult education in general when a discourse on individualisation operates in the ways described and, more specifically, asks what is happening to FHS as an educational practice that upholds its self-image as a last bastion of a collective notion of learning and subjectivity and nurturing an educational practice of learning democracy?     

对大学生生活习惯现状与保健行为的探讨

通过运用文献资料调研及问卷调查等方法，对我院部分大学生的生活行为、习惯状况和保健行为等方面的实际情况进行调查研究，发现大多数学生在珍惜健康和为健康投资上做得很不自觉，也很不理性，吸烟、不吃早餐、饮酒、作息时间无规律、缺乏体育锻炼等现象极为普遍，应引起体育及健康教育决策部门的关注。

北京城市学院今天取得的成就是有目共赌的,客观认识学校发展所具有的基础和优势,正确审视我校存在的一些问题,是我校实现从增长向发展转型的关键所在。本文首先总结了北京城市学院发展成功的一些关键因素,然后就学校的生存环境和内部管理中存在的问题进行了分析,并探索了相应的应对策略,以期为今后的发展提供借鉴。     

当前我国普通高校成人高等学历教育的生存空间

在高等教育大众化特别是高等职业教育强劲发展的际遇下,普通高校的成人高等学历教育正在遭遇前所未有的生存和发展困境,其发展空间不断狭窄。主要体现为：普通高校的成人高等学历教育规模不断萎缩;教育质量明显下降;教育职能过于单一。这些现实的困境不仅制约了成人教育的健全发展,而且也影响了普通高校教育功能的多元释放。只有对其作出审慎的反思,才能寻绎化解这些困境的可能路径。     

论大学生党员在学生生活社区和谐建设中的示范作用

学生生活社区的管理一直以来是困扰高校的难题,笔者根据当前大学生生活社区的特点,提出建立一支以学生党员为主体的大学生生活社区服务队伍,探索一条大学生生活社区中学生干部队伍建设的道路,实行一种以大学生党员为核心的＂三位一体＂生活社区建设模式。     

公寓大学生矛盾冲突与管理对策

公寓学生在经济利益、生活方式、人际交往等方面，矛盾冲突频频发生；原因主要可归结为公寓物业管理市场化运作对大学生个人利益的强化以及公寓特殊环境对大学生深层次矛盾的激化两个方面；必须理顺公寓管理体制，深入推进公寓学生思想政治教育和管理工作，努力营造公寓文化氛围，化解公寓学生矛盾冲突。     

丽水学院体育教育专业本科学生生活状况的调查

采用文献资料法、问卷调查法、数理统计法等多种方法,通过分析、研究丽水学院体育教育专业学生课余生活的现状及所存在的问题,找出产生大学生课余生活问题的因素,并通过对这些因素的分析提出相应的、可行的解决课余生活问题的对策,以丰富体育教育专业学生课余生活、提高课余生活的质量,从而为学校、家庭及相关部门正确引导学生合理安排和利用课余时间提供参考。     

基于Living Lab模式的校园创新实践探索

如今校园创新实践逐渐成为校园文化的一部分,社团组织作为校园实践的一种形式,在各大高校盛行。文章基于Living Lab创新模式,以北京邮电大学移动生活俱乐部为例,从社团组织模式、团队建设等方面,描述了这一模式在校园实践中的应用。总结分析了社团建设在这一模式下的改革和创新。从Living Lab的角度,为校园实践寻找一种新的思路和方法。     

Living on the bark

Bark has different characteristics and functions depending on the species of tree. Apart from harbouring a large number of living beings on the body, bark also supports our life on this planet.

德育是教育活动中的重要组成部分。但当代大学德育在"现实世界"中的功效不高,究其原因是忽视了人的"可能世界",没有关注到人的"可能世界"在德育中如何实现。根据人的本质,大学德育的"可能世界"应该是回归"生活世界"的。孔子的实践性德育思想影响深远,当代大学德育可以借助于其思想的实践性回归"生活世界"。其德育思想为当代大学的德育活动提供了思路和方法,从而实现大学德育活动的"可能世界"和人的"可能世界"。
