In the 19th century, a shift in classroom technology from monitoring to recitation was staged in several European countries. The analysis draws on late 19th- and early 20th century lesson plans that were produced as part of the final teacher examination by students at two Swedish teacher training colleges, in order to explore how the lesson was restructured as a pedagogic text in the course of this transformation. The argument focuses upon the structure and transformation of the lesson designs, the discursive pattern of the text, the narrative involved, and the message or moral reflected in the text. The inquiry demonstrates that a classroom technology originally advocated in order to enhance the teacher's control of pupils and to influence children's minds, thoughts and morality became one instrument in the creation of a school for symbolic representation and meaning-making in a rapidly changing world of modernity. 相似文献

This paper reports on a qualitative study in which three third grade students were presented with a mathematical challenge related to the volume of a cuboid. The task required the construction of containers and the enumeration of the multi-link cubes1 held by each of the containers. The study videotaped and investigated the students working as a group through potentially seven different problem solving categories, and how they dealt with the student-generated mathematical dilemmas that surfaced during their exploration of the original problem. The tapes were examined for the problem solving actions that the students demonstrated, and an analysis of the students' counting strategies and solutions explored the connection between the children's spatial structuring and their use of numerical operations in enumerating 3-D rectangular arrays of cubes. The notions of perseverance and control are considered as they emerge during autonomous problem solving and the mathematical residue that results from the developing understanding of volume is discussed.This revised version was published online in October 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date. 相似文献

In this paper we describe two aspects of an Internet-based lesson plan development project called Science On-Line-Earth and Space Science for the Classroom. First, we discuss the design of the Science On-Line (SOL) Project, which focuses on building a community of practice, appropriate task and setting, and contact with the scientific workplace. Second, we examine strategies teachers used as they approached the task of creating Internet-based science lesson plans for the World Wide Web. Based on the analysis of data gathered during the various project phases, results show that the teacher-developed strategies have varying degrees of effectiveness in facilitating Internet-based lesson plan design, information-gathering, and organization. We describe how the strategies began to evolve into formulated practices for Internet-based lesson development within the SOL teacher community. The SOL investigation develops a case study of the strategies and emerging practices in the context of the creation and pilot-testing of Internet-based lesson plans. This case study may serve as an exemplar of tested Internet-based lesson development strategies and practices for the educational community. 相似文献

Through the qualitative interviews of five implementers of primary school mathematics curriculum, this study addresses the
ways in which mathematics lessons are evaluated. Results show that each evaluator recognizes different aspects of a “good
lesson,” however, among all criteria, the design of the lesson plan, realization of the lesson goals, active student participation,
and mathematical thinking are seen as key indicators in lesson evaluation. The study also shows that student performance is
a major point of concern in lesson evaluation, and some extreme teaching practice has drawn attention and being reflected
by some implementers of the New Mathematics Curriculum. 相似文献
