This unusual play has neither plot nor intrigue. There are two main characters, Vladmir and Estrigon. They are simply two human beings, with no normal characteristics such as family, class or profession, who face the basic human situation that Beckett defines thus： ＂ Existing in the world but not knowing what they arethere for.＂ Since people are rational and cannot imagine being in a situation that is entirely pointless, the two characters assume that they must be waiting for somebody. This person, whom they call Godot, tantalizes them by promising to come, but he never does so.

However, Jason is heartless who he does not care his family. His tragedy lies in the decay of human nature. From Identity to Facility—The New Buildings for the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen

This analysis seeks to unite both an architectural and an educational perspective on the transformation of the university into a postmodern institution. Our point of departure is an analysis of the new buildings for the Faculty of Humanities University of Copenhagen which are located on the island area of Amager, to the south of Copenhagen's centre. To put the transformation into perspective we will also consider the respective older buildings that house the universities of Copenhagen and Oslo. The analysis will illustrate how the university as an institution has changed in terms of characteristics, position in society and its understanding of itself. Previously, the university was a clearly defined institution, which had both the process of Bildung (liberal education) and the production of objective knowledge as its goal. Today's university has become a institution, which seeks to develop competence rather than Bildung and to facilitate knowledge in the Network Society. These changes can be explicated by the French philosopher Lyotard's analysis of the position of knowledge within the postmodern sphere.

This essay is trying to explore how the arts students experience the teaching and learning context in the English class of the col lege from the phenomenography perspective.The qualitative research methodology of phenomenography has traditionally required a man ual sorting and analysis of interview data.To study the teaching and learning context,the qualitative research method will be applied,and the data collection will base on the face-to-face interview.There are 8 sophomores were interviewed after they had one year study in col lege.The research findings reveal that most student in interview gradually get used to college English class,but never think about changing their learning approach even they study one year in a totally different teaching and learning environment.

The Study of Semantic Functional Equivalence of Predicates in Xi Youji and Its English Version Journey to the West—From the Perspective of Transitivity Theory

Equivalence in translation was first put forward by Firth. It has been the nuclear topic of translation studies in western countries."Functional equivalence", Eugene Nida’s key notion of translation theories, advocated the receptor-oriented translation standard. Through the contrastive study between Xi Youji and its English version Journey to the West, the content focuses on the translation of the verbal predicates and aims at studying the application of transitivity theory into Chinese-English translation and finding out the improved translations of Chinese and English examples of different processes. Due to limited article, this paper only discusses three of six processes in the concrete context and provides new translations for the questioned ones. Finally, the last part summarizes that the functional equivalence can be achieved when verbs referring to process of action share the same semantic attribute with the Chinese originals, so the English version of Xi Youji should be further perfected according to transitivity theory.
