In order to increase counselors' effectiveness in cooperative and systemic approaches to problem solving, a large school district offered an in-service consultation program. Two successive training designs were piloted and evaluated. Evaluation of the first training model led to a shortened, revised model that was more efficient and as highly rated by counselor trainees as the earlier, lengthier model. This training program was associated with significant increases in counselor collaboration with faculty and staff. Several recommendations are proposed for further improvements in the training design.  相似文献

This article describes a model for implementing an affective education program which was developed using systems analysis techniques. The following seven independent and interdependent functions are identified and described: obtain community involvement, conduct needs assessment, specify program goals, select program materials, prepare for program installation, implement affective education program, and evaluate affective education program. The use of experts and an affective education advisory board is recommended to facilitate program implementation. In addition, assessment techniques and a team approach for remediation are described.  相似文献

This study examines the relationship of cognitive complexity, counselor anxiety, and client disability condition to accurate empathy on the part of students in training. A sample (n = 28) of students in a graduate counseling program observed a series of eight vignettes of counseling interviews (four clients with disabilities and four without disabilities) and reported a verbal counseling response to a client statement. A significant main effect was found for the cognitive complexity variable only (p < .05). A significant interaction among cognitive complexity, anxiety, and client disability condition (p < .01) indicated that all three factors interact to influence empathy. Implications for research and the training of counselors are discussed.  相似文献

Enhanced interest in supervision training has corresponded with recognition of supervision as a profession in its own right. For many practicing professional counselors, supervision training has traditionally been unavailable. The present research used the Clinical Supervision Questionnaire to evaluate the effect of a supervision training program on the supervision scores of 16 practicing professional counselors who participated in a supervision training program. Participants completed a pretraining and posttraining questionnaire. The findings revealed a significant difference between the pre‐ and posttraining results for the experimental group. This difference was maintained over a 6‐month period. Practical and research implications are discussed.  相似文献

This article describes a cooperative effort of a community agency and a counselor education program in dealing with community alcohol problems. A DWI education and awareness program and a counselor training program in alcohol problems are presented. The training program uses students at four phases of development to counsel court-referred clients. Each phase is described in terms of goals, activity, feedback focus, and expected outcome. This program provides benefits for all involved: (a) students have real-life counseling experiences, (b) the agency maintains contact and uses the resources of university programs, and (c) the university has the opportunity to respond to a current issue in the community.  相似文献

The authors discuss concepts that are related to providing education and training regarding sexual assault, as outlined by the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, as amended in 1992. Currently, the various professionals in schools, including school counselors, are trained separately and have few opportunities to learn about each other's roles, responsibilities, and perspectives. Single case research is proposed as a valuable means of involving counselors in the research process, providing feedback to the counselor and supervisor and gathering accountability data. Yet relatively little research of this type is conducted. One reason for this paucity of single case research is a lack of familiarity. If one is familiar with single case research, it is usually with case study methodologies and not with the intensive N of 1 designs. The purpose of this article is to familiarize the reader with the two major types of intensive N of 1 designs: experimental and association.
