The traditional holidays in our house when I was a child were spent timing elaborate (精致的) meals around football games. My father tried to make pleasant chitchal(聊天) and eat as much as he could during half time. At Christmas he found time to have a cup or two of holiday cheer and don (戴上) his holly-shaped (形冬青叶状的) bow tie. But he didn't truly shine until Valentine's Day. I don't know whether it was because work at the office slowed during February or because the football season was over. But Valentine' s Day was the time my father chose to show his love for the special people in  相似文献

A Kite and Me
I have a good friend. It’s a beautiful bird. It can fly very high, but it can’t sing or eat. Why? Because it’s a kite. My mother bought* it for me when I was seven years old. When spring comes, I like flying the kite in the park with my friends. Look, there are so many kites in the sky, such as the bird, the butterfly (蝴蝶) and the fish. But my kite often flies the  相似文献

It was a busy scene in the street when the Spring Festival was drawing near. I was helping my wife sell the goods at her stand when there were too many buyers around. One old woman, with her both hands occupied, was picking out trousers all by herself. She was wandering which one to take. She spent so long in choosing that I lost patience. So I just left her alone and turned to greet another guest. At the same time I saw a group of guys walking towards our stand. I was glad that we could make a little more today before my wife whispered into my ear "WATCH OUT!". "WHY?" I asked loudly. "Shoo-." my wife held her finger up to stop me and rolled her eyes at me when she quickly covered the moneybag tightly. "What?" I still wanted to find out the reason when the guys stood around the old woman. The guest I served left without buying anything though he liked the item very much.  相似文献

Since high school I have always wanted to study in a country other than my own. However my parents always informed me that it was too expensive. This was until luck turned my way one day while I was at university. My advisor called me and asked me to go and see him as soon as possible. I just knew it had to be good news. I could barely stand the suspense and went to his office with a nervous happiness in my tummy My advisor told me that I had been offered a scholarship to study at Central W…  相似文献

Recently I was reminded of a story which my mother swears is trus (though she doesn't call me Bobby muchanymore):Back in 1958,when I was just past four years old,my parents gave me a young parakeet. My mother determinedthat our parakeet would learn to talk, and to this end sat at the microphone of a borrowed tape recorder for a full 1/2hour,saying over and over again:“Pretty bird!Pretty bird!Pretty bird!Pretty bird!...”and so on.The resultingtaped message was played for our parakeet at least once per day.For weeks. One of Mom's friends often dropped by for an early morning cup of coffee, and was well aware (due to the in-cessant taped message) of her attempts to teach our bird to talk. And one day, while the friend was at the kitchentable, the bird began to speak, but very quietly and indistinctly. She excitedly called my mother into the room, andtold her that the bird was trying to say something. The two women carefully leaned toward the parakeet's cage, andheard him say, very clearly now-“Bobby!Stop that!”  相似文献

My name is Zhang Rui.As my parents are both English teachers, I showed great interest in English even when I was a very little girl.Whenever my father was reading English, I always sat at the desk listening to him quietly. His reading sounded so interesting to me. Soon they began to teach me English and I learned quickly and happily. I studied English even harder after I got a chance to talk with an American. That took place when my father took me to the city of Jinan where I happened t…  相似文献

My grandfather was a teacher. He was the headteacher of a school for boys between the ages of thirteen and eighteen. I know that he was a kind and gentle man at heart, because when I was young(and he was old), he gave me presents, and sat me on his knee, and told me stories. But I believe the boys at his school were afraid of him.  相似文献

This essay is aimed at reflecting my English learning experience, which is divided into three stages:The first six years’of study as a junior and senior high school student, when I always got high scores in the exams.I thought I was a sucessful English learner at that time.Four years as an English major in a teacher’s college, where I found my English was as other people called "Chinglish".No matter how hard I worked I couldn’t talk freely with native speakers. As time went on,I got to know the phenomenon belonging to interlanguage fossilization of English learning. Two years later after I graduated from the university,I went to University of Canberra to study my Master degree, there I found the essential factors that could help me get over fossilization through enhanced motivation, increased comprehensible input and production of communicative output.  相似文献

Mother’s Love
Who gave birth to me 14 years ago. Of course, my mother. My grandma often tells me when I was just born, I looked so small and thin, only nearly 5 Chinese pounds. So doctors put me into a warm box for weeks. My mother came to see me everyday although she was weak. I can't feel my mother's love at that time but I can feel it from my grandma's words. I was so thin and small when I was a baby, so I was always ill in my childhood. A day of my sixth year, I didn't feel well and had a stomac…  相似文献
