Abstract

This meta-analysis systematically reviewed the most up-to-date literature to determine the effectiveness of reading interventions on measures of word and pseudoword reading, reading comprehension, and passage fluency, and to determine the role intervention and study variables play in moderating the impacts for students at risk for reading difficulties in Grades 1–3. We used random-effects meta-regression models with robust variance estimates to summarize overall effects and to explore potential moderator effects. Results from a total of 33 rigorous experimental and quasi-experimental studies conducted between 2002 and 2017 that met WWC evidence standards revealed a significant positive effect for reading interventions on reading outcomes, with a mean effect size of 0.39 (SE = .04, p < .001, 95% CI [0.32, 0.46]). Moderator analyses demonstrated that mean effects varied across outcome domains and areas of instruction.  相似文献

判断过失的客观说主要是以"第三人"的标准来判断行为人的行为是否违反安全注意义务。该"第三人"为法律虚拟的理性人。我国司法实践中在判断过失上采用客观标准可按照以下步骤:存在法律、行政法规及司法解释等法定标准时,先依据法定标准判断;在某些行业规范中规定了特定行业和执业人员行为标准时,这样的行业标准可以补充法定标准作为判断过失的依据;在寻尽以上方法后,才能运用"理性人"的标准,结合具体案件中主体行为能力、社会专业角色、有无突发情形这三种常见特殊情况判断。  相似文献

索债型非法拘禁行为是因索要债务引发的特殊行为,刑法及司法解释认为合法债务和非法债务都能导致非法拘禁罪。这一规定存在一些不足,应当对刑法及相关司法解释进行适当修改,将合法债务与非法债务区分开来,并且修改绑架罪的规定以纠正量刑不公问题。通过对债务、行为的具体分析对索债型非法拘禁行为进行定性。  相似文献

Teachers have been long concerned with the problem of detecting plagiarism. This study was undertaken to determine whether the cloze procedure might provide an objective, reliable, and practical method for detecting plagiarism. The objectives of the study were to: confirm that a plagiarism effect on cloze test scores exists; determine whether, if so, it is large enough to be of practical utility in detecting plagiarism; and, assuming a substantial effect is found, ascertain whether its magnitude varied as a function of the subject matter of the topic assigned, native language of the examinee, or race of the examinee. The results of this study comparing cloze test performances by plagiarists and non-plagiarists indicated substantial differences in error rates for these two groups. The data support the original hypothesis that the cloze procedure may be used as a valid and sensitive measure for discriminating plagiarists from non-plagiarists.  相似文献

The issue of sex discrimination in faculty employment has become a prominent legal and political concern, necessitating the development of objective empirical methods to determine the existence of patterns of discriminatory treatment. In this study, regression techniques are employed to apply the equal pay for equal work interpretation of the fair employment doctrine. Specifically, faculty promotion and salary policies at the University of Texas at Austin are analyzed to determine whether male and female faculty members are rewarded equally for equal academic qualifications and performances. This regression analysis tends to support the discrimination hypothesis with respect to both promotion and salary policies.  相似文献

Fifty-four elementary-age gifted students were administered the K-ABC. To determine construct validity of the test for this population, the factor structure was obtained for mental processing and achievement subtests and then compared to the factor structure obtained for children from the standardization sample via a procedure that determines factor structure similiarity between groups. Except for minor variations, the factor structure for the gifted children was very similar to that for nongifted children in the standardization sample. However, the most parsimonious structure accounted for slightly less than 40% of the shared test variance, which leads to questions about the advisability of educational program planning based on obtained scores.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The field of child protection needs reliable and valid methods of assessing the potential for child abuse and neglect. The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventory--2 (AAPI-2), Form B, using a sample of 309 low-income, rural families in a southern state. METHOD: The AAPI-2 is a 40-item survey designed to assess the parenting and child rearing attitudes of adult and adolescent parent and pre-parent populations. Each of the five AAPI-2 scales was (a) examined using factor analysis in order to determine the unidimensionality of the scale, (b) evaluated based on estimates of the scales reliability in order to determine the consistency with which the construct was measured, and (c) when possible, examined to determine if it is related to other constructs in meaningful and expected ways. RESULTS: While the factor structure reported by the developer was not fully confirmed in this sample, there is some evidence that the instrument is measuring at least two of the constructs it purports to measure and that the total score may be useful. Correlations with other instruments measuring parenting behavior and child behavior were significant, and in the expected direction, offering some support for the validity of the AAPI-2. CONCLUSIONS: While the AAPI-2 appears to measure attitudes related to harsh or neglectful parenting, caution should be used in the interpretation of the individual AAPI-2 scales.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the services required by students in special education programs and to estimate the cost of adequately funding special education in Taiwan. Questionnaires were administered to 300 special education teachers at the elementary school level to identify the services required. Thereafter, two focus group interviews were organized to determine the service categories and their cost. The results show that the costs for special education programs vary significantly according to severity of disability, and the weighting for mildly, moderately, and severely disabled students was found to be 3.7, 4.5, and 5.2, respectively. The costs also vary significantly according to the category of disability, and the weighting was found to range from 3.6 for emotionally disabled students and to 5.9 for hearing impaired students. These findings suggest that the current special education funding formula in Taiwan, which ignores these cost differences, should be revamped.  相似文献

积极应对学科知识的挑战是当前中小学教师亟待解决的问题。然而,学科成分在中小学教师职业标准中究竟是什么,尚无定论。研制教师专业标准的重要工作之一就是确定其中的学科成分。中小学教师专业标准中的学科成分也称为中小学教师的学科专业素养,它是以学科知识为载体、以概念理解和问题解决的思想为主线逐渐发展起来的一个体系,包含良好的学科观,对学科发展脉络的清晰认识,对学科核心内容的准确把握,对学科基础知识、基本技能和基本思想、基本活动经验的深刻理解以及良好的学科能力。就高中数学学科而言,教师专业标准中的学科成分不仅表现为对于高中数学核心内容的准确理解和恰当把握,而且包含对于数学发展脉络的清晰认识以及对小学数学、初中数学和大学数学中相关内容的准确认识。提高教师的学科素养,需要分层处理、综合实施。  相似文献

A future shortage of science teachers has been predicted, and since women are presently underrepresented in the sciences, they are a good potential source for future science teachers. Unfortunately women appear to become less interested in science as they continue in school. Because the classroom psychosocial environment has been shown to be related to learning outcomes, it may contribute to women's lack of interest in sciences. This study compared the classroom environments perceived by fourth grade, seventh grade and high school boys and girls in classes taught by males and females to determine if any perceptual differences existed. The three, two factor MANOVAS (teacher gender by student gender) showed no differences for fourth grade students, one for seventh grade students and three for high school students. The seventh grade boys and girls perceived classes taught by females as having more friction than classes taught by males and high school boys and girls perceived classes taught by females as being more difficult than classes taught by males. Further, for the high school students it appears that classes are perceived more favorably when the opposite genders are combined. These perceptual differences combined with role modeling may contribute to the lack of women in science. More research is necessary to determine causal relationships.  相似文献
