Constituting “the People” as Rhetorical Interruption: Barack Obama and the Unfinished Hopes of an Imperfect People

This article explores how Barack Obama's oratory positions “the people” as a site of ongoing rhetorical negotiation regarding national identity, ideology, and potentiality. Like the subjects implicated in Charland's consideration of constitutive rhetoric, “the people” of Obama's rhetoric emerge as the choosers, deciders, and accomplishers of collaborative identity performance. Unlike Charland's subjects, however, Obama's rhetoric of imperfection and dissent positions “the people” as never fully constituted but always engaged in the act of constitution. The people, like the country they constitute, are flawed, never perfect, and always in the process of perfecting.     

“Big Deals” and Squeaky Wheels: Taking Stock of Your Stats

This article describes a half-day pre-conference focused on the ins and outs of assessing “Big Deals.” The presenters gave an overview of issues related to “Big Deals,” and engaged the attendees in discussions about their own experiences with the topic. They then detailed the process of assessing “Big Deals” at their institution, including their methods for evaluating usage statistics. Attendees were provided with sample Excel spreadsheets for hands-on exercises to practice applying the methods described.     

“Born This Way”: Queer Vernacular and the Politics of Origins

This essay critically examines debates about the supposed inborn nature of sexual orientation. Although popular discourses suggest that sexual orientation is an immutable characteristic, several scholars and activists have argued there is danger in postulating same-sex desire is innate. This analysis looks to another feature of the controversy, arguing that when queers themselves utilize “born this way” rhetoric, they frequently do so in surprising ways that rest outside dichotomist forms of reasoning. Exploring posts on the “Born This Way” blog, this essay argues that vernacular appropriations of the phrase are more fluid among LGBT publics than often imagined, allowing for a rethinking of the epistemology of the closet.

Image Repair on the Donald Trump “Access Hollywood” Video: “Grab Them by the P*ssy”

In October 2016, Donald Trump was in the midst of a hotly contested and sharply divisive presidential campaign. Days before the second presidential debate, The Washington Post posted a video of Trump “having extremely lewd conversation about women in 2005.” This video and the firestorm of criticism it provoked threatened to derail his presidential run. Mr. Trump and his wife Melania Trump offered several messages to repair his damaged image. This article analyzes and evaluates these image repair messages concerning Donald Trump’s “Access Hollywood” video. In such a divisive context, the defense had no hope of repairing Trump’s image with the general public (Trump lost the popular vote by 2.9 million). Even though he lost the popular vote, the business magnate won the Electoral College. We cannot say that the “Access Hollywood” video was solely responsible for Trump’s poor popular vote showing, but it is clear that this defense did not completely dispel the cloud surrounding him.     

技术时代公共图书馆“场所”价值的社会公众认知研究——基于公共平台网络评论文本分析北大核心CSSCI

在技术时代,公共图书馆作为实体空间的"场所"价值,是关乎图书馆未来发展的重要内容。从公众认知角度探索图书馆"场所"价值,能够发现影响图书馆事业发展的重要因素。经过全面梳理和系统分析,选择上海图书馆、浦东图书馆和滨海新区图书馆三所代表性公共图书馆在公共平台上的网络评论信息,综合运用Python、Jieba分词、SnowNLP等数据采集与分析工具,从高频词分布、情感分析和时间序列三个维度,对社会公众认知情况进行了文本挖掘。分析结果表明,公共图书馆仍然是重要的公共阅读"场所";公共图书馆"场所"服务颇受欢迎,社会评价极为正面;促进文旅融合发展,是当前社会公众对公共图书馆"场所"价值认知的特征所在。在技术时代,公共图书馆应当高度重视"场所"价值的公众认知新变化,可以将文旅融合作为未来发展阶段的重要内容,助力公共图书馆高质量发展。     

“互联网+”工程项目档案管理探析:特征、机遇与挑战

工程项目档案是项目建设的产物,也是其验收、运营管理与改扩建的重要依据,具有较强的凭证作用和参考价值。"互联网+"背景下,档案管理向智能化和数字化方向发展。本研究以此为出发点,采用政策分析、文献调查、跨学科研究等方法,将档案学视角与工程管理相结合,探究"互联网+"工程项目档案管理的建设特色,分析其面临的政策完善化、资源共享化、技术智能化和人才多元化机遇以及政策落地不完善、资源共建不充分、技术发展不健全和责任落实不完备的挑战,以期为我国"互联网+"工程项目档案管理发展带来思考。     

“同城共读”理念与“分地阅读推广”--2016—2021年南京市全民阅读“一月一名著”推荐书目解读

从“分地阅读推广”与“同城共读”的理念出发,围绕2016—2021年“共读南京”专家组遴选荐读的63本好书,分析了该荐读书目的三个基本特点,探讨了该荐读书目对探索分地阅读推广、凝聚地方文化自信力以及推动中华经典名著阅读的意义,并从把握阅读推广重点、创新推广活动形式和增强荐读书目宣传力度三方面,对“共读南京”品牌阅读活动的进一步提升提出了建议。     

高被引论文与“睡美人”论文引用曲线及影响因素研究

[目的/意义]通过对潜在“睡美人”论文的引用分布分析,提炼其特征,以期为“睡美人”论文的预判研究提供思路。[方法/过程]采用引用曲线这一更为直观的反映论文引用分布的方法,以“天文学和天体物理”这一领域为例,构建其10的高被引论文、“睡美人”论文的10-20年被引用数据并进行引文分布的对比分析。[结果/结论]研究发现两类文献的引用曲线模式及特点——高被引论文的持续增长型、显峰型、双峰型、振荡型,“睡美人”论文的持续增长型、显峰型、双峰型、振荡型、稳定型等被引用曲线模式;针对施引文献、研究主题演化方向探讨了各模式引用曲线形成的相关因素,发现两类文献达到引用高峰的时间存在差异。     

论图书馆典籍类视频的“带入”感

本文通过对国内图书馆典籍类视频资源的现状进行分析,总结出其资源建设中出现的问题:视频内容形式不够生动流畅、传播渠道局限、互动形式不够丰富等,从而导致读者观看时很难产生强烈的“带入”感。结合实际,本文提出了丰富视频内容、创新传播方式、增加互动形式的改进建议。同时,对典籍类视频的未来发展方向,提出了综合性的典籍资源平台建设、VR技术引入以及互动视频的应用这三方面的未来设想。     

“互联网+”环境下档案微信建设的SWOT分析——基于全国档案微信公众号的调查

档案微信自推出以来得到越来越多的关注和利用,在“互联网+”时代也面临着前所未有的机遇和挑战。本文基于实际调研,分析了我国档案微信公众号的建设现状,并运用SWOT分析法分析了“互联网+”环境下档案微信建设的内部优势、劣势与外部机会、威胁因素,提出应充分把握时代契机,应用先进技术,明确自身定位,创新服务方式,同时克服自身不足与外部威胁,发挥社交媒体在档案工作中的最大作用。     

Benefits to Collection Development Librarians from Collaborating with “Community-Embedded” Librarians-In-Training

The 21st century collection manager encounters serious challenges in collection development (e.g., budget shortages, lack of skilled personnel, lower agency prioritization, and reduced available staff time). This article explores a practical, low-cost solution to these challenges that prevent collection developers from regularly creating/managing adequately balanced collections. It discusses the role of 93 “community-embedded” librarians-in-training to develop contextually situated collections in a graduate course taught seven times in an information sciences program in a southern land grant university. Findings of collection management activity tasks completed during the course provide evidence of accrued tangible outcomes/benefits to motivate collection development librarians and their information agencies collaborate with librarians-in-training in future initiatives.     

Contesting Communities

This introductory article to the combined special issue of Journalism Studies and Journalism Practice provides an overview of some of the key contemporary approaches to studying journalism and social order. It argues the need to step beyond a functionalist framework when considering the news media’s central role in shaping social connections, community and cohesion. To advance our understandings of social order, our paper suggests a greater emphasis of the significance of journalism’s relationship to the wider social sphere along with three other key considerations, including (1) a critical focus on the relationship between media, politics and social order, especially in defining and/or negotiating “anti-social” practices and social disintegration; (2) a more refined focus on the “imagined” and geographic boundaries of news audiences in digital spaces; and (3) the changing relationship to norms and conventions of journalism practice from trust and legitimacy to the role of journalists as arbiters and connectors across social spaces.     

中国古代“案族”文档名词研究

“案族”文档名词是指含有单音词“案”的文档名词,主要包括“文案”“案牍”“案卷”“档案”“书案”“案牒”“案记”等名词,是中国古代文档名词中的一个重要组成部分。“案族”文档名词中的名词数量相对较少,大部分名词使用频次较低,但“文案”“案牍”“案卷”“档案”等词都具有重要学术研究价值。本文以计量语言学的方法,分析了“案族”及该族类内主要文档名词的基本使用特点及发展规律。     

The Political in Cultural Journalism

This article explores how nine Swedish cultural editors and managers in mainstream media institutions define cultural journalism and its political dimensions during times of increased digitization and media convergence. Swedish cultural journalism is aesthetic and political critique applied to subject areas (music, literature, etc.) and contemporary societal and ethical issues. Drawing on Zelizer we ask whether there is a common interpretive community of cultural journalists in different media regarding: (1) how they define their scope, (2) how they understand “the political” in cultural journalism and its implications for democracy, and (3) how they view media convergence and digitalization. We find that although editors/managers from different media share a basic understanding of cultural journalism as an alternative perspective to news, “the political” in cultural journalism is approached differently in the press and the public service broadcast media. Furthermore, due in part to structural conditions, they also see the effects of digitization differently, forming sub-communities on two counts. This study thus contributes new knowledge to a field previously focused almost exclusively on newspapers.

科研成果被重要数据库收录、引证等量化评价结果是查收查引提供的主要服务内容,也是衡量“双一流”建设发展水平的重要评价工具。文章采取网络调研法对102家教育部认证的科技查新工作站进行调研,针对“双一流”建设中高校评价对查收查引服务的需求进行分析。以调研结果为基础,明确查收查引服务在“双一流”建设高校评价需求下凸显的问题,继而针对分析的问题,提出相应的解决措施。

以“211工程”高校数字图书馆为研究对象,以问卷调查为主要研究方法,对已有研究提出的指标在我国的适用性进行了调查和分析。
