Intra-Asian Cultural Flow: Cultural Homologies in Hong Kong and Japanese Television Soap Operas

This paper examines and theorizes the intra-east-Asian cultural flow of televisual imaginaries between Japan and Hong Kong. With an analysis of survey data, in-depth interviews, and the comparison of soap operas of Hong Kong and Japan in terms of audience interpretation of gender values, marriage, capitalistic relationships, and love, the author illustrates that there is a strong degree of cultural homologies between Japan and Hong Kong and argues that the regional values from Japan have gradually displaced the global culture to become Hong Kong's emancipatory power to resist the control of the state.     

Analyzing the use of Facebook among university libraries in Hong Kong

In recent years, many academic libraries have started adopting social media by, for example, establishing their own Facebook pages. Our research investigates the current Facebook usage among seven university libraries in Hong Kong. Using a mixed-method research approach, we examined the characteristics of academic libraries Facebook usage and its effectiveness to engage with their patrons, based on online observations and Web content analysis from the publicly available data of the Facebook pages.Our results indicated that most libraries in Hong Kong adopted Facebook as a marketing tool, yet the user engagement level in these pages is low. In addition, we also discovered that communication-related posts and video-type posts can attract the most attention of patrons. Based on these outcomes, we provided some recommendations on the application of Facebook for academic libraries.     

我国公共图书馆网站数字资源过量下载情况调查与分析

网络环境下,图书馆数字资源的知识产权保护问题日益受到关注。为了解我国图书馆界对数字资源的保护现状,笔者以我国公共图书馆为例,采用抽样的方法,对国家图书馆、全国31个省级公共图书馆(不含港澳台地区)及部分市级公共图书馆网站关于数字资源过量下载方面的相关规定进行了调查,发现在实际调查的38家公共图书馆网站中仅有5家设有相关规定,这种情况是由图书馆、数据库商、用户等多方面原因造成的。因此,应在法律法规制定、行政管理和计算机技术等方面对以上不足进行改进。     

The impact of leadership and stakeholders on the success/failure of e-government service: Using the case study of e-stamping service in Hong Kong

Using e-stamping service in Hong Kong as a case study, this paper examines the impact of leadership and stakeholders on the success or failure of e-government service in Hong Kong. Multiple methods are used for data collection: documents and archival record research, direct observation, and interviews. Results show that both leadership and stakeholders have an impact on the success of e-stamping service.

香港互联网的发展起源于 2 0世纪 90年代初 ,自 1 994年香港电台上网后 ,香港传媒在网络中的发展一直较为平稳 ,1 999年也形成一定的热潮。但 2 0 0 0年网络泡沫的破灭 ,也给香港网络媒体带来一定的冲击。此后 ,各媒体网站纷纷寻找各自的出路。目前 ,香港媒体网上发展思路主要有 :辅助传统媒体的发展、做门户型网站、做专业型门户网站以及跨媒体发展。从总体看 ,香港媒体网站的相互合作较少 ,新闻处理手段还不够丰富 ,整体影响力还小。

本文调研香港地区8所公立高校图书馆网站,收集其图书馆战略规划信息,选取香港大学图书馆、香港理工大学图书馆及香港岭南大学图书馆最新制定的未来几年战略规划为文本内容,详细对比分析3所高校图书馆的战略规划愿景、使命、目标及其实施计划等内容,总结其制定战略规划的思维过程和框架构建方法,以期为内地高校图书馆制定“十四五”规划提供借鉴。     

浅谈港台中文图书编目

港台图书具有一定的特殊性,作者结合工作实践,通过对港台图书的字形和语言表述差异的描述分析了港台中文图书与内地中文图书的差异性,从出版发行项、版本项和价格等方面的数据著录和主题、分类标引等方面,对港台图书分编过程中出现的问题进行分析,并提出解决的方法,目的是提高港台图书文献编目效率和质量。

GENDER, NEWS MEDIA EXPOSURE AND POLITICAL CYNICISM: PUBLIC OPINION OF HONG KONG'S FUTURE TRANSITION

Marginalized from the center of power, women in Hong Kong maybe particularly vulnerable to the future political transition,as the territory prepares for an exchange from British to Chineserule. How do women feel about the impending changes in HongKong? According to results from a recent (April 1993) representativetelephone survey in Hong Kong (n = 502), women are less likelyto have faith in the political future of Hong Kong than men.Moreover, this relationship between gender and political cynicismbecomes more pronounced when controlling for socio-economicstatus and is more intensive among persons in their middle years.Contrary to expectations, exposure to newspapers does not encouragedistrust, but instead appears to be associated with less cynicismof the future transition, at least among men. Women, on theother hand, are less likely to be susceptible to press coverage.In a context in which political transition is pending, suchas in Hong Kong, it is imperative to attempt to understand theevolution and disintegration of political cynicism, particularlyamong those who may be vulnerable to political change.     

香港图书馆事业发展研究

香港图书馆主要包括公共市政局和区域市政局管属的公共图书馆、高校图书馆及专业图书馆三大系统的图书馆。近二、三十年 ,香港的图书馆事业得到较大发展 ,但也存在发展不平衡、专业教育和科研基础薄弱等缺陷。要进一步发展香港图书馆事业 ,应当在完善发展计划、发展专业教育和研究 ,以及加强内外交流与合作等方面采取措施 ,多多努力。参考文献 9。     

台港澳地区在线信息素质教育情况的比较与分析

台港澳地区在线信息素质教育对处在初步发展阶段的我国大陆地区在线信息素质教育的开展具有重要借鉴意义。文章在调查台港澳地区知名高校的在线信息素质教育平台的基础上，着重对其教育类型和主要特点进行了分析，以此来说明台港澳地区在线信息素质教育的现状。最后结合我国大陆的具体情况及台港澳地区的先进经验，对我国如何有效地开发在线信息素质教育平台，普及信息素质教育提出几点建议。     

港台图书分编过程中的问题与对策

港台图书具有一定的特殊性，本文从语言文字、词汇版式、语译标引等差异性的角度出发，指出港台图书在分类标引过程中的问题，并在对具体问题进行分析的基础上，提出港台图书正确分类编目的途径和方法。

From Local to Global: A Comparison of Hong Kong Library Association Mentoring Programme and International Librarians Network

In today's world, sharing and connecting get easier every day with the rapid development of and ubiquitous access to the World Wide Web. It enables one to acquire information about their profession and connect with people anytime, anywhere. While celebrating this wide availability of information and connectivity, one-to-one personal sharing is not to be dismissed. Instead, we should make the best use of it in developing our profession. Both the Hong Kong Library Association Mentoring Programme and the International Librarians Network are newly launched mentoring programmes addressing the increasing demand for connecting and networking LIS professionals both locally and globally. This paper aims to compare these two mentoring programmes in terms of the successful factors of and learning support given to the Hong Kong LIS community, as well as the effectiveness of these personal sharing platforms. Their strengths, similarities, and impact to the LIS community will be discussed.

Young people and mass media in China

This paper discusses the establishment of overseas editions by some Hong Kong newspapers under the context of the upcoming political transition of Hong Kong in 1997. These overseas editions are viewed as econo‐cultural spin‐off to tap the ‘yacht immigrants’ outflowing from Hong Kong. Various factors involved in the establishment of these overseas editions, as well as their effects and implications are also explored. The Ming Pao's recently established Canada editions are chosen as a case to contrast with the earlier established Sing Tao and World Journal.
