The scheme offers operational guides based upon identifiable behaviours in a number of technical subjects classified, for rating purposes, with cognitive, affective and motor‐manipulative taxonomies. Two dimensions are postulated for each taxonomy, (i) complexity and (ii) extensiveness. The stages are briefly illustrated by reference to skilled performance in a number of crafts. Instructions for using the rating schedule to derive three profiles relevant to attainment are provided. Interpretations of profiles are suggested, including a tentative method for aggregating numerical scores for comparison with established examination grades at ‘O’ level and CSE. The results from a trial run with a simple version of the scheme are reported and discussed.

Unemployment and underemployment have, for many years, been a social and economic problem for people with disabilities. This study looks at consumers’ perceptions of access to employment for people who are blind or vision impaired as one target group within the disability field. Using the Employment Access Questionnaire (EAQ), the perceptions of people who are blind or vision impaired were compared with the perceptions of people who are not blind or vision impaired (nondisabled). Results of the study indicated that people who are blind or vision impaired and people who are nondisabled view work as equally important in their lives. However, people who are blind or vision impaired reported that they were significantly less satisfied with career development and services and training opportunities as compared with their peers who were nondisabled. A factor analysis of the data gathered from 85 blind or vision impaired and 84 nondisabled participants revealed a four factor structure for the EAQ. These results are discussed with reference to previous work in this area and suggestions for future research are proposed.  相似文献

Faculty play an essential role in providing access for college students with LD. Though many recommendations exist in the literature for educating faculty about their roles regarding students with LD, it is unclear whether these strategies are actually addressing faculty needs. To examine this issue, the evolving role of faculty is discussed. Current practices in faculty education pertaining to college students with LD are reviewed. Discrepancies between the evolving faculty role and current faculty education practices are examined. Guiding questions are proposed for expanding faculty education efforts and models to keep pace with the evolving faculty role in providing access for college students with LD.  相似文献
