为情而戏:汤显祖与蒋士铨

汤显祖、蒋士铨同为江西籍的戏曲大家,他们的共同之处在于“为情而戏”。但他们所论之“情”由于所处时代不同而具有不同的内涵。这在他们所塑造的女性人物身上分别表现出“以情抗理”及“以情存理”的不同学创作主张。     

论蒋士铨《临川梦》中“梦”的三个层次

蒋士铨《临川梦》传奇中以"梦"命名的关目占全剧近一半的篇幅,就剧情发展来看,《临川梦》在梦中达到高潮,又在梦中结束全剧;从命名来看,整部戏冠以"临川梦"之名,而非"汤显祖"或"汤显祖传",不难看出其落脚点正在于"梦"字。本文认为《临川梦》中"梦"包含了三个层次:隐喻了主人公汤显祖如梦的一生;展现了汤显祖寄情于梦,将人生的思索与感受熔铸在"临川四梦"之中的创作过程;同时蒋士铨借汤显祖和"临川四梦"之题来表现自己的情理观和人生观。

清代著名文学家蒋士铨,江西铅山人。他举过进士,任过乾隆时翰林院编修(管理编辑史料一类的官)。蒋士铨对戏曲很有研究,尤其精于南北曲,是清代著名的戏曲作家,作有杂剧和传奇十六种,在当时评价很高。他不媚权贵,重义气,蔑视功名利禄,表现出不同于一般封建文人的志节。他常对人说自己的学业成就全赖母亲的辛勤培养。蒋士铨的母亲姓钟名令嘉,江西南昌市人。父亲蒋坚,为人很讲义气,平时敢于抱不平,乐于助人,喜欢结交朋友,见到别人家里有困难,经常拿

蒋士铨书院戏曲创作高潮形成的客观原因

乾隆三十年至乾隆四十年之间,是蒋士铨戏曲创作的一次高潮。在此期间,他流转于江浙一带的书院,共创作了五部剧作。蒋士铨中年书院时期戏曲创作高潮的形成除却与他早年的坎坷遭际与南归之后的复杂心态密切相关外,也有一定的客观促因:江浙地区戏曲品评之风的盛行、演出活动的激励以及众多剧作家汇聚所形成的客观文化环境都对蒋氏的戏剧创作产生了积极的影响。
