LEARNING DISABILITIES PROGRAMS AT COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND FOUR-YEAR COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Students with learning disabilities (LD) from selected Midwest colleges and universities participated in a study to determine the differences between LD programs at community colleges and four-year institutions; the level of satisfaction with college LD programming; and the services most important to students. Focus groups were held at five institutions including two community colleges, two independent institutions, and one public university. Focus group participants included male and female students aged 16 to 56 years and enrolled in freshmen through graduate levels. The literature suggests that the focus of LD programs and the types of services vary between two-year and four-year institutions due to differences in missions and the characteristics of the students served. However, results from the data in the present study reveal that the types of LD services offered among the institutions participating in the research were quite similar, but the quality of services varied. Students at the large public university had difficulty getting note takers, books on tape and tutors, and obtaining adequate assistance from LD staff. Participants from the smaller community colleges and private colleges and universities considered the smallness of their institutions to be a benefit. The LD program was easily accessible and LD staff were always available. Although the participants in the study who had received LD services in high school believed the services at their college or university were comparable or better, existing programs need to be evaluated to identify services in need of improvement.

The Canadian federal agency “Statistics Canada” has made an estimation of the trends of enrolment in Canadian higher education institutions until 1979.     

高校学分制学籍管理实践的几点思考

随着学分制在我国高等学校的推行,传统的高校学籍管理制度出现许多新问题。本文在分析学分制学籍管理特点的基础上,结合作者所在学校学分制学籍管理的实践经验,提出从实施中期淘汰、实行成绩刷新考核制度、实践素质拓展计划、鼓励副修与攻读双学位、建设高素质的学籍管理队伍方面入手,进一步完善学分制学籍管理制度。

高等学校开展大学生心理健康教育工作的意义与工作机制

开展大学生心理健康教育工作是新形势下全面贯彻党的教育方针的重大举措,对培养社会主义事业建设者和接班人有重大的意义。为做好这项工作,各高校应提高认识,积极建立高效的大学生心理健康教育的工作机制。笔者首先阐述了高等学校开展大学生心理健康教育工作的重大意义,然后分别讨论了开展大学生心理健康教育工作的管理机制、预防机制、应对机制、培训机制和保障机制。     

高校新校区建设筹资风险的防范

在当前高等学校新校区建设热潮中,存在许多问题,其中资金问题是最重要的问题之一,加强筹资风险的研究具有重大意义。     

ART APPRECIATION COURSES IN ILLINOIS COMMUNITY COLLEGES

The primary purpose of the study was to determine the content of art appreciation courses in the Illinois community colleges. Other purposes were to determine instructor characteristics, institutional characteristics, and the methodology used to teach the courses. A mailed survey was used to gather the data from the lead art appreciation instructor at each of 52 colleges. Thirty‐six surveys were returned, for a response rate of 69%. On average, nearly four art appreciation course sections, with a range of 1 to 20, were taught at each 2‐year college. Most instructors used textbooks; 15 different titles were furnished by the respondents. Cultural art, art production, and studio art were included in most courses. Numerous art periods and the works of many artists were studied.     

PARTICIPATION OF USA UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES IN CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

The concept of lifelong education encompasses a number of different types of educational programmes e.g. adult education, recurrent education as well as continuing education. The official legal definition of continuing education in the USA Educational Amendments of 1976 to the Higher Education Act states: “Continuing education programme” means post‐secondary instruction designed to meet the educational ‘ needs and interests of adults, including the expansion of learning opportunities for adults who are not adequately served by current educational offerings in their communities.

The following article presents participation by the US universities and colleges in this form of higher education. It is based oh the paper written by Dr. Rosalind K. Loving, Dean of the College of Continuing Education, University of Southern California and presented during the Salzburg Seminar on Continuing Education which was held from 6 to 26 August 1978 in Salzburg (Austria).

高校学生伤害事故中学校的法律责任认定在实践中易生纠纷。本文通过梳理教育机构赔偿责任的法律依据对学生伤害事故进行界定,对高校在学生事故中所负责任性质及高校对学生的教育、管理、保护责任予以明确,在此基础上分析了高校学生伤害事故的归责原则及校方无责任类型。以助正确界定高校在学生伤亡事故中的法律责任。     

高师音乐教育专业构建新课程体系探索

AFRICAN AMERICAN ADMINISTRATORS' EXPERIENCES IN PREDOMINANTLY WHITE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

The purpose of this study was to better understand the experiences of African American administrators in predominantly white colleges and universities. In depth interviews were conducted with eight executive level administrators: six presidents and two associate vice chancellors. The interview process used a phenomenological approach focusing on the participants' interpretations and evaluations of their respective administrative careers. The participants were asked questions relative to their experiences which led them to predominantly white colleges and universities, their current administrative positions and responsibilities, and provided advice to African Americans seeking similar administrative positions.     

论高等学校管理创新的本质特征

在知识经济时代,管理创新作为教育创新的重要内容,以独特的活力引导着教育改革的实施。高等学校是人才培育的摇篮。所实施的管理创新,不仅影响着高等人才素质的培养。决定着人才系统工程的优化,而且还影响着教育现代化的质量和进程,制约着教育创新工程的实现。本文从高等学校整体发展的实际出发,从体制、组织形式、理念三个方面探讨了高等学校管理创新的本质特征。     

西部区域地方高校发展建设的思考

本文分析了西部区域地方高校所处的内外环境,自身的长处和不足,提出了发展建设的战略、目标,原则和当前应作的工作。     

地方性高校学科建设的困境及出路

学科建设是高校工作的重点,是高校建设和发展的核心,而目前地方性高校在学科建设过程中面临着经费短缺、学科队伍结构不合理、研究基地偏少等诸多困难。为了提升自身的学科水平,地方性高校应更新学科观念、加强学科队伍建设、进行学科研究基地建设、加强重点学科及特色学科建设,为学科发展寻求出路,从而进一步提高自身的核心竞争力。     

高校学生组织建设的几点思考

高校学生组织在培养学生诸多社会能力方面具有重要作用.学生组织的建设实际上就是人力资源管理的问题.学生组织容易出现三方面问题,即独立创新意识差、工作与学习失衡、服务意识不强.对此,本文根据管理心理学原理,从人力资源管理的角度,提出高校学生组织建设的四大原则（机制）,即引导机制、激励机制、约束机制、竞争机制.     

对高等院校学生党员教育的思考

大学生是国家宝贵的人才资源,要正视大学生党员教育的现状。大学生党员在发挥先锋模范作用方面具有得天独厚的条件,他们大多是理论学习的标兵和积极工作的表率,但也存在一些问题,包括理想信念淡漠、理论学习脱离实际、进取精神不强。如果注重加强组织队伍建设,学习注重理论联系实际,健全制度、加强群众监督,引入党员导师制,大学生党员教育的效果会有效提高。     

以人为本的高校科研管理理念及其机制创新探索

本文从理论与实践的结合上论证了高校坚持以人为本的人性化科研管理理念的必要性和重要性,并在分析高校科研管理机制中存在的问题的基础上,论述了如何加强竞争机制、激励机制和评价机制的创新问题.     

高校思想政治工作中的若干辩证关系

思想政治工作是党的生命线,高校思想政治工作既是实现社会主义人才培养目标的重要保证,也是大学生成长成才的必要条件。笔者就如何做好新形势下的高校思想政治工作,对远大理想与现实矛盾、理念要求与现实行为、思想政治工作与心理健康教育、思想政治工作与学生全面发展、思想政治工作与学校整体工作以及思想政治工作专职队伍与兼职队伍、传统方法与现代方法等七个方面的辩证关系进行了初步探讨。
