I can honestly say it was the best of times and the worst of times. I was joyfully expecting my first child at the same time that my once-energetic, zestful mother was losing her battle with a brain tumor.     

Minimum Amount of Slop Cut in Batch Distillation

The pulse-control operation technique which alternates between total reflux operation and total efflux operation in batch distillation was studied along with the minimum amount of slop cut. Total reflux time was confirmed by dynamic simulation, and total efflux time was adopted by statistic method. For the mixture of hexane and cyclohexane and the traditional constant reflux ratio operation strategy, the amount of slop cut is 1.8-2.1 times of the minimum amount of slop cut; whereas for the pulse-control operation strategy, it is 1.2-1.4 times of the minimum amount of slop cut. So compared with the traditional constant reflux ratio operation, the pulse-control operation can decrease the amount of slop cut and operation time, and meanwhile, enhance separation efficiency and yield.     

Accelerated matrix recovery via random projection based on inexact augmented Lagrange multiplier method

In this paper, a unified matrix recovery model was proposed for diverse corrupted matrices. Resulting from the separable structure of the proposed model, the convex optimization problem can be solved efficiently by adopting an inexact augmented Lagrange multiplier (IALM) method. Additionally, a random projection accelerated technique (IALM+RP) was adopted to improve the success rate. From the preliminary numerical comparisons, it was indicated that for the standard robust principal component analysis (PCA) problem, IALM+RP was at least two to six times faster than IALM with an insignificant reduction in accuracy; and for the outlier pursuit (OP) problem, IALM+RP was at least 6.9 times faster, even up to 8.3 times faster when the size of matrix was 2 000×2 000.

Electrochemical preparation and performance of γ-MnO2

The effects of the electro-deposition conditions on the crystal structure and the properties of electrolytic manganese dioxide(EMD) were investigated in this paper. The results show that EMD was γ-crystal, with sand-like rough interface. The optimal preparation conditions of EMD were 30 min deposition time, and p H=1.0 in Mn SO4-H2SO4 solution at 50 ?C. Surfactant(P1) was conducive to the uniform and stable surface of γ-Mn O2 film, the impedance and the specific surface area of the electrode modified with γ-Mn O2 increased by 21.4 times and 75.6 times, respectively. The redox reversibility and the resolution ratio of characteristic peaks with the modified electrode were significantly improved in the benzodiazepines electrochemical reaction. The achievement illustrated that the controllable synthesis of γ-Mn O2 film thickness was practical in electrochemical sensors, and the determination reliability of benzodiazepines was improved with γ-Mn O2 modified electrodes used in environment monitoring technology.

关于寿命分布NBU(2)类的若干封闭性质

Some new results about the NBU(2) class of life distributions were obtained. Firstly, it was proved that the decrease with time of the increasing concave ordering of the excess lifetime in a renewal process leads to the NBU (2) property of the interarrival times. Secondly, the NBU(2) class of life distributions is proved to be closed under the formation of series systems. Finally, it was also shown that the NBU(2) class is closed under convolution operation.

Flexible Calibration Method for 3D Laser Scanner System简

In this paper, a flexible high-precision calibration method suitable for industrial field was proposed. The complexity of the coordinate transformation was simplified by choosing the camera coordinate system as the unified reference coordinate system. A flexible planar calibration pattern was introduced to the calibration process, which can be arbitrarily placed and from which the known feature points can be extracted to construct other unknown feature points. With the known intrinsic parameters, the laser projector plane equation was fitted by the multi-noncollinear points, which were acquired through the principle of triangulation and the projective invariance of cross ratio. With this method, the strict alignment and multiple times of coordinate transformation can be avoided. Experimental results showed that the arithmetic mean of the root mean square （RMS） error of distance was 0.000 7 mm.

Treating dye wastewater by TiO2 coated on coal cinder

We investigated the photocatalytic degradation of dye wastewater by using titanium dioxide （TiO2） coated on a coal cinder. The coal cinder was used as the carrier, with a thin film of TiO2 coated on it by using the sol-gel method. Using the Congo red as the model pollutant for dye wastewater, we studied the decolorization efficiency, and effects of TiO2 film thickness and roasting temperature on the efficiency. We also evaluated the recycling and regeneration of the immobilized TiO2 （TiO2/cinder）. Results show that the decolorization rate of Congo red solution was more than 98% after 2.h treatment when we used TiO2/cinder calcined at 500 ℃ for 2 h and coated four times as the photocatalyst. At the same time, the TiO2/cinder remained high catalytic activity after being reused and regenerated for many times.
