A while ago,I was treated to a couple of pampering weeks in the beautiful mountains of Santa Barbara,California.I had asked my friends if I could stay in their guest house for the time I was finishing a book I was working on.

自2005年以来,北京市教委每年举行一次全市范围的中小学教师优秀课堂教学设计评比活动,至今已举行5届。此项活动是通过以案例为核心的教学设计研究。引导教师从以往单一的教案撰写转变为进行有意识的教学设计活动,有效地帮助教师对课堂教学进行研究和反思,深入开展课堂教学改革。

聋校"分层递进"教学的探索和实践

笔者在上海聋哑青年技术学校就聋校高-数学"分解因式"这一教学内容进行了一个学期的"分层递进"教学的探索和实践,并对聋生的学习状态作了相关的问卷调查,对所获得的信息进行了统计、比较、分析,结果表明"分层递进"教学法明显优于以统一教学为目标进行的"传统"教学法,使各层次聋生都能在原有基础上积极"递进".

The best source of infant learning toys is the trash can. A noted authority on infancy made this statement...me. Many commercially made toys and learning materials are available. Some of them were developed out of a firm knowledge of developmental tasks of infancy and with aesthetic sensitivity. Unfortunately they cost, and many of us who have our own infants or work in day care do not have resources for a lot of commercial materials.Mr. Altham taught infants and toddlers while studying at Bank Street College. After teaching in a Head Start program for four years, he moved to his current job as teacher/director of a college campus child care center.     

Interventions in teaching first-year law: feeding forward to improve learning outcomes

Aligned assessment is a cornerstone of higher education curriculum design. Yet, it does not address the problem of how students learn how they should proceed when faced with a new assessment task. That teaching task is often left to the role of ‘feedback’. This article examines changes to a first year law unit, introduced following negative student feedback about an assessment task. The feedback made apparent a lack of alignment between staff and student expectations as to what was being assessed and how it was being assessed. The article considers formative assessment through a feed-forward model, and relates this to the design and process of the intervention. The teaching method of the feed-forward model is detailed. The analysis of the results shows that a number of key misperceptions were held by students as to the points of difficulty in the assignment. A significant number of students also found it extremely difficult to judge the quality of past assignments against a marking guide. This direct feeding forward allowed some of the students’ tacit and false assumptions to emerge and be addressed, before they began their first major assessment, resulting in improved pass rates for the assessment.     

Whitehead and a new look at teaching elementary science

If Whitehead is right, science teachers who try to increase student interest by making the science they teach more pure and by covering more material are going about their work in just the wrong way. Science, for purposes of precision in measurement, translates the dynamic world of feeling and force, of causal efficacy (for example, the San Francisco earthquake), into a static representation spatialized and given presentational immediacy (for example, the Richter scale). But notice that the Richter scale isn't very interesting (even as abstract art) apart from its connection, via symbolic reference, to the earthquake. Such reference is essential to give both a sense of reality and a feeling of interes to the subject, but it makes the science less pure, and it takes more time to cover the material. An example of teaching pure and impure formal logic is given as a case study.

如何在中学语文教学中张扬人文精神

语文不只是思维与交际的工具,更是人文精神的载体。可以这么说,语言系统的学习和运用,人文精神的积淀和养成,应是语文教育的两个基本价值坐标。这一点,已经体现在国家颁布的新课标之中:“语文是最重要的交际工具,是人类文化的重要组成部分。工具性和人文性的统一,是语文课程的基本特点。”(《语文课程标准》)。然而,由于受应试教育的功利性影响,我们片面地强调语文工具性的一面,而忽视了语文的人文性的一面,导致语文教学中人文精神的张扬严重不足。中学语文教材所选的古今中外文学作品中,不仅积淀着丰富的语言知识,也积淀着深厚的人文意蕴。…

笔者以现代教学媒体应用为出发点，重点论述了多媒体教学在课堂应用中的优势。传统教学手段与现代教学媒体的关系，以及教师在应用多媒体进行教学时应注意的相关问题。     

Understanding the complexity of preschool teaching in Hong Kong: The way forward to professionalism

In Hong Kong, preschool education has been viewed either as preparation for primary education or as custodial care to suit working mothers. These ambiguous images of preschool teachers and teaching are definitely a roadblock to professionalization. This paper critically analyzes the professionalization of preschool education in the local context. Arguing that quality of practice is the cornerstone for improving the status of preschools and their teachers, it examines the complexity of professional knowledge and practice from two aspects: building knowledge and using knowledge. The former concerns child development theory as the knowledge base for practice and the latter addresses the factors affecting transformation of knowledge to pedagogy in the classroom context. Finally, it suggests that action research may provide a better grounding for professionalization.
