REPORT OF THE INVESTIGATION OF CURRICULUM AND VOLUNTARY BIBLE STUDY IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

This article reviews the challenges provided by a plural condition toward doing religious education in the Philippines. The problem of Philippine religious education hinges on the fact that the growing plural condition in the educational system remains until now “un-discussed” or integrated in many schools. Not much is heard about proposing a platform of dialogue within religious education. Dialogue is more often associated with inter-faith initiatives beyond the learning environment. If religious education should be an instrument in the formation of the right Christian attitudes among the young, dialogue must be an urgent Christian agenda in Philippine religious education.     

北京市残疾儿童、少年随班就读调查报告

大力开展残疾儿童少年随班就读是普及残疾儿童义务教育的需要。它既符合国情，是发展残疾儿童少年义务教育的主要形式，也符合国际上残疾儿童少年教育发展的大趋势。“七五”中期至“八五”期间，北京市在开展盲、低视力、聋和重听以及轻度弱智儿童随班就读方面进行了较为广泛的实验。这次对随班就读工作的全面调查和分析，为贯彻北京市特殊教育“九五”发展规划中提出的“巩固、发展、完善、提高”一方针，使北京市残疾儿童随班就读工作发展到一个新的水平，提供借鉴和参考。     

天津市残疾儿童、少年随班就读调查报告

通过典型调查，就天津市九年义务教育的基本情况、现有的特殊教育评估体系、随班就读的规模、安置形式、分布情况及各界的态度反映和对随班就读的教学、管理、评估与师资培训等十二个方面问题进行研究，反映出天津市随班就读效果的实际情况，并通过调查探索残疾儿童少年成功随班就读的决定因素，为推广随班就读的原则、措施、方法提供理论依据，促进这项事业更快发展。     

上海市残疾儿童、少年随班就读工作调研报告

通过对上海市残疾儿童、少年随班就读工作调查，上海市取得的主要经验表现在组织管理、政策保障、入学鉴定、就学管理、师资培训、教学研究方面，同时对随班就读存在的问题加以明确。本文在对随班就读教师、家长问卷调查结果分析基础上指出：教师和家长在随班就读工作中起重要作用。     

FACTOR ANALYSIS OF THE K–ABC FOR GROUPS OF ANGLO AND MEXICAN AMERICAN CHILDREN

Factor analyses of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K–ABC) were performed on separate groups of Anglo (n = 100) and Mexican American (n = 100) fifth-grade children to determine the comparability of underlying structures and to examine the existence of possible bias in construct validity of the K–ABC for each group. The subjects were selected from two contiguous school districts and stratified by grade, socioeconomic status (SES), and language status. A principal factor analysis produced two factors in the Mental Processing area and three factors in the total battery (Mental Processing plus Achievement areas) for the two groups. Examination of the coefficients of congruence indicated factorial similarity across four of five factors. Furthermore, the factors that emerged for the Anglo and Mexican American groups corresponded to the scales comprising the K–ABC. The results of the investigation provide some evidence for the construct validity of the K–ABC for the two ethnic groups. Further test bias research on the K–ABC is recommended.

本文在回顾我国职称制度发展历程、调研部分地区高校教师职称评聘现状基础上,分析了专业技术任职资格评审与职务聘任两种制度的内涵和异同,提出将职称资格评审与职务聘任分离,发挥职称评审的人才评价与激励作用,完善职务聘任的岗位系统管理功能。

The purpose of this column is to keep religious educators abreast of the relevant significant research in the general field of psychology. Its implications for methods and materials in religious education are clear. Religious educators may well take advantage of every new finding in scientific research.

Each abstract or group is preceded by an evaluation and interpretative comment, which aims to guide the reader in understanding the research reported.

THE WARNOCK REPORT ON SPECIAL EDUCATION

The following paper is adapted from the Association's formal response to the DES consultative document on the Warnock Report. The Working Party responsible for the Response's formulation submitted the document to the journal since it was felt that the issues raised were of wide interest and importance.     

RECOGNITION OF DIPLOMAS AND DEGREES: REPORT ON THE APPLICATION OF THE EUROPEAN DIPLOMA CONVENTION CONCLUDED UNDER THE AUSPICES OF UNESCO

The European Convention on the Recognition of Studies, Diplomas, and Degrees concerning Higher Education was adopted in 1979. Thirty‐two countries have signed it, and 28, including Australia, have ratified it. In addition to reporting on the obstacles encountered and the progress achieved with regard to adoption, this article also reports on various activities which took place and are continuing to take place as direct or indirect spin‐offs of the Convention. These include subregional conventions, bilateral agreements, meetings, and the creation of national information bodies. The role and activities of CEPES as the Secretariat of the Regional Committee for the Application of the Convention are described.     

SITUATION OF TEACHING AND RESEARCH PERSONNEL IN THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY ‐ REPORT PRESENTED AT THE CRE CONFERENCE

The information presented below is based on a report entitled “Maintaining the Vitality of the University in Matters concerning the Teaching and Research Personnel” written by Professor Rudolf Wildenmann, Rector of the University of Mannheim. This report was presented during the 16th Semestrial Conference of the Standing Conference of Rectors and Vice‐Chancellors of the European Universities (CRE), held from 27 to 28 April 1978 in Salamanca, Spain.

The Conference concentrated on “The Prospects for the Universities after a Period of Expansion”. Besides Professor Wildenmann's report, two other basic reports were presented. They dealt with the following issues:

• "Maintaining the Vitality of the University in the Field of Finance” by Professor Jean Touscoz, Rector of the University of Nice,

• "Maintaining the Vitality of the University in Student Matters” by Mr. James Drever, Principal of the University of Dundee.

     

REPORT ON THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE EQUIVALENCE CONVENTIONS

The report sums up the role and scope of the various Council of Europe Conventions on the recognition of credentials and qualifications in higher education from 1953 when the first one was signed to the present day. Six documents are presented; four are analysed in some detail. The historical, legal, and educational contexts are discussed as are the core principles with regard to application: Finally some suggestions are made on how to expand the contexts of these conventions and to move towards a diversified all‐European recognition system.
