Educating the pupil voice

In this article John Quicke shares his concern to promote the active participation of pupils in their schools and communities. Here he argues strongly that an inclusive philosophy requires an interactionist view of learning. However, he considers that we have much yet to learn about how to identify pupils' views of learning and how these views may be encouraged to become ‘broader, more reflective and more compatible with an inclusive view of learning.’

谁的声音？为何而说：学生话语研究概述

学生话语(Student voice)的研究是二十世纪后期西方社会和教育界对儿童问题、教育问题认识不断深化的结果,也是七十年代以来政治、哲学、社会经济和教育研究领域在反思教育变革研究方面的一种尝试.经过多年的探索,学生话语研究由早期的"游离模式"转向"合作对话模式",并发展到学生话语(Student Voice)、学生作为研究合作者(Students-as-researchers,简称SAR)和学生参与管理(Pupil Consultation,简称PC)三种模式.借鉴其研究思路,彰显学生在教育创新中的作用,对我国的教育研究和教学改革实践有一定的启示作用.

本文通过对美国历史上最伟大的诗人之一瓦尔特．惠特曼创作的《草叶集》的学习，了解了他的诗歌中对同志之爱、同性恋的歌颂，并结合当前社会乃至全世界对同性恋这个特殊的群体的歧视，指出了我们社会对争取同性爱平等权益的道路、责任和义务。     

Giving voice in educational research

This paper explores some classroom approaches that student teachers on a Postgraduate Certificate in Education course tend to associate with inspirational teaching in English, and contrasts these with the direct interactive teaching recently advocated by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education and National Curriculum authorities for developing literacy. Interactive teaching can provide useful models of the strategies that mature readers use with different texts, and it can be encouraged in beginning teachers. Yet, inspirational teaching seems to offer more than this, and in less predictable ways than normal classroom competence. The dialogism and ‘answerabil‐ity’ that are central to the work of Bakhtin offer one way of exploring the relationship between self and other, and between subject as developing person and subject as sanctioned curriculum content, that may be operating in classrooms where pupils find themselves inspired to learn.     

Learning: The pupil's voice

Summaries are given of research on the learner's role in learning and pupils' attitudes to school and it is argued that few studies have collected the views of young children on learning. This provides the rationale for a pilot study which probed the perceptions of a sample of 44 Year 2 and Year 6 children in schools in and around London. The findings indicate that children as young as seven can conceptualise 'learning' and are able to articulate learning strategies and processes they use. It is suggested that the pupil's voice is an increasingly important element in furthering our understanding of teaching and learning more generally.
