《纽约时报》匿名消息源使用规范研究

匿名消息源的使用容易造成不实新闻与虚假报道的泛滥,但在特殊情况下媒体又不得不采取匿名方式处理,以保证爆料人的安全与信源的持续性,匿名消息源的使用“张力”成为各方考量的重要平衡点。以美国《纽约时报》为例,本文对其匿名消息源的使用规范历程进行梳理,重点分析“公共编辑”与“西格委员会”两大约束制度对匿名消息源的规范作用,希望能为我国匿名消息源的使用规范做出参考。     

Preservation in New York State Public Libraries

The issues facing New York State public libraries regarding preservation of materials are discussed. Much research has been conducted regarding preservation in research and academic libraries, but very little in the public library sector. The researchers examined what has been written in terms of the history, preservation methods, control of the library environment, education, organization, and government involvement. In order to evaluate current trends and attitudes of these libraries towards the preservation issue, researchers mailed questionnaires to the directors of the central libraries of the New York Stale public library systems. Responses were analyzed, conclusions drawn, and recommendations made regarding the preservation problems facing these libraries.

This essay examines dramatistic criticism as a dialectical process. It argues that dramatistic symbolic theory establishes three criteria for evaluating critical action and that dramatistic criticism involves three necessary and mutually corrective phases of analysis, only one of which involves pentadic relationships.

Moving the New York University Abu Dhabi Library

Using Steven Carl Fortriede's method in Moving Your Library: Getting the Collection From Here to There as a framework, we successfully moved the New York University Abu Dhabi Library from a library and off-site storage facility to one new library. While we generally followed Fortriede's advice, we deviated from his plan in three important ways: We created a color-coding system for the boxes, which eliminated the need to keep the boxes in strict order; we integrated two collections during the move (rather than before); and we created phantom books to create space for lengthy multivolume sets in the smaller collection.     

The Stanislavski system from New York to Hollywood

The Stanislavski system had a profound impact on the American stage and film, providing a disciplined approach to acting realism for the first time and offering a strong‐hold for contemporary acting talent in this country. Much has been written about the system, from its inception at the Moscow Art Theatre (M.A.T.) in 1897 to its impact on the European and American stage in mid‐twentieth century. However, no work has documented the transition of the system into the mainstream of the American film, where the legacy of Stanislavski is still very much alive. This paper is an attempt to close that gap and to trace the Stanislavski system from its arrival on the New York stage of the twenties to the Hollywood sound stage of the seventies.
