基于网格的远程教学模型研究

在传统的网络环境中,现代远程教育的发展遇到了一些瓶颈,笔者尝试利用网格技术构建了一个新的远程教育平台G—learning,并取得了初步的成果。本文探讨了系统的拓扑结构和功能模型等核心内容,并总结了今后的开发方向。

Collaboration Between Distance Education Faculty and the Library

Abstract

At a university with no centrally administered distance education (DE) program, the library is faced with the challenge of not only identifying but also supporting a rapidly increasing number of disparate DE initiatives. In this environment, a one-size-fits-all approach to inviting and encouraging faculty collaboration in the integration of library research into the DE curriculum was not sufficient. This presentation will discuss various methods used at one university to increase the level of collaboration between the library and distance education (DE) faculty.     

Rethinking Library Service to Distance Education Students: Analyzing the Embedded Librarian Model

Since fall 2009, reference librarians at The George Washington University's Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library have been embedded in online classes through Blackboard within the School of Nursing and School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The authors sought to determine the types of questions asked of the librarian, with the goal of informing future interactions with distance education classes to help develop a standard “protocol” for working with this population of students. Eighty-two questions were categorized and qualitatively analyzed. The findings have prompted librarians to explore tools such as Elluminate Live!, a tool that allows librarians to provide synchronous instruction within the Blackboard environment.     

Distance Education and Virtual Reference

Abstract

Texas A&M University Libraries has been testing virtual reference services since February 2004, but during the fall semester 2005, the Libraries began implementing and actively promoting the services to various target groups. Distance education students were identified as a primary target group for virtual reference services, and as of the fall semester 2005, approximately 1,600 students were enrolled in 190 distance education classes. This paper presents the Libraries plan for promoting virtual reference services to distance education students and faculty and for evaluating the plan.     

Career Paths of Distance Education Librarians

ABSTRACT

A growing number of institutions are offering courses and degrees via distance education; however, distance education librarianship is a relatively new and often less defined field of librarianship. This paper will present the results of a survey to discover career paths leading to distance education librarianship. Based on a survey of subscribers to the OFFCAMP listserv, it asked questions such as: Is there a “typical” career path? Does previous or continuing work in other library units benefit a distance education librarian? What are the most important qualifications for a distance education librarian? Profiles of the education and experience of distance education librarians were analyzed for commonalities. The study concluded that distance education librarians come to their positions from a variety of experience, not always in libraries, but predominantly from library public service departments. A typical career path for distance education librarians is not evident at this time.     

数字图书馆对公务员远程教育培训的支撑研究

从数字图书馆远程教育角度出发,以大连干部在线学习中心为例,结合其远程教育资源的使用情况,探讨数字图书馆对公务员远程培训的教育功能,分析公务员远程教育培训对数字图书馆的需求。针对公务员远程培训存在的问题,提出完善数字图书馆对公务员远程教育培训支撑作用的建议。     

PKM工具在远程教学知识共享中的应用

分析远程教学中知识共享的障碍及现存的问题,通过提出将个人知识管理（PKM）工具引入现代远程教学中,采取一系列的具体应用措施与整个远程教学活动紧密结合,从而有效地改善目前远程教学知识共享所存在的问题,以解决远程教学中知识共享的迫切需要与知识共享障碍之间的矛盾。     

Distance Education Support in University Libraries

Abstract

This article describes the current distance education environment for university libraries and the distance education library services for faculty and students. The authors surveyed selected Association of Research Libraries (ARL) members to determine current services and the changes in distance education library services since the 1996 ARL SPEC Kit Survey. The 2003 survey included the library services listing from the “Guidelines for Distance Learning Library Services: A Draft Revision,” prepared by the Distance Learning Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries, ALA.     

Utilizing WebQuests for Information Literacy Instruction in Distance Education

ABSTRACT

The increasing use of problem-based learning in higher education affords librarians new avenues for promoting the development of information literacy skills among students. Information literacy instruction supports problem-based learning activities by providing students with skills to locate relevant resources for developing solutions to these exercises. The author created three WebQuests (together with tutorials) aimed at promoting faculty-librarian partnerships to deliver information literacy instruction through a problem-based learning approach in the context of course work in a distance learning environment. These problem-based learning WebQuests can be adapted to various disciplines as well as to traditional learning environments. Lastly, these WebQuests promote the development of information literacy skills in students as well as increase their exposure to problem-based learning. doi:10.1300/J106v14n03_03
