Medical leadership competences among medical students at Hashemite University in Jordan

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to identify Medical Leadership Competences among medical students at Hashemite University, and analyze the significant differences in the university participants based on their academic level, gender and GPA. Data collection randomly selected from medical students, the response rate for were (260) students. A 40 items survey covered the five areas of Medical Leadership Competences were used. The responses indicated that the most leadership competences for medical students ascending by means were: ‘Demonstrating personal qualities’, ‘Working with others’, ‘Managing services’, ’Setting direction’, an ‘Improving services’, all of these competencies were in high level. There were no significant differences at the 0.05 level among medical leadership competences of medical students’ at Hashemite University related to their academic year, gender, and GPA.     

Guidance and counseling in Iran

The past decade has seen tremendous international growth and expanded dialogue in the field of guidance and counseling. American ideas and techniques have been exported extensively, though often modified to adhere to diverse cultures. The present article examines the emergence of guidance and counseling in the rapidly changing and tumultuous country of Iran and briefly look at the cultural and educational system and their counselor training model.William J. Weikel is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at Morehead State University in Kentucky. Effat Mortazavi recently received her Master's degree in School Counseling at Morehead State University and has returned to Iran.     

Guidance and counseling program development in Botswana

In this article the procedures utilized in developing recommendations for guidance and counseling programming in Botswana are discussed. Initially, the status of guidance and counseling was determined through numerous interviews with individuals in many locations in the country. In addition to the information gained from these interviews, a needs assessment was conducted through reviewing national documents and surveying primary and secondary teachers and secondary students. Questionnaires administered to 106 primary school teachers, 89 secondary school teachers and 405 secondary school students were analyzed.Data from these sources comprised the foundation for recommendations for a sequence of developmental tasks for Guidance and Counseling Program Development in the Botswana Educational System. Six primary counselor roles including 1) Counseling Service, 2) Consulting Service, 3) Information Service, 4) Referral Service, 5) Placement and Follow-up Service and 6) Evaluation and Research Service serve as the basis for these recommendations.     

Guidance and counseling in Catalonia (Spain)

The author of this article attempts to set out the efforts that have been made in Catalonia (autonomous nationality within Spain) to regulate rationally the guidance and counseling services of fered to that part of the student population that has the greatest needs. She describes some models of services that have been created under the auspices of different institutions and analyzes their functions. International developments in counseling 1977–1986: some observations

This article gives a historical overview of international developments in counseling during the first ten years of publication of the International Journal for the Advancement of Counselling, 1977–1986. Observations from counselors on five continents on significant societal events during this era and the response of the counseling profession to these events are summarized along with a brief literature review.

People with disabilities and the changing labor market: Some challenges for counseling practice and research on workplace counseling

Nearly a quarter of the entire population of the EU has a disability. Disabled employees have become increasingly integrated into the labor force. According to a national survey and an international literature review, disabled people's experiences enrich the cultural diversity of the workplace. The purpose of the present paper is to present current research trends and identify future research needs in terms of occupational counseling for disabled employees. Research in this area poses many challenges, and there is a clear need for an interdisciplinary approach. Counseling-oriented, work-oriented and manager-based models are discussed in this paper. Counseling can promote collaboration with various agencies, such as family organizations, educators and managers, thus laying the foundations for developing the competencies needed in the labor markets of the future. The paper goes on to discuss the role of empowerment, self-advocacy and social relations over the life span.     

Comparative Studies of Career Guidance: Some Reflections

The papers in this issue of the journal stem from the largest harmonised set of international reviews of national career guidance policies ever undertaken. Separately they cover 37 countries. They provide a rich set of data for researchers on comparative career guidance systems, and they contain many important lessons for policy makers. Nevertheless they leave important questions about the determinants of differences between national career guidance systems unanswered.

目前,高校出现的学生情感问题和学习压力大以及人际关系等问题导致的校园悲剧现象频出,这与学生自身的心理状况有密切关系。高校辅导员兼职心理咨询工作则是减少悲剧发生的有效途径之一。
