Inferring users’ interests from their activities on social networks has been an emerging research topic in the recent years. Most existing approaches heavily rely on the explicit contributions (posts) of a user and overlook users’ implicit interests, i.e., those potential user interests that the user did not explicitly mention but might have interest in. Given a set of active topics present in a social network in a specified time interval, our goal is to build an interest profile for a user over these topics by considering both explicit and implicit interests of the user. The reason for this is that the interests of free-riders and cold start users who constitute a large majority of social network users, cannot be directly identified from their explicit contributions to the social network. Specifically, to infer users’ implicit interests, we propose a graph-based link prediction schema that operates over a representation model consisting of three types of information: user explicit contributions to topics, relationships between users, and the relatedness between topics. Through extensive experiments on different variants of our representation model and considering both homogeneous and heterogeneous link prediction, we investigate how topic relatedness and users’ homophily relation impact the quality of inferring users’ implicit interests. Comparison with state-of-the-art baselines on a real-world Twitter dataset demonstrates the effectiveness of our model in inferring users’ interests in terms of perplexity and in the context of retweet prediction application. Moreover, we further show that the impact of our work is especially meaningful when considered in case of free-riders and cold start users.  相似文献

This article explores how to develop complex data driven user models that go beyond the bag of words model and topical relevance. We propose to learn from rich user specific information and to satisfy complex user criteria under the graphical modelling framework. We carried out a user study with a web based personal news filtering system, and collected extensive user information, including explicit user feedback, implicit user feedback and some contextual information. Experimental results on the data set collected demonstrate that the graphical modelling approach helps us to better understand the complex domain. The results also show that the complex data driven user modelling approach can improve the adaptive information filtering performance. We also discuss some practical issues while learning complex user models, including how to handle data noise and the missing data problem.  相似文献

This paper presents explicit and implicit discrete-time realizations for the robust exact filtering differentiator, aiming to facilitate an adequate posterior implementation structure in digital devices. This paper firstly presents an analysis of an explicit discrete-time realization of the filtering differentiator based on linear systems’ exact discretization with a zero-order holder. For this case, however, high-order terms in the filter dynamics may cause instability of the estimation error for signals with unbounded derivatives. Hence, two other new discrete-time realizations of the filtering differentiator are derived by removing some high-order terms in the filter dynamics. The first one is an explicit discrete-time realization, while the second one is implicit. After a finite time, both preserve the accuracy of the continuous-time robust exact filtering differentiator in the presence of measurement noise. For each proposed discrete-time scheme, a stability analysis based on homogeneity is provided. Finally, the simulation results include comparisons between the proposed implicit and explicit discrete-time realizations with other existing schemes. These numerical studies highlight that the implicit scheme supersedes the explicit one, consistent with the implicit and explicit realizations of other continuous-time algorithms.  相似文献

Most of the existing GNN-based recommender system models focus on learning users’ personalized preferences from these (explicit/implicit) positive feedback to achieve personalized recommendations. However, in the real-world recommender system, the users’ feedback behavior also includes negative feedback behavior (e.g., click dislike button), which also reflects users’ personalized preferences. How to utilize negative feedback is a challenging research problem. In this paper, we first qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the three kinds of negative feedback that widely existed in real-world recommender systems and investigate the role of negative feedback in recommender systems. We found that it is different from what we expected — not all negative items are ranked low, and some negative items are even ranked high in the overall items. Then, we propose a novel Signed Graph Neural Network Recommendation model (SiGRec) to encode the users’ negative feedback behavior. Our SiGRec can learn positive and negative embeddings of users and items via positive and negative graph neural network encoders, respectively. Besides, we also define a new Sign Cosine (SiC) loss function to adaptively mine the information of negative feedback for different types of negative feedback. Extensive experiments on four datasets demonstrate the proposed model outperforms several existing models. Specifically, on the Zhihu dataset, SiGRec outperforms the unsigned GNN model (i.e., LightGCN), 27.58% 29.81%, and 31.21% in P@20, R@20, and nDCG@20, respectively. We hope our work can open the door to further exploring the negative feedback in recommendations.  相似文献

Information filtering (IF) systems usually filter data items by correlating a vector of terms that represent the user profile with similar vectors of terms that represent data items. Terms that represent data items can be determined by experts or automatic indexing methods. In this study we employ an artificial neural network (ANN) as an alternative method for both IF and term selection and compare its effectiveness to that of “traditional” methods. In an earlier study we developed and examined the performance of an IF system that employed content-based and stereotypic rule-based filtering methods in the domain of e-mail messages. In this study, we train a large-scale ANN-based filter, which uses meaningful terms in the same database as input, and use it to predict the relevance of those messages. Our results reveal that the ANN relevance prediction out-performs the prediction of the IF system. Moreover, we found very low correlation between the terms in the user profile (explicitly selected by the users) and the positive causal-index (CI) terms of the ANN, which indicate the relative importance of terms in messages. This implies that the users underestimate the importance of some terms, failing to include them in their profiles. This may explain the rather low prediction accuracy of the IF system.  相似文献

内容提供商是网络平台中新服务开发(NSD)活动的开展者,如何借助网络平台运营机制,从平台中其他参与者处获取知识、提升NSD绩效,是有待解决的关键问题。在前期案例研究的基础上,对相关概念进行探析,构建网络平台运营机制对内容提供商NSD绩效作用机理的理论模型,提出研究命题,结果表明:内容提供商可以借助能力提供机制、互动机制和知识整合机制,分别获取能力提供商、新服务体验者和平台企业的显性知识和隐性知识,能力提供机制对两类知识获取的作用强度相当,互动机制更有助于隐性知识获取,知识整合机制更有助于显性知识获取;显性知识获取和隐性知识获取对NSD绩效的两个维度(新服务的数量、新服务的评分)均有正向作用,显性知识获取对前者的作用更强,隐性知识获取恰好相反;在网络平台运营机制与内容提供商知识获取的关系中,内容提供商技术准备度、任务复杂性均起正向调节作用。本研究进一步打开了基于开放式网络平台的NSD模式的“黑箱”,推动了创新管理理论向网络环境发展和深化,对平台参与者协同推进NSD活动具有指导意义。  相似文献

Collaborative filtering (CF) algorithms are techniques used by recommender systems to predict the utility of items for users based on the similarity among their preferences and the preferences of other users. The enormous growth of learning objects on the internet and the availability of preferences of usage by the community of users in the existing learning object repositories (LORs) have opened the possibility of testing the efficiency of CF algorithms on recommending learning materials to the users of these communities. In this paper we evaluated recommendations of learning resources generated by different well known memory-based CF algorithms using two databases (with implicit and explicit ratings) gathered from the popular MERLOT repository. We have also contrasted the results of the generated recommendations with several existing endorsement mechanisms of the repository to explore possible relations among them. Finally, the recommendations generated by the different algorithms were compared in order to evaluate whether or not they were overlapping. The results found here can be used as a starting point for future studies that account for the specific context of learning object repositories and the different aspects of preference in learning resource selection.  相似文献

Privacy-preserving collaborative filtering is an emerging web-adaptation tool to cope with information overload problem without jeopardizing individuals’ privacy. However, collaborative filtering with privacy schemes commonly suffer from scalability and sparseness as the content in the domain proliferates. Moreover, applying privacy measures causes a distortion in collected data, which in turn defects accuracy of such systems. In this work, we propose a novel privacy-preserving collaborative filtering scheme based on bisecting k-means clustering in which we apply two preprocessing methods. The first preprocessing scheme deals with scalability problem by constructing a binary decision tree through a bisecting k-means clustering approach while the second produces clones of users by inserting pseudo-self-predictions into original user profiles to boost accuracy of scalability-enhanced structure. Sparse nature of collections are handled by transforming ratings into item features-based profiles. After analyzing our scheme with respect to privacy and supplementary costs, we perform experiments on benchmark data sets to evaluate it in terms of accuracy and online performance. Our empirical outcomes verify that combined effects of the proposed preprocessing schemes relieve scalability and augment accuracy significantly.  相似文献

Pre-adoption expectations often serve as an implicit reference point in users’ evaluation of information systems and are closely associated with their goals of interactions, behaviors, and overall satisfaction. Despite the empirically confirmed impacts, users’ search expectations and their connections to tasks, users, search experiences, and behaviors have been scarcely studied in the context of online information search. To address the gap, we collected 116 sessions from 60 participants in a controlled-lab Web search study and gathered direct feedback on their in-situ expected information gains (e.g., number of useful pages) and expected search efforts (e.g., clicks and dwell time) under each query during search sessions. Our study aims to examine (1) how users’ pre-search experience, task characteristics, and in-session experience affect their current expectations and (2) how user expectations are correlated with search behaviors and satisfaction. Our results with both quantitative and qualitative evidence demonstrate that: (1) user expectation is significantly affected by task characteristics, previous and in-situ search experience; (2) user expectation is closely associated with users’ browsing behaviors and search satisfaction. The knowledge learned about user expectation advances our understanding of users’ search behavioral patterns and their evaluations of interaction experience and will also facilitate the design, implementation, and evaluation of expectation-aware user models, metrics, and information retrieval (IR) systems.  相似文献

To improve search engine effectiveness, we have observed an increased interest in gathering additional feedback about users’ information needs that goes beyond the queries they type in. Adaptive search engines use explicit and implicit feedback indicators to model users or search tasks. In order to create appropriate models, it is essential to understand how users interact with search engines, including the determining factors of their actions. Using eye tracking, we extend this understanding by analyzing the sequences and patterns with which users evaluate query result returned to them when using Google. We find that the query result abstracts are viewed in the order of their ranking in only about one fifth of the cases, and only an average of about three abstracts per result page are viewed at all. We also compare search behavior variability with respect to different classes of users and different classes of search tasks to reveal whether user models or task models may be greater predictors of behavior. We discover that gender and task significantly influence different kinds of search behaviors discussed here. The results are suggestive of improvements to query-based search interface designs with respect to both their use of space and workflow.  相似文献

Online recommender systems have been shown to be vulnerable to group shilling attacks in which attackers of a shilling group collaboratively inject fake profiles with the aim of increasing or decreasing the frequency that particular items are recommended. Existing detection methods mainly use the frequent itemset (dense subgraph) mining or clustering method to generate candidate groups and then utilize the hand-crafted features to identify shilling groups. However, such two-stage detection methods have two limitations. On the one hand, due to the sensitivity of support threshold or clustering parameters setting, it is difficult to guarantee the quality of candidate groups generated. On the other hand, they all rely on manual feature engineering to extract detection features, which is costly and time-consuming. To address these two limitations, we present a shilling group detection method based on graph convolutional network. First, we model the given dataset as a graph by treating users as nodes and co-rating relations between users as edges. By assigning edge weights and filtering normal user relations, we obtain the suspicious user relation graph. Second, we use principal component analysis to refine the rating features of users and obtain the user feature matrix. Third, we design a three-layer graph convolutional network model with a neighbor filtering mechanism and perform user classification by combining both structure and rating features of users. Finally, we detect shilling groups through identifying target items rated by the attackers according to the user classification results. Extensive experiments show that the classification accuracy and detection performance (F1-measure) of the proposed method can reach 98.92% and 99.92% on the Netflix dataset and 93.18% and 92.41% on the Amazon dataset.  相似文献

In event-based social networks (EBSN), group event recommendation has become an important task for groups to quickly find events that they are interested in. Existing methods on group event recommendation either consider just one type of information, explicit or implicit, or separately model the explicit and implicit information. However, these methods often generate a problem of data sparsity or of model vector redundancy. In this paper, we present a Graph Multi-head Attention Network (GMAN) model for group event recommendation that integrates the explicit and implicit information in EBSN. Specifically, we first construct a user-explicit graph based on the user's explicit information, such as gender, age, occupation and the interactions between users and events. Then we build a user-implicit graph based on the user's implicit information, such as friend relationships. The incorporated both explicit and implicit information can effectively describe the user's interests and alleviate the data sparsity problem. Considering that there may be a correlation between the user's explicit and implicit information in EBSN, we take the user's explicit vector representation as the input of the implicit information aggregation when modeling with graph neural networks. This unified user modeling can solve the aforementioned problem of user model vector redundancy and is also suitable for event modeling. Furthermore, we utilize a multi-head attention network to learn richer implicit information vectors of users and events from multiple perspectives. Finally, in order to get a higher level of group vector representation, we use a vanilla attention mechanism to fuse different user vectors in the group. Through experimenting on two real-world Meetup datasets, we demonstrate that GMAN model consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods on group event recommendation.  相似文献

Query enrichment is a process of dynamically enhancing a user query based on her preferences and context in order to provide a personalized answer. The central idea is that different users may find different services relevant due to different preferences and contexts. In this paper, we present a preference model that combines user preferences, user context, domain knowledge to enrich the initial user query. We use CP-nets to rank the preferences using implicit and explicit user preferences and domain knowledge. We present some algorithms for preferential matching. We have implemented the proposed model as a prototype. The initial results look promising.  相似文献

In recent years, there has been a rapid growth of user-generated data in collaborative tagging (a.k.a. folksonomy-based) systems due to the prevailing of Web 2.0 communities. To effectively assist users to find their desired resources, it is critical to understand user behaviors and preferences. Tag-based profile techniques, which model users and resources by a vector of relevant tags, are widely employed in folksonomy-based systems. This is mainly because that personalized search and recommendations can be facilitated by measuring relevance between user profiles and resource profiles. However, conventional measurements neglect the sentiment aspect of user-generated tags. In fact, tags can be very emotional and subjective, as users usually express their perceptions and feelings about the resources by tags. Therefore, it is necessary to take sentiment relevance into account into measurements. In this paper, we present a novel generic framework SenticRank to incorporate various sentiment information to various sentiment-based information for personalized search by user profiles and resource profiles. In this framework, content-based sentiment ranking and collaborative sentiment ranking methods are proposed to obtain sentiment-based personalized ranking. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work of integrating sentiment information to address the problem of the personalized tag-based search in collaborative tagging systems. Moreover, we compare the proposed sentiment-based personalized search with baselines in the experiments, the results of which have verified the effectiveness of the proposed framework. In addition, we study the influences by popular sentiment dictionaries, and SenticNet is the most prominent knowledge base to boost the performance of personalized search in folksonomy.  相似文献

Some of the most popular measures to evaluate information filtering systems are usually independent of the users because they are based in relevance judgments obtained from experts. On the other hand, the user-centred evaluation allows showing the different impressions that the users have perceived about the system running. This work is focused on discussing the problem of user-centred versus system-centred evaluation of a Web content personalization system where the personalization is based on a user model that stores long term (section, categories and keywords) and short term interests (adapted from user provided feedback). The user-centred evaluation is based on questionnaires filled in by the users before and after using the system and the system-centred evaluation is based on the comparison between ranking of documents, obtained from the application of a multi-tier selection process, and binary relevance judgments collected previously from real users. The user-centred and system-centred evaluations performed with 106 users during 14 working days have provided valuable data concerning the behaviour of the users with respect to issues such as document relevance or the relative importance attributed to different ways of personalization. The results obtained shows general satisfaction on both the personalization processes (selection, adaptation and presentation) and the system as a whole.  相似文献

This paper presents a study of relevance feedback in a cross-language information retrieval environment. We have performed an experiment in which Portuguese speakers are asked to judge the relevance of English documents; documents hand-translated to Portuguese and documents automatically translated to Portuguese. The goals of the experiment were to answer two questions (i) how well can native Portuguese searchers recognise relevant documents written in English, compared to documents that are hand translated and automatically translated to Portuguese; and (ii) what is the impact of misjudged documents on the performance improvement that can be achieved by relevance feedback. Surprisingly, the results show that machine translation is as effective as hand translation in aiding users to assess relevance in the experiment. In addition, the impact of misjudged documents on the performance of RF is overall just moderate, and varies greatly for different query topics.  相似文献
