通过多年发展,我国现有的数字图书馆在文献获取方面取得巨大成就。可是,数字图书馆所提供的服务大多以文献检索和传递为主。这体现的是以资源为中心为用户服务的理念随着互联网由web1.0向web2.0的转变,信息的生产、组织与传播方式随之改变,用户利用信息的行为也与以往不尽相同本文分析了现存数字图书馆服务的一些局限性,简介了web2.0的舍义与应用,并提出数字图书馆可以引入web2.0应用来创新用户服务——体现以用户为中心为用户服务的理念。  相似文献

通过网络调研Web 2.0在美国顶级大学图书馆网站的使用情况。结果显示:最受欢迎的Web 2.0技术是SNS,使用率达到100%;其次为Blog,RSS和IM,分别占90%以上;Vodcasts(占47%),Podcasts(占46%)和Social bookmarking(占39%)也较受欢迎;Wiki的使用率较低,仅占1/3。认为Web 2.0在这些图书馆的使用情况和技术结构模式在一定程度上反映美国大学图书馆服务数字化、互动化、个性化的发展趋势,同时也映射出世界图书馆服务人性化、互动化的变化。研究结果可为专业图书馆信息研究管理者、Web 2.0部署人员以及图书馆用户等相关人士提供参考意见和建议。  相似文献

The paper discusses and analyzes the coverage of scientific serials in Google Scholar (GS). The focus is on an exploratory study. The study shows deficiencies in the coverage and up-to-dateness of the GS index. Furthermore, the study points up which Web servers are the most important data providers for this search service and which information sources are highly represented. There is a relatively large gap in Google Scholar's coverage of German literature as well as weaknesses in the accessibility of Open Access content.  相似文献

In the spring 1997, the Adult Liberal Studies Program at the University of Toledo invited proposal to design, develop, and teach a seminar course specifically for the adult learner. Our adult learners must learn to move seamless through the Internet, web-based interfaces and stand alone CD-ROMs. The course proposal, “Wandering the web with a purpose: Using the Internet for information and research,” was accepted as a four credit hour course and is specifically geared for adult learners who range in age from their early 30s to late 70s.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This study explores the current status and features of Pakistan's academic library Web sites. A checklist describing features and content was prepared based on a review of the literature related to academic libraries’ Web sites. Then, all 85 library Web sites of Pakistani universities and degree-awarding institutions recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan were surveyed and analyzed using the checklist. Interviews with library professionals were conducted to learn more about the problems and issues with building and maintaining library Web sites. Results indicate that Pakistani academic library Web sites have effective features such as contrasting color schemes, easily readable text, minimal use of horizontal scrolling, and English-language text. Staff information, OPACs, and navigation features are also widely found on the Web sites. Features found less frequently include the use of Web 2.0 technologies, Web site aid tools, information about library buildings, and general library information. By offering information about the status of Pakistani academic library Web sites, the study can serve as a foundation for discussion between libraries and other parts of the university, as well as a benchmark for evaluating the progress of academic library Web sites in Pakistan  相似文献

Ways are explored in which public library children's librarians can help sighted children increase their understanding of persons with visual impairment and their skills in communicating with them. Interviews were conducted with six children's librarians and six BPH subregional librarians, and searches were made in the public library catalogs and the Regional BPH Library fiche catalog for selected titles. Three areas for discussion emerged: reader advisory and reference questions, collection development, and programming. Public library children's librarians and BPH subregional librarians can jointly coordinate provision of children's services by identifying and building on present strengths in collection development and programming.  相似文献

Summary

The development of Web sites is proceeding at an ever-quickening pace. Adult learners can benefit from the wealth of information accessible in both new sites and changing older sites. However, that excitement is tempered by frustration in following blind leads or encountering questionable quality. One approach is to stay abreast of the latest material by attempting to look at and read every new and modified site. However, time is finite, and many of our students have lives filled with conflicting needs. The Delphi method, a sociological research technique first developed in defense research, is used to elicit expert opinion as a short cut to evaluating Web sites. A specific example with business-related sites is presented as a test case in developing and applying the methodology. The use of Delphi, an oracle-based technique, seems quite appropriate as we assist our adult students to allocate their time wisely.  相似文献

This study examined the homepages of the libraries of 175 smaller bachelor of arts institutions, coding for the presence of 98 design elements. By reporting and examining the frequency of these features, the authors noted what is and is not common practice at these libraries. They found that only fourteen elements were present on at least half of the homepages studied. The most common elements were hours, a link to the university homepage, interlibrary loan, library instruction/tutorials/guides, a staff directory, an “about section,” and a “contact librarian” link. The large degree of variability in design demonstrates the unsettled nature of academic library homepage design, at least among smaller institutions, and makes it difficult for designers of such pages to follow a standard set of practices.  相似文献
