论专业认同感与图书馆学教育的关系

从四个方面概述近十年图书馆学专业教育领域研究文献,指出其共同忽视了学生作为专业教育的主体.在调查问卷的分析基础上探讨低专业认同感对图书馆学教育的影响,借用"反身性"概念说明专业意识的重要作用.建议图书馆学课程设置变革的同时应重视学生的主体性,及早帮助学生树立正向的专业意识.     

Supporting the Spectrum Scholarship Program: perspectives from the Northern California and Nevada Medical Library Group

The immediate past presidents and current president of the Northern California and Nevada Medical Library Group write to raise awareness of the American Library Association Spectrum Scholarship Program, share their approach to supporting Scholars in their region, and encourage Medical Library Association (MLA) chapters and MLA at large to build stronger infrastructures to support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color librarians who are in school and recently graduated.

Introduction

Shortly after midnight every Thursday morning, a list server in Massachusetts delivers an electronic table of contents message to the Kostoris Medical Library at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research in Manchester, UK. The messageins details of the latest edition of the New England Journal of Medicine, complete with hyperlinks to the full text of the content online. Publishers’ electronic current awareness services have been integrated into the dissemination process of the Library service to enhance the speed of communication and access to full text content. As a means of promoting electronic journal use, a system of e‐mail delivery coupled with fast Internet access has allowed a migration from paper‐based current awareness alerting to a seamless online product.     

The professionalization of health librarianship in the UK between 1909 and 1978

Many strands exist within health information work and during the last century librarians in this field identified themselves through special groups or associations. This paper focuses on the key role of the Library Association Medical Section in the professional development of medical librarians in the United Kingdom up to 1978 when it merged with the Library Association Hospital Libraries and Handicapped Readers Group to create the Medical, Health and Welfare Group. Uniting to form a stronger organization, under the ultimate designation of the Health Libraries Group, was part of an evolutionary process. The invention and promotion of co-operative schemes, networking and educational opportunities for members, the publication of specialized material and the fostering of international relationships during the first three-quarters of the century are illuminated by personal reminiscences from some of the major participants in the field.     

The way we were: health library life seen through the pages of the Medical Library Bulletin of the Thames Regions, 1974-94

The Medical Library Bulletin of the Thames Regions reflected the development of health-service libraries over the 20 years it existed. Originally begun as a practical aid to improving services by encouraging co-operation, improving communication and giving instructive advice, it charted the work of health-service librarians and the growth of their services. The articles contained in it covered professional developments and wider political issues as they occurred, and illustrated the extension of the librarians' knowledge and skills. Leslie Morton, Library Adviser to the British Postgraduate Medical Federation, edited almost every issue, starting at a time when there was little guidance or professional literature available for health-service librarians.     

A Visiting Scholar from the People's Republic of China

During the interval of July 1990 to January 1991, Yu-Mei Wang from Beijing Medical University, visited the J. Otto Lottes Health Sciences Library, University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. Wang's activities while in the United States were to study and observe our medical library. This paper attempts to acquaint the reader with the Beijing Medical University and its library, as well as activities provided by this library's staff for her training. Cross-cultural observations are made in respect to automation, professional education, and materials used.     

THIS is where it's at

The Medical Center Library contracted to provide bibliographic information services for the Tobacco and Health Research Institute of the University of Kentucky. This new department is now an integral part of the Medical Center Library providing reference and literature services in the tobacco and health area. Operating as a quasi-independent unit of the Medical Center Library, THIS (Tobacco and Health Information Services) functions separately in all areas of library operations, or more specifically, as a special library within a library. Its collection differs from that of most libraries in that it consists almost solely of periodical reprints instead of books and journals. The diversity of disciplines which tobacco and health literature encompasses has created the need for the development of a current awareness service for researchers. It is the belief of the author that there is a definite trend toward library collections such as THIS within larger medical libraries, as more institutes with special areas of interest are being formed.     

Health librarians: developing professional competence through a 'legitimate peripheral participation' model

This feature considers the legitimate peripheral participation model in developing professional competencies in health librarianship. It is described how this model was used in the development of a framework for mapping and recognising the competencies gained by new health librarians at the Royal Free Hospital Medical Library. HS.

国外图书馆界应对突发公共卫生事件的反应机制及其启示--以新冠肺炎疫情应对为例

图书馆是保障公民基本文化权益的公共文化机构,在突发公共卫生事件中仍需开展应急管理并向社会公众提供应急服务。文章通过对日本图书馆界、美国医学图书馆、加拿大高校图书馆、澳大利亚图书情报协会、国际图书馆联合会协会和联盟应对突发公共卫生事件中的反应机制进行分析,认为我国图书馆界在应对突发公共卫生事件中,应当在政府主导下,积极推动医学图书馆、高校图书馆和图书馆学(协)会发挥自身的专业作用,构建总体性和专业性的图书馆应急管理和服务机制。     

The changing status of hospital libraries 1984 to 1989: characteristics and services in Region 7 of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.

Economic and political factors have had far-reaching effects on hospital libraries in the last decade, but quantitative evidence of these changes is not readily available. Through periodic evaluation surveys within its multistate region, the Pacific Southwest Regional Medical Library Service, the Regional Medical Library for Region 7 of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (formerly the Regional Medical Library Network) has monitored hospital library changes over the years. This paper compares data from a 1989 survey with similar information gathered in 1984. Longitudinal analysis was performed on responses from 188 hospitals that responded to both the 1984 and the 1989 survey, as was cross-sectional analysis of all responses from both surveys. Results showed a small decrease in the number of hospitals with separate library collections. Staffing patterns had changed considerably, with a drop of approximately one entire full-time salaried equivalent per library and a decrease in libraries managed by a librarian with an M.L.S. The libraries that provide all of a set of predefined core services and resources decreased from 61% in 1984 to 44% in 1989. Libraries with M.L.S. staff were more likely to have core services than those without professional staff.     

日本图书馆职业资格认证标准与实施制度分析

利用文献调查法与内容分析法,解析日本图书馆职业资格认证标准与实施制度,把日本图书馆职业资格认证标准划分为全国性和地区性标准两类,前者包括文部省实施的司书职业资格认证标准、国立大学图书馆支援机构实施的大学图书馆业务能力考试认证标准、日本图书馆协会实施的高级司书认证标准、医学图书馆协会实施的健康科学信息专业人员认证标准,后者包括国立大学图书馆协会中国与四国地区分会实施的图书与学术信息专业人员认证标准。前两种认证标准主要采用学历认证、考试认证、等级认证相结合的交叉认证方式,后3种认证标准采用等级认证方式。5种认证标准基本遵循了解认证信息、向认证机构提出申请、提交材料、审查、颁发证书、证书更新的认证程序。最后归纳总结日本图书馆职业资格认证所具有的四大特点。     

The Medical Library Assistance Act: an analysis of the NLM extramural programs, 1965-1970

The imbalance between medical library resources and information needs of the health professional led to a reexamination of the mandate for the National Library of Medicine. Legislation known as the Medical Library Assistance Act (MLAA) was passed in 1965 which enabled the NLM to (1) initiate programs to assist the nation's medical libraries and (2) develop a medical library network with the establishment of regional medical libraries to link the NLM with local institutions.The National Library of Medicine, through the MLAA, has made available $40.8 million to the medical library community under a competitive grant and contract mechanism for the period July 1965-June 1970. A total of 604 projects has been executed in resources, research and development, training, construction, regional medical libraries, publications, and special scientific projects. An assessment is given of each of these programs and their impact on both the National Library of Medicine and individual medical libraries. In the aggregate, these programs have significantly improved library and information services to the professional health user. The principal limitation has been inadequate funding to accomplish the level of originally stated objectives.     

Book selection and bookfund management at Imperial College Libraries

Book selection has been a rather neglected area of professional concern in recent years. This paper examines the experiences of the Imperial College (IC) Libraries, where there has been a review and reorganisation of book selection practices. The new system harnesses the subject expertise of both Departmental and Central Library staff. This article describes current selection practices at IC, highlighting the differences in approach to the selection of listed textbooks as compared to other monographs. There is also a consideration of the role of users in the selection process and of the use of current awareness tools. The increasing influence of electronic services is discussed.

诚信建设事关图书馆事业建设与发展。图书馆在不断发展建设过程中,要以诚信管理带动诚信服务,用诚信服务体现人本诚信。图书馆必须加强馆员诚信意识培养及诚信文化建设,并构建馆员岗位诚信管理体系,这是图书馆大力倡导诚实守信职业道德的关键。     

知识时代的LIS如何定位和发展

简要地回顾我国（大陆）的图书馆学和情报学教育的发展道路,指出目前LIS面临着知识生产方式转变、学术交流方式变革、社会经济制度再设计、数字不平等、社会对LIS专业认知度不高等诸多挑战,提出要进一步明确LIS教育的定位和发展方向,加强批判性思维能力和信息设计能力培养等对策建议。     

Organizational change in the Medical Library Association: evolution of the continuing education program

"Change" is a critical dimension of contemporary experience. Library associations are not exempt, and they change in ways similar to other organizations. According to some authorities, four phases typify the process: diagnosis, design, implementation, and incorporation. Focusing on changes in the Medical Library Association's longstanding program of continuing education, the authors utilize the "phase framework" to chart that association's movement from a management system depending primarily upon volunteers to one in which professional staff figure prominently. The historical review serves a heuristic purpose for individuals and institutions in identifying characteristic features of the change process.     

Information literacy in continuing professional development of medical practitioners: a Croatian example

OBJECTIVES: This paper reports on the training of medical practitioners in information literacy. The course is carried out by an academic medical library in collaboration with its parent institution and the local physicians' licensing body. SETTING: The University of Zagreb Medical School (UZMS) developed an extensive continuing education programme for residents and practitioners, in partnership with the Croatian Chamber of Physicians. Within this programme, the Central Medical Library (CML) offers a hands-on course on searching and appraisal of medical information. DESCRIPTION: Continuing professional development (CPD) helps physicians update and develop the skills and knowledge they require in their everyday practice. The ability to locate, critically evaluate, and use medical information is an important component of CPD. The CML has developed a course entitled "Finding and Appraisal of Medical Information" which has been reviewed and accepted by its parent institution and the physicians' chamber. The course has been introduced in 2005 on a half-year base. OUTCOME: The course provides participants with the information on the most important medical information resources and with the basic skills needed for their effective usage. An evaluation questionnaire is used to assess the effectiveness of the course.
