白璧有瑕疵,尚需琢磨工--评《变化中的英语》

本文针对电大开放教育英语本科教材《变化中的英语》，指出该书中所存在的五大缺点，希望能引起编者、教师和学员的关注。这五大缺点是：全书思路不清，观点自相矛盾，夸大宣扬英语文化的优越性，详略失宜、表达不明，信息落伍、内容有误。     

变革世界中的远程教育--在2003世界开放大学校长会议上的发言

首先,我要说的是,我感到非常荣幸,上海电视大学校长邀请我参加首届世界开放大学校长会议。这是我第二次有幸应上海电视大学之邀参加重要的国际性会议,前一次是参加1998年举行的上海国际开放与远程教育研讨会。我要衷心地感谢上海电视大学邀请我参加本次会议并发表演讲。最重要的是,感谢上海电视大学1998年授予我荣誉教授。我明白,这是一个终生的荣誉和承诺。     

基于辍学研究的电大课程教学反思——以“变化中的英语”课程为例

本文基于电大辍学归因研究中的学习负荷问题展开讨论。调查显示,学习负荷过高造成了许多电大学生在学习道路上的无功而返,而学习的高负荷是由课程难度与学生学术水平之间的落差所造成的。本研究旨在通过对电大课程教学过程的审视,探究其学术支持服务手段的有效性。本研究以2011年3-6月上海电大A分校2010春英语专业本科层次"变化中的英语"课程教学为个案,通过面授课堂观察、课程形成性考核记录、网上教学记录、课程期末考试成绩聚焦课程教学效果。研究结果显示,电大的课程教学支持服务手段仍停留于传统教学模式,而作为重要学习辅助手段的网上学习,其形式意义占据和弥漫于抽样所在班级师生的观念中,导致学习支持的可获得性受到制约;同时,由于任课教师在电大体制下被层层嵌于一个庞大的系统之中,教师的能动性在改善课程教学效果时会受到一定程度上的限制;第三,在多方原因的共同作用下,现行教学模式下学生的课业表现与预期课程教学目标之间存有潜在的些微差距,会在一定程度上影响任课教师对自身课程教学的判断和调整。改变这种状况,电大教学组织制度的变革和对教师支持服务力度的加强势在必行。     

英语世界的斑斓色彩--浅议颜色词在英语中的应用

颜色词及相关词语不仅可以用来表现自然界的五彩缤纷，更被广泛地用来表达人们复杂的思想感情及千变万化的事物特征．由于中西方化的差异，颜色词的中西方引申比喻含义也各不相同。从红、黄、蓝、绿、白、黑等六种主要的颜色词及相关的词组搭配可了解一些中西方化的差异。     

英语屈折形式的演变

英语是印欧语系中西日曼语的一支。现代英语是分析性的语言，而古英语却是高度综合性的语言，与其它的印欧语相比，现代英语的词尾屈折变化最少。本拟就英语词尾屈折变化的发展过程作一探源，并以名词、动词为例，比较了现代英语同古英语、中古英语、早期现代珠词尾屈折变化特点，旨在揭示语言由综合到分析、由词形的多变化到无变化的发展过程。     

Career Learning in a Changing World: The Role of Emotions

Existing theories of career learning do not adequately take into account the uncertain and rapidly changing conditions for careers in the modern world. Specifically, they view emotions, such as anxiety and uncertainty, as obstacles for career learning and career identity construction. We suggest a different model of identity construction in which we explicitly examine how coping with such emotions may be necessary for real changes in identity. In such a process, emotions are related to metaphors and concepts available in the cultural community, which are then given a personal meaning. Finally, we examine how such a view might change career counseling.     

教育测量的未来趋势

本文根据作者于2018年4月在纽约召开的(美国)全国教育测量学会(NCME)年会上的主席演讲稿修改而成。作者首先介绍了未来教育测量发展变化的11个可能特征、每个特征之所以重要的原因,以及应该如何看待这些变化。随后概述了未来教育测量领域不太可能发生变化的几个方面。最后对今后十年的教育发展进行了展望,并就这些发展对教育测量工作者可能产生的影响进行了讨论。     

Constructing National Identity in a Changing World: Perspectives in Japanese education

This article explores some of the alternative perspectives on national identity which exist within the current Japanese education system. Analysis of official Japanese Ministry of Education policy is juxtaposed with presentation of the voices of junior high school students and pre-service student teachers to highlight the issue of the role of education in developing national identity in schools. It is argued that a wide discrepancy exists between Ministry of Education ideology, and the opinions of Japanese students and student teachers, and that these conflicting discourses raise questions about the definition, form, importance and even the very existence of education for national identity in the twenty-first century.     

Changing Higher Education Curricula for a Global and Multicultural World

Dramatic demographic changes in the cultural and linguistic diversity of people are occurring in many nations throughout the world. These changes have challenged higher education institutions to modify their curricula and instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners and to prepare all graduates to have the awareness, knowledge, and skills to be effective in a diverse society. This article outlines a framework for changing curricula in higher education in order to prepare students to succeed in the culturally diverse, globally interdependent world. It also provides some practical guidance for undertaking such change, placing emphasis on increasing faculty expertise in multicultural and global/international education.     

Learning English as an L2 in the Global Context: Changing English,Changing Motivation

As the English language has become a global lingua franca today, it is not surprising that changes in attitudes and perceptions towards learning English in the international context have taken place at the same time. In this paper, I critically examine the notion of ‘integrative motivation’ in the literature of second language (L2) learning with respect to the changing role of the English language in the global context. In particular, this paper attempts to re-conceptualise the notion of integrative motivation by considering the results of recent empirical research on L2 motivation. It is argued that the predominant motivation of learning English among most L2 learners is no longer concerned with ‘integration’ in the target native English-speaking culture, but with the construction of a ‘bi-cultural’ or ‘world citizen’ identity, as well as identification with the international community. The paper ends by suggesting new ways of understanding the concept of motivation in L2 learning in today’s global context.     

个人自由与社会秩序间的博弈--探究数字信息交流方式对社会的影响

数字信息交流由于其具有全方位、高效率、互动性和个性化以及出现了基于“虚假身份”的交流形式的特点,一方面能使人们获取信息的效率得到极大的提高,另一方面对传统的社会信息交流秩序产生了冲击,并出现了一定程度上的无秩序或混乱状态。建设和完善伦理道德体系、弘扬先进的文化、构建相应的法律体系、继续发展信息技术是克服无秩序状态的有效方法。     

English in the World Today

Of the 4,000 to 5,000 living languages, English is by far the most widely used. As a mother tongue, it ranks second only to Chinese, which is effectively six mutually unintelligible dialects little used outside China. On the other hand the 300 million native speakers of English are to be found in every continent, and an equally widely distributed body of second language speakers, who use English for their day-to-day needs,     

试析英语委婉语的发展变化

英语委婉语是一种社会现象，它在各个方面都受到社会的影响。（1）在历时性方面，在不同的历史时期，需要委婉表达的话题随着社会的变化而变化，而对于同一个话题，社会因素的影响使其产生了许多委婉同义词。（2）在共时性方面，在同一历史时期，委婉语的应用受到使用和语境这两个因素的影响，使用因素包括年龄，性别及社会阶层等，语境因素包括：言语行为各个参加之间的关系，言语行为的语域和传播中介的应用等。     

Changing the English language curriculum in Brunei Darussalam

This paper describes the development of a language project in Brunei Darussalam, a project aimed at improving English language learning and fostering positive reading interests. In-service teachers were trained to change from traditional textbook-based techniques to an activity-based approach integrating the practice of aural-oral and writing skills. The major components of project implementation will be discussed to demonstrate the optimization of available resources, particularly available expertise in teacher skill and language competence. This project provides an interesting example of an attempt to satisfy the practical demands of policy-makers while adhering to research standards of evaluation studies.     

China English under the Circumstances of World English
