Take a moment, put down your pencil or pen, close your textbooks and notebooks and ask yourself this question:What is more important:only learning new language,or reviewing previous lessons? All too often we get caught up in the idea that we need to learn as many new vocabulary terms, grammar rules and sentence structures as we can each and every day that we can forget to look back and review what we learned previously.Just why is this important? There is an old saying that says it best with:If you don’t use it,you lose it.  相似文献

Ibsen’s A Doll’s House is regarded as a kind of "canon". As the play shares an open ending, many critics seem to try to find a way out for Nora. Nora is supposed as the first woman to pronounce the "Women Declaration of Independence". She has become the most courageous women for fighting an equal place in family. However, this paper focuses mainly on the comparison between Nora and Kristine the relatively less popular character. Kristine plays a role of girlhood friend of Nora as well as the one who solves the debt problem and brings a new problem into Nora’s family. She serves a model for Nora. Ibsen writes Nora as she is, but it is Kristine who leads Nora onto the road of finding herself. Through the image of Kristine we can conclude that Nora might have all kinds road to tread before her but each one leads to a home-her true home.  相似文献

An Apple Seed
I realized I was holding an apple seed in my hand.It could become a beautiful big tree and grow thousands of apples in its lifetime. Each apple has several seeds that could grow a new tree, but why then the world isn’t filled with apple trees? It is a rule of nature that only a few of these seeds grow. And it’s quite often so with our dreams.Wonderful ideas come to our minds but they die too soon.We don’t take care of the little saplings, and we don’t protect them as we should. And then one day we wonder what happened to our dreams.  相似文献

The old saying that you should live each day as though it'syour last is a nice sentiment, but it doesn't work.Takeit from me.I tried it once and here’s what I learned:if Ipursued only happiness and lived just for the moment,I’d be a poor husband and father,a waster with a perpetualthree—day growth on my chin.Cancer taught me that.Suf-fering,I learned,is as essential to a good life, and as inex-tricable,as bliss.  相似文献

The essay expounds the philosophy of Thoreau’s "simplify" in aspect of meaning and reason.Closely connected with the relationship between human and nature,it enables us to see the point of a brooding, simple and sensible life of Thoreau. The end clarifies on a question:according to Thoreau, what is to have a simplify life? That’s to care for little, listen to one’s heart and do what one likes. The conclusion comes with an advocation that people keep a simple life with little greed, and take it as an ulti mate cure for the bothering life of today.  相似文献

As we all know, William Faulkner shows really concern for the Southern people, especially the Southern women who suffer the most. In Faulkner’s works women characters play an important role, which is confirmed. After the theories of feminist literary come to understand Faulkner criticism, critics to Faulkner’s novels drafting an encouraging response detect the author himself either as a pro-feminist or a misogynist. On analyzing the woman characters through Addie and Lena Grove—the women images in As I Lay Dying and Light in August, we found out that Faulkner is neither simple a pro-feminist nor a misogynist in the patriarchal society.  相似文献

Nowadays, the fairy tales have been on hot discussion. Some say that the very original Grimm’s fairy tales is capricious that we may be more cautious whether it’s suitable for children. With the rethinking of fairy tales, many other scholars argue that the fairy tales can be valuable with its hidden German customs in the original version and the current versions are acceptable to children. The hot discussion raises our thinking. This new discussing wave may indicate something at a degree that the Grimm’s Fairy Tales is worthy going deeper to study. We think that the Grimm’s ferry tales is valuable for its pure essence and the German culture it hides that even adults should read it. Children can read the current version of Grimm’s Fairy Tales with their innocence, getting the basic judging system of good and bad. The core question is that Adults also should pick it up. That’s because usually people will find that all the experiences and reasons can be dated back to the simple truths in fairy tales. Meantime, the Grimm’s Fairy Tales reflects lots of unthinkable customs and culture. The only thing we need to do is try to find new aspects and directions to explore the classic. With the spiritual and academic help, shouldn’t the Grimm’s fairy tales be necessary for both children and adults to read?  相似文献

When to immerge students in the target language community is a hot issue debated by many researchers through the whole linguistic and second language research history. While as far as my hypothesis concerned,I argue that it’s a better way for second language learners to learn some basic language skills before getting involved in that language community, including the target culture, fundamental second language skills, and first language abilities.Meanwhile,I demonstrate my argument from four aspects:age factors, first language factors, cultural factors and motivational factors. And I argue that English learners receive late immersion perform as well as or better than children in early immersion programs, since there is a direct relationship between native language and second language learning. As long as second language learners are literate in their first language, then their abilities in first language can facilitate the second language learning and can discipline themselves in the process of how to learn a second language.Meanwhile, transmitting cultural knowledge plays an important role in second language learning, and the most suitable approach is to do preparing transmission before students entering the real cultural community,i.e.the preparing work should be done before students getting involved in the language community;otherwise they may catch the cultural shock and are reluctant to explore the target culture. This paper aims at finding a most comfortable and preferable environment for learners to learn a second language and providing parents who are planning to send their children abroad some feasible advice.  相似文献

Welcome to Bilingual Time's new Photo Time columnl
My interest in photography began around 10 years ago with me crawling around in my darkened attic, spilling chemicals on the bare floorboards in the days before digital photography had really made an impact. And ever since then, it has held me captivated and left me always on the lookout for interesting new scenes to capture. So when I first saw China, I was naturally very excited. The sheer size of the country - its varied scenery and peoples, had me snapping away the moment I stepped off the plane. Since then I have travelled to various parts of China, always taking photos; sometimes pleased with the results, sometimes nearly sobbing over sheets of ruined negatives. I have met Chinese photographers everywhere whilst out and about - from tour groups of young and old who want to pose with a westerner, to the Nikon jacketed professional with his big tripod and enormous lenses. The one thing I have missed is meeting with and learning from those Chinese photographers similar to me - those for whom taking pictures is a hobby, and those who know there's still a lot to learn but are having a lot of fun trying.  相似文献

Linguistics is a necessary course for English-majors because it plays an important role in second language learning, teaching and research. It is significant, yet difficult to make this course comprehensible and interesting and get the students involved in and attracted by it. This paper intends to analyze and explore teachers’ roles in the course of linguistics from the following aspects: as an explainer, as an activator, as a co-learner, as a question-finder and as an enabler. Some examples are taken to show how to make use of comparison, contrast, instance, discussion, and practice for classroom management. What’s important for a teacher of linguistics is not only to understand linguistic theories and carry on linguistic research by him- or herself, but also to make his or her students get to know the nature of language and learn to do scientific studies of language by themselves.  相似文献
