Review of Research on Dropout Problem of Chinese Distance Educational Learners in Last Decade

ZHOU Jing ＆ WANG Yun-wu （Research Institute of Education, Educational Informatization Engineering Technology Research Center of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Normal University, Xuzhou 221116, China） Abstract： High dropout rate has been a problem impeding the healthy development of Chinese modem distance edu- cation. At present, the research on this problem has made enormous strides, and has promoted the development of modem distance education in China. This paper reviews literature published from 2004 to 2013 in this area from aspects of quantity, content, publications and researchers, and analyzes the latest six Educational Technology International Forums in terms of their themes. Then the paper summarizes the findings and existing problems. Finally the paper puts forward the development pros- pects of the research, aiming to give some insights to subsequent researchers. Research on Strategies to Explore Education Oriented towards Staff of Modern Enterprises --Development Transforming from E-Learning to U-Learning

Abstract： Modem information technology has been continuously innovating and bringing about great changes to educa- tion, for instance, ubiquitous learning is now becoming the most prevailing model of electronic learning （E-learning）. Modem enterprises are therefore facing challenge to adopt optimum strategies to explore their staff training. This paper proposes that emphases shall be laid on the following aspects： （1） the training contents shall highly correlate with the employees＇ positional responsibilities; （2） their learning resources shall be open and generative; and （3） the training process shall be human-based and self-adoptive.

Ten Years of Development of Online Higher Education in the United States and Insights --Survey of Annual Reports of Sloan Consortium between 2003 and 2012

Abstract： For ten consecutive years from 2003 to 2013, Sloan Consortium has published research reports about online higher education in the United States. The present study exams those reports and analyzes its development history of the past decade from persectives of its general situation, future orientation and major obstacles, lending some insights to Chinese distance education.     

Review and Prospects of Diversified Approaches to Constructing Learning Centers-A Case Study of Guangzhou Open University

Guangzhou Open University （GZOU） has been considering the system construction as an important approach to extending the Radio and TV university （RTVU） education to the grass-root stratum and establishing bases for developing talents. For years, in addition to local RTVUs, GZOU has established an array of learning centers by cooperating with more than 100 partners from a variety of industries, enterprises, secondary and higher vocational schools, social organizations, groups and other training institutions. Such learning centers have taken on different characteristics corresponding to the school＇s three developmental phases, that is, period before 1999, when the Open Education Pilot Project was launched; that between 1999 and 2006, when the Conclusive Evaluation was implemented; and the one after 2006. At present, the constitution of Learning Center in GZOU System holds out some notable features as follows： diversity of collaborators and cooperative modes, and extensiveness of function and orientation. These strengths would facilitate the GZOU＇s endeavor to transform itself from a local RTVU into the Open University.

Marathon fever is suddenly sweeping across China. Since 2014, city marathons have been the fastest developing and most influential road running races in China with the largest number of participants. According to the Chinese Athletic Association, 53 marathons were held in China in 2014, 134 in 2015, a sharp increase of 14% on 2014, and the number reached 328 in 2016, with over 2.8 million runners. In 2017, there were 1102 marathons and marathon-related road running races in China with no fewer than 800 runners each, and nearly 10 million participants. It can be argued that marathon races are becoming a sports carnival and the name card of the development of a city in China. But there are also many questions worth exploring: Why is the marathon suddenly so popular? What are people’s experiences like with running the marathon? What problems does it reveal? And how will it impact economy? etc. Sports Review in this issue publishes articles by Ji Chenglong, D. Mgt. at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Sun Ke, Ed.D. at Beijing Institution of Education and Chen Guoqiang, Ph. D. in Journalism and Communication at Shanghai University of Sport. They will discuss the marathon mania in China from the perspectives of the market, society and race participation.     

论“Physical Education”的第三种解读——“Education in the Physical”

摘要：美国社会对“Physical Education”一词的解读和认识在经历了“Education of the Physical”（即“针对身体的教育”）和“Education through the Physical”（即“通过身体的教育”）两种阶段后,目前出现了第三种解读和认识,即“Education in the Physical”。为探寻“Education in the Physical”被提出背后的教育理念、社会背景和时代意义等,通过文献研究法、历史研究法、比较印证法等,将“Education in the Physical”短语分解成三个部分分别进行解析,阐明了“Education through the Physical”的教育理念、价值取向、对人的影响程度和方式等问题,最后总结了“Education in the Physical”被提出的意义与进步,并抛出了三种中译方式供后续研究者参考。研究揭示了美国社会对“Physical Education”一词的解读和认识有着深刻的社会发展与时代变革背景。解读出了在“Education in the Physical”口号中蕴含的“全人教育”、关注精神层面的深刻意义和理念。研究结果对我国学校体育改革、发展的指导思想、价值取向、理念设定也具有一定的理论与实践的借鉴意义。

Open education and Study Tutoring System Construction
Open education has become an important approach to obtaining knowledge. Open education can be better positioned to provide more effective guidance and support to learners when a tutoring system is constructed, which consists of the following six components ： subject or course need analysis, analysis of characteristics of student groups, mentor teacher selection, creation of tutoring environment, design of tutoring activities and tutoring monitoring mechanism. This article endeavors to build up a mode of study tutoring system for TV University open education, based on introduction to Peking University＇s experience in employing an educational guiding platform, so as to provide some insights to the improvement of open education or online study quality.     

美国学校体育教育动机研究分析及启示

通过EBSCO体育学术资料电子检索平台对美国4种影响因子较高的体育教育类杂志《Journal of Teaching in Physical Education》《Review of Educational Research》《Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport》《Journal of Educational Psychology》进行体育教育动机类论文检索,分析并归纳20年来在4大动机理论影响下3个研究阶段中美国学校体育教育动机的研究成果.以SEM结构方程构建实证基础,分析动机变量与能力类结果变量不对接现象的症结所在,通过美国学校体育动机研究分析其对我国学校体育教学实践的启示:借鉴美国学校体育教育动机的研究成果及科学研究方法;从实验探索以及能力动机源入手,充分挖掘课程动机;完善体育教育的文化传承功能,探索长效研究机制.

Analysis of Research Hotspots of Educational Technology Studies in China between 2010 and 2012 - Perspective of Word Frequency Statistics
Abstract： This paper adopts the method of word frequency analysis to survey the key words of articles published in the seven CSSCI source journals of education technology studies issued between 2010 and 2012, and employs instruments like SPSS 18.0 and Microsoft Office 2007 to analyze the data. Results reveal that the majority of researches in the past three years concentrated on such topics as distance education, educational informationalization, educational technology, information tech- nology （studies）, teaching design, mobile learning, network course, open university, and cloud computing.     

Abstract

On Research of Thematically Innovating Comprehensive Chinese Learning in Junior Middle School
Comprehensive Chinese is a course affiliated to the Chinese studies, and aims to expand students＇thinking space, enrich their knowledge, cultivate their ability of active exploration and practice, and develop their overall skills of listen- ing, speaking, reading and writing.The article illustrates some practical strategies to thematically innovate the comprehensive Chinese learning.     

CONFLICT AND INTEGRATION:CHINA IN THE OLYMPIC MOVEMENT

Research into the history and causes of the connict and integration between the Olympic Movement and Chinese sport and its socio-cultural background, found that the historical process could be divided into four stages: conflict as a main theme, integration within connict, conflict within integration, and even greater integration. The intense conflict between the two sides reflected the great social differences between industrial and agricultural civilization as well as the natural distinctions of the cultural systems between the West and the East. The social changes in China have provided a proper condition for their integration.China’s return to the Olympic family and the development of the new market economy after opening and reform have provided a new historic opportunity for a further integration of the two sides. A new trend of mutual exchange between the two has started, which will benefit both of them.     

On Running TVU under Guideline of Business Operation

In this respect, A TVU is comparable to a business, whose operation ideolo- gy is what it lacks. Thus, under the condition of market economy, the TVU shall learn to be operated like a business. However, it cannot be run solely for the purpose of profit - making, neither at the expense of eroding its overall system and downgrading its education quality.

On the Hero’s Tragedy in The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is the representative work of F.Scott Fitzgerald,the famous American novelist in the 20th century.In a deep and concise tone,it tells readers a tragedy about the break of the American Dream.Gatsby lived in the Jazz Age and pursued his dream persistently but finally failed.Through his tragedy,we can discover the social root of his failure,the impetuousness of the Lost Generation and the disenchantment of the American Dream.     

Research on the Free Trade Zone Policy and the Development of International Logistics at Ports

The port is an important link in the transportation system of international logistics. The paper discusses the issue of a free trace zone policy and the development of international logistics in ports, showing the positive effects of the performance of a free trade zone policy on constructing international logistics hubs, strengthening the transshipment functions of ports and enhancing the competitiveness of the port enterprises.     

EFFECT OF EXERCISE ON THE ACTIVITY OF 5α-REDUCTASE IN THE CYTOSOL OF LIVER,KIDNEY AND PROSTATE

It has a different change in androgen in serum and some special tissue after exercise, and it is according to the sensate and time of exercise. It is necessary to study the metabolism of teststerrone in some tissue after exercise, This experiment is using the technology of thin chromatography to analyse the 5α-reductase in tissue and calculated the rate of T metabolism. Because of the activity of 5α-reducatase that is too low, that the activity of 5α-reducatase in muscle and brain has not been tested. The exercise could develop the activity of 5α-reducatase in liver, kidney and express the activity of 5α-reducatase in prostate.
