The nexus between innovativeness and knowledge management: A focus on firm performance in the hospitality sector

While the importance of knowledge management is increasingly acknowledged, many firms do not fully understand the significance of innovativeness in relation to knowledge management and firm performance. Consequently, the objective of this article is to investigate innovativeness and its relationship with knowledge management and organizational performance in an under-examined industry sector and country context. The study methodology was survey-based and took place in the hospitality industry sector in Lesotho, Africa. Findings highlight the importance of knowledge management practices as an important driver of firm performance, where the results emphasize the positive mediating effect of innovativeness on the relationship between knowledge management and firm performance. The study has important practitioner and policy implications, where it is recommended that knowledge management be utilized in conjunction with innovativeness so as to positively influence firm performance. The article delivers a novel contribution to the literature in terms of establishing empirical associations between knowledge management, innovativeness and firm performance in an emerging country context.     

信息沟通、管理控制与战略变化速度的关系研究

综合考虑组织沟通与管理控制方式对战略变化速度的潜在影响,以及组织沟通对企业管理控制方式的影响,研究了通过信息沟通与控制措施来管理战略变化速度问题。基于组织理论和战略管理理论,提出了信息沟通、管理控制与战略变化速度之间关系的概念模型与相关假设,并通过585家国内企业调查数据进行了实证检验。结果表明,信息沟通有利于战略变化的快速实施,重视信息沟通的企业往往会同时采用战略控制与财务控制;而官僚型企业则更倾向于采用财务控制;战略控制会妨碍战略变化的快速实施,而财务控制会促进战略变化的快速实施。     

Mediation effect of business process and supply chain management capabilities on the impact of IT on firm performance: Evidence from Chinese firms

Motivated by the seeming presence of the productivity paradox in China, this research revisits the question of how information technology (IT) affects firm performance. Leveraging the process-based view of IT, we establish a theoretical framework for the mediation factors for the relationship between IT capabilities and performance. Based on a survey of 127 companies in China, we find that a firm's management capabilities to manage both its internal and external business processes fully mediate the impact of IT on firm performance. The two management capabilities in this study are business-process management capability and supply-chain management capability. Our results show that only the coherent integration of IT capability with firm’s ability to optimize business processes and to improve management of supply chains can enhance firm performance. Firms should avoid the fallacy that IT investments are solely responsible for better firm performance. Based on our findings, we discuss the implications for research and practice.     

质量管理在制造技术与企业绩效中的中介效应检验 ——基于Bootstrap法的结构方程分析

摘要：以重庆市制造企业为样本,运用基于Bootstrap的结构方程方法,对质量管理在先进制造技术与企业绩效间的中介作用进行了实证检验。中介效应的三步检验结果表明：先进制造技术对企业绩效的直接作用并不显著;先进制造技术对质量管理、质量管理对企业绩效均有显著的直接影响,质量管理活动在先进制造技术和企业绩效的关系中起到了完全的中介作用。中介效应的进一步分析显示,先进制造技术通过对质量管理核心活动与基础活动的递进作用,最终经由员工管理和流程管理活动间接改善了企业的绩效水平。     

战略人力资源管理一致性与组织绩效的关系研究——双元创新能力的中介作用

揭示战略人力资源管理一致性对组织绩效影响的作用机理一直是战略人力资源管理研究的核心问题之一。以双元创新能力为中介变量、以市场环境为调节变量,构建了战略人力资源管理一致性与组织绩效之间的关系模型。实证研究结果表明:战略人力资源管理一致性对组织短期与长期绩效的影响具有差异性,且对短期绩效的影响作用大于长期绩效;探索性创新与开发性创新能力均对组织长期绩效具有部分中介效应,市场环境对组织短期与长期绩效影响均具有调节效应。
