Theory and Practice of Teachers＇ Team Construction of Non-government University in China

The paper is to explore the regularity of teachers＇ team construction of non-government university. In the paper, the author analyzed the instability of the teachers＇ structure and their thoughts; summarize the experience which the non-government university has accumulated over 13 years and put forward the measures to construct non-government university teachers＇ team. That is, to organize the teacher to study the laws and regulations, guide them to dispel the psychological obstacles; pay attention to the emotional fostering with the thought of encourage excellent; carry out the strategy of ＂keep people by emotion, welfare, atmosphere, ideal and good management＂; open new thinking of encouraging excellent. So as to build a comparatively stable, well educated and high-quality team that combines old and young teachers, taking young and the middle aged teachers as the leading factors, not only respects their work but also looks for the truth.     

State Key Lab of CAD＆CG, Zhejiang University, China

Computer Aided Design and Computer Graphics is a cross-disciplinary high-tech research area. The State Key Laboratory of CAD＆CG at Zhejiang University was funded by the National Seventh Five-Year-Plan of China. It began its construction in 1989 and was approved to open to public by the State Education Commission in 1990.

Institutionalizing China’s Research University through Academic Mobility: The Case of PKU

Abstract:

Academic mobility is becoming a tread in academic life and a professional development globally, regionally and nationally. This article makes use of a case university—Peking University (PKU)—as an analytical approach to explore how and why academic mobility can happen in China’s research universities. The author first presents an overview of the academic mobility at PKU from a historical perspective, and then describes the changing status quo of its academic mobility that has undergone for three decades. In the third part, the author analyzes and discusses the outcome made by the academic mobility from both positive and negative sides. In the end, the author notes that academic mobility is one among the best ways to internationalize China’s research universities, including PKU.     

A Research on the Construction of University R＆D Management Team in China

The system of Chinese universities R＆D as a branch of the system of the whole country R＆D, has a great effect on the development and innovation of country＇s science and technique. Consequently, it＇s important to construct an effective management team with high diathesis for University R＆D management. Based on the statistics of the case study, this thesis finds out some problems of management team function, and other problems, therefore gives some proposals on R＆D management team construction.     

Quasi-experimental evidence of academic peer effects at an Elite University in People’s Republic of China

This paper examines the effects of roommates on students’ academic outcomes exploiting the randomized roommate assignment system at a selective Chinese university. Unlike earlier studies that could not measure students’ academic quality precisely, this paper makes two important improvements in measuring their English proficiency and overall academic aptitude. I find that randomly assigned roommates’ average pre-treatment academic abilities are not significant determinants of students’ academic performance across a number of different specifications. However, students are significantly influenced by roommates’ decisions in terms of the number of elective course credits taken and the choice of major.
