The number of private higher education institutions in post-communist Eastern Europe has risen spectacularly since 1989. In some countries, private-sector enrollments have neared one-third of total enrollment. This article traces the development of these private higher education institutions. The argument is that while their quality is currently varied, they are structurally much better suited to serve the post-communist world than are the rigid, cash-strapped public universities. However, they must first overcome certain challenges, such as a lack of prestige, that arise from their very identity as private-sector institutions. 相似文献

世界高等教育评价实践主要是在高等教育大众化进程中发展起来的,因此影响高等教育评价模式形成和发展的主要因素是高等教育规模的扩张和高等教育管理制度。本文从一个"二元二维"的高等教育评价模式分析模型出发,对三种比较典型的高等教育评价模式即保证模式、评估模式、认证模式的特点进行了分析。我们认为,好的模式应与高等教育系统发展相适应,模式研究的意义在于要充分发挥模式中好的一面,并规避缺点,以利模式的不断改进。 相似文献

This article engages with the question: what does the internationalisation of higher education in times of globalisation sustain and what should it sustain? We first consider, through literature on globalisation and Stier’s (Glob Soc Educ 2(1):1–28, 2004) work, limitations of currently prevalent perspectives on internationalisation in economic terms. We then offer a brief review of how sustainability is understood in higher education and articulate our own notion of educational sustainability. We flesh it out in reference to data reflecting ideas and activities constitutive of daily practices of internationalisation in one faculty of education. We contend that our sustainability frame of reference can expand opportunities to think critically about internationalisation and, more importantly, offers opportunities to see internationalisation in its complexity, and to re-think and reorder practices that are not in alignment with educational goals and values. 相似文献

Conclusion The panelists indicated that considerable progress is being made by such organizations as ACT and NCHEMS in identifying the domains of quality to be measured and particularly in devising unidimensional indicators of student progress. Few were able to cite comparable advancements in the development of multivariate techniques to assess the relation of student growth to other variables. Notable progress in achieving consensus on appropriate standards for measuring quality institutions or curricular programs within comparable institutions remains as a future task.Panelists were: William Toombs, Pennsylvania State University; Patrick Terenzini, State University of New York at Albany; Lois Torrence, University of Connecticut. 针对神经网络的结构特性、自适应和自学习功能,提出了基于BP神经算法建立的现代远程教育教学质量评价系统,确定了系统的数学模型,采用各评价指标作为其输入,教学效果作为输出,该模型具有收敛速度和网络的适应能力。实验结果表明:该数学模型克服了传统分析评价教学过程的复杂性,具有方便、准确、可靠、快速的特点,辨识精度较高。 相似文献

Abstract Worldwide the diverse ills in society are often seen as a manifestation of the weaknesses and poor quality of the education systems practiced, especially those founded on traditional approaches – highly disciplined patriotic regimens, with a great deal of memorisation and not much room for reflecting and questioning, in contrast to the contemporary education mission which seeks to produce free citizens, citizens who are free not because of wealth or birth, but because they can call their minds their own (Nussbaum, 1998). This paper critically explores both the basics of traditional education regimens, and the contemporary education mission as espoused by some renowned intellectuals, and concludes that a sound education system ought to cultivate humanity – a citizenry that can think critically, solve problems and apply new skills and techniques in diverse contexts, a citizenry that is knowledgeable about the care and wise use of the environment. 相似文献

High quality provision has been one of the key aims of the current reforms in higher educational institutions across the globe since the beginning of the century and the millennium. Consequently this has led to the increasing demand for quality assurance (QA). This report identifies those institutional processes and structures that support the development of an internal quality culture in the emerging private universities in Ghana. The study bases its understanding of “quality culture” on the definition which sees it as referring to an organizational culture characterized by a cultural/psychological element on the one hand, and a structural/managerial element on the other hand. If we take our educational activity as a process, then the process (the activity) requires inputs (information, materials), resources (people, equipment, space) and control (QMS) to produce outputs (products and/or services). QA then is a culture—a way of continuously aiming to improve and do better—and the private universities in Ghana are responding to this. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this article is to argue for the deconstruction rather than the decolonisation of the neocolonial curriculum. Globalisation facilitates the democratisation of higher education, which is now accessible to more people than ever before, but globalisation also facilitates the expansion of the ideological dominance of the Global North over the Global South by means of the neocolonial curriculum. Contemporary attempts to decolonise Global South curricula are proceeding very slowly. We propose an alternative, the deconstruction of the Global North curriculum, i.e. a radical change to the Global North curriculum that exploits the neoliberal imperative to maximise profit in order to undermine the neocolonial curriculum. We use two case studies – Frantz Fanon and Çi?dem Ka?itçiba?i – to demonstrate how the deconstruction of the Global North curriculum can be achieved, by the prioritisation of theory and practice that are sensitive to context. 相似文献

质量的提升是我国建设高等教育强国和人力资源强国的关键,对于高等教育质量不能仅仅理解为培养质量,还应包括系统质量.因而,高等教育质量观包括宏观的视角和微观的视角.依据大量的调查材料分析表明,我国高等教育系统质量不高的关键在于:高等教育系统的结构不够合理,表现为科类、形式、类型、层次以及分布结构与我国社会经济发展需求的失衡;微观上,人才培养模式与社会需求脱节,表现为培养目标、教学计划、教学内容以及培养模式(如产学合作等)诸方面未能与时俱进;同时,由于资源的约束,高等教育质量改进难以为继.鉴于以上分析,我国高等教育质量提升的关键在于:调整结构,转换模式,加大投入. 相似文献
