Learning Assessment and Resource Evaluation： Two Tough Battles of Distance Education Xie Yangbin, Sang Xinmin Abstract：This is a dialogue among two scholars about current development and change of distance education in China. Although significant achievements have been made, many problems also emerged in the third generation of distance education. To solve these problems, the authors argue that building and refining a robust evaluation system is one of the priorities. Besides the evaluation of institution and its learning support service delivery, the components of this new system include various emerging models for assessment of learning and evaluation of instructor, curriculum and resources. Around this priority, Learning assessment and resource evaluation could he the first two breakthroughs in the reform of distance education, with the purpose to improve learners independent learning ability, self confidence and comprehensive quality. A Study on the Relationship between Physical Educational Majors＇ English Classroom Anxiety and English Classroom Willingness to Communicate, by SHI Yu ＆ FAN Weiwei, p.4 This empirical study aims to explore the relationship between English classroom anxiety and English classroom willingness to communicate by using questionnaires and interviews with 218 college physical educational majors. It is found that the physical educational majors have experienced the high level classroom anxiety and low to medium level willingness to communicate. Moreover, students＇ anxieties are negatively correlated with their willingness to communicate.

A Tentative Analysis of ＂Vocabulary Skills＂in A Framework of Reference for EFL Teaching at Tertiary Level in Shanghai, by WANG Zhiqin, p.46 A Framework of Reference for EFL Teaching at Tertiary Level in Shanghai （Trial implementation） is an EAP-oriented guideline for the EFL teaching, which is supposed to shift the teaching objective to serving the studying of academic subjects from teaching language. Vocabulary is an important indicator of the level of English language learning and is the cornerstone tbr listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. An analysis of the targets of vocabulary skills in the two levels （Basic Level and Advanced Level） is significant.

Citation Practice by University Students in English Writing for Academic Purposes, by LI Qiong ＆ GUO Jinchuan, p. 10 Citation is one of the most prominent features of academic writing through which the writers establish the research network based on previous studies so as to construct the social knowledge and demonstrate the membership of the academic community. Through the analysis of 122 argumentative essays by 61 second-year non-English majors, this paper attempts to reveal the citation characteristic of English writing by undergraduates. The findings show that students used few citations. Although they selected material from a wide range of sources, they cited significantly more frequently from the Internet encyclopedias than from academic journals or monographs. The main criteria guiding students＇ selection of sources were accessibility and ease of understanding, while reliability was not their major concern. Integral-verb controlling citation was overused while integral-naming and non- integral citation was underused. In cases of citation strategies, attribution, rhetorically the simplest one, was used predominantly. Importance should be given to source use in teaching English for Academic Purposes and the acquisition of citation skills requires long-year practice.
