Hills Like White Elephants is a short story written by Hemingway in 1927. The story of Hills Like White Elephants takesplace in an unknown small railway station in northern Spain. A young couple are waiting for the express to Barcelona. The storystarts the dialogue of the novel, which is simple and easy to understand, but vividly describes the rich inner world of the protagonists.The novel with only a few thousand words vividly shows Hemingway's unique narrative style. Hemingway uses irony, symbolism,semantics level and syntax level to depict the psychological state of characters. The Foregrounding theory of stylistics is usedto analyze the theme text and the style of Hemingway from two aspects—Deviation and Over-Regularity.

From Dependence to Independence ---The Appreciation of Women Consciousness in ＂Hills Like White Elephants＂

By analyzing the conversations about "the operation" between the couple and the subtle changes of Jig's psychology in "Hills Like White Elephants", the paper exploits the raising of Jig's women consciousness that it is from a state of dependence to helplessness, hopelessness, and finally into be an independent female.     

A new method in highway route design: joining circular arcs by a single C-Bézier curve with shape parameter

We constructed a single C-Bezier curve with a shape parameter for G^2 joining two circular arcs. It was shown that an S-shaped transition curve, which is able to manage a broader scope about two circle radii than the Bezier curves, has no curvature extrema, while a C-shaped transition curve has a single curvature extremum. Regarding the two kinds of curves, specific algorithms were presented in detail, strict mathematical proofs were given, and the effectiveness of the method was shown by examples This method has the following three advantages： （1） the pattern is unified; （2） the parameter able to adjust the shape of the transition curve is available; （3） the transition curve is only a single segment, and the algorithm can be formulated as a low order equation to be solved for its positive root. These advantages make the method simple and easy to implement.
