ABSTRACT

A distance learning librarian shares her experience as a member of a faculty learning community devoted to technology innovation in education. Participants in the learning community include faculty from a range of disciplines all working on projects to enhance student learning through instructional technology. The librarian was selected to participate in the community to develop online learning objects using Camtasia. In addition to discussing the practical considerations of developing the learning objects, the poster session will focus on the learning community experience. How did collaboration and dialogue with other faculty affect the project? What did the librarian's participation and unique perspective contribute to the learning community as a whole? Finally, recommendations for establishing similar formal or informal learning communities will be offered.  相似文献

The many concerns over the costs and benefits of higher education have created an often intense dialogue across university departmental borders. In response, many departments have moved to collaborative efforts to reinforce the necessity and usefulness of the Liberal Arts curriculum for students. Academic service departments, including archives, seek to have their resources more actively used by the student base. The authors collaborated on an assignment requiring student use of primary source materials held at the Michigan State University Archives and Historical Collections. The dialogue this assignment created and the projects it produced was of benefit to all involved: instructors, faculty, and students.  相似文献

情境学习理论是近30年来有关学习的重要理论之一,也是学习科学的核心理论基础。本文回顾了情境学习理论的产生背景,探讨了基本概念及其知识观、学习观与评价观,分析了抛锚式学习、认知学徒制、情境教学这三种基于情境学习理论的代表性教学设计模式,最后提出了博物馆场景中的三种情境类别:实物情境、时空情境和实践情境,并总结了情境学习理论应用于博物馆学习设计的五个维度:激发情境兴趣;提供进入真实实践的机会;促进协作与协商;搭建学习脚手架;鼓励观念呈现与清晰表述。  相似文献

Active Learning:     
The authors, a librarian and an economics professor, describe their two-year collaboration teaching a class of fifteen freshmen. The professor taught the class using several active learning techniques based on cognitive learning theory. Over time, the authors realized that this was also the most successful way to teach research skills. It emphasizes analysis, not process, and allows for individuality on the part of researchers. This paper reviews the history of the CIC Electronic Journals Collection Project. The organizational model used by the consortia for this particular project is described, explored and critiqued. Alternative models of organization are presented and explored. Additionally the staffing and equipment needed to build and maintain such a project are described in detail. A special challenge of consortial projects is the need for close coordination and broad communication. Both staffing and organization are discussed in light of these issues.  相似文献
