Beijing Opera

Do you like Beijing Opera? Beijing Opera-Peking Opera has existed for over 200 years. It is widely regarded as the highest expression of the Chinese culture. It is known as one of the three main theatrical systems in the world. Artistically, Beijing Opera is perhaps the most refined form of opera in the world. It has deeply influenced the hearts of the Chinese people. Although it is called Beijing Opera, its origins are not in Beijing but in the Chinese provinces of Anhui and Hubei. Beijing Opera got its two main melodies, Xi_Pi and Er_Huang, from Anhui and Hubei operas. It then absorbed music and arias from other operas and musical arts in China.

You might be crazy about Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" as an English learner, but what do you think British teenagers studying Chinese are crazy about? Well, it's Cao Xueqin's classic, "The Dream of the Red Chamber". On December 18, nine British students arrived in Beijing for a seven-day trip after winning a 2006 Chinese Speaking Competition in Britain. More than 170 students from 36 secondary schools took part in that competition last month. It was organized by the British Council. Three of the students coming to Beijing won first prizes for Language Ability. The other six were first prize winners for a dramatic performance in Chinese entitled "A New Home for Lin Daiyu".     

My Favorite Opera

Cats is my favorite opera. It has been put on throughout the world and is loved by all the opera fans. I know much about the opera 1 . It has been performed more than 1,500 times up to now. In April 2004, it came to Beijing for the first time. The opera tells us that 2 . One day, they decided to choose a cat to go to paradise(乐园). So each of the cats introduced himself and showed himself. 3 . At last, a very old cat came out. She sang a song called Memory. She sang, "...Memory, all alone in the midnight. At the end of the opera, the cats chose the old cat to go to paradise. 5 . I like it very much.

By analyzing two videos"Chinese in foreigners’ eyes"and"China, How is it", I am going to talk about the most impressive culture mentioned by foreigners in these videos with further discussion. And only when we deeply understand our culture, not just see it by its out layer, can we explain our culture to the world effectively.
