Liu Hong： Chinese Lute Is My Best Love

Liu Hong, member of Tianjin Musicians Association and council member of the Pipa （Chinese lute） Academic Committee of China Traditional Orchestra Association, currently teaches pipa at Tianjin Music Conservatory. She is openminded and bold and vigorous in her work. Losing her father when she was only one year old, Liu, together with her two elder sisters, were raised only by her mother who is an elementary school teacher. As she liked singing very much, her music teacher at the elementary school recommended her to the choir of the city＇s children place. Unfortunately, the choir had no vacancy when Liu came. She therefore was transferred to the instrument class. There she began to learn pipa. Liu was not exceptional at all in the very beginning, but she liked pipa and practiced very hard. When the class entered into the advanced level, only five children were qualified for further study and Liu was one of them.

To celebrate the 65 years anniversary of Sino-Czech diplomatic relations, the Chinese 1 Cuhural Relics Exhibition was held in the worldwide known Prague Castle. ＂Thunderstorm＂ Touches Japanese Hearts

During 2006 China Culture Festival in Japan, the dassic drama production ＂Thunderstorm （third edition）＂ was presented by Beijing People＇s Art Theatre （BPAT） at Autumn Theatre of the renowned Shiki Theatre Company in Tokyo. This classic program, directed by Gu Wei and starred by such respected drama actors and actresses as Yang Lixin, Gong Lijun, Wang Ban and Bai Hui, attracted the audience with realistic stage design and original story plots. On September 10, 2014 a grand opening ceremony of＂China in the Eyes of Arab Painters＂, an exhibition on works of residence program tor Arab painters, took place at the National Art Museum of China. “The Image of China： Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Painting and sculpture” was recently on view at the National Art Museum of China, following its display at the Grand Palace in Paris this March, as an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic ties. The exhibition displays contemporarv works by 61 Chinese ink painters and 21 sculptors, representing the greatest achievements o[ the Chinese art communitv and dynamics of contemporary China.     

The Glorious Era Showcased on Canvas

The huge portrait of Deng Xiaoping, respected as the ＂chief architect of China＇s reform and opening up＂, is a landmark standina in the downtown of Shenzhen, the first city embarking on the road to reform and opening up in the late 1970s. In the end of last year, a miniature replica of this famous portrait was installed, accompanied by the slogan ＂adhering to the Party＇s fundamental guideline for at least 100 years＂, in the courtyard of the National Art Museum of China.     

URBAN SCULPTURE WORKS OF FAN WEN

Fan Wen, born in Linfen, Shanxi Provicc and graduated from the Sculpting Department of Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts, is currently member of China Sculpture Society and a professional artist working in the Institute of Sculpting Art of Sichuan Province. She holds such academic qualifications as the first-grade national level artist and the national registered artist for urban sculpture. Shc is also a resident artist in the art area of He Tang Yue Se （lotus pond in moonlight）.

Before the reform and open up policy was launched in the late 1970s, there was virtually no art trade in Mainland China.Since the 1980s, China＇s art market began to develop gradually. Since the early 1990s when art auction was allowed, private collection and art trade have continued to thrive. Cui Junmiao： Plucking Melodies of Youth

Cui was enrolled in Tianjin Theatre Academy in 1980 to study Zhongruan and Liuqin under the mentorship of master Zou Ke, She was also trained in several other string and percussion instruments such as Jinghu （Beijing Opera two-string violin）, Yueqin （moon guitar） and Sanxian （long-necked three-string lute）. She was admiMed by Central Conservatory of Music in 1989 and trained by a number of masters including Prof. Kuang Yuzhong, Zhang Dasen, Liu Xing and Zhang Xinhua. As the conservatory＇s first graduate in Liuqin, Cui was employed by China Radio Ethnic Music Ensemble in 1993.

Nanjing Fascinated by Arabic Charms

On June 27, 2006, the Arabic Arts Festival （Nanjing leg）, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Jiangsu Provincial Culture Department and Nanjing Municipal Government, was launched in Nanjing Culture and Arts Center. The Arabic Arts Festival, the first of its kind jointly presented by 22 Arab nations in China, was a significant cultural event following the establishment of China-Arab Cooperation Forum in 2004. Major activities of the festival were presented in Beijing and as the only leg besides Beijing, Nanjing host several large-scale performances of Arabic singing and dancing arts.     

Image of China： A Photo Exhibition to Document Contemporary Chinese Life

In June 2004, a grand photo exhibition entitled Humanistic China: A Documentary Perspective was held in the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC). The exhibition, co-presented by NAMOC and Guangdong Museum of Art andthemed on “humanistic China, individualistic China”, displayed 592 choice works which were selected from more than 100,000 photos shot by some 1,000 photographers in the past half century.

SHADOW PLAY CHERISHED AS INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

In celebration of ＂China Cultural Heritage Day＂, a comprehensive exhibition showcasing Chinese .shadow play masterpieces was held in June in the National Art Museum of China. Some 17,000 rare leather silhouettes used for shadow plays and collected by NAMOC was displayed for the first time in the history of NAMOC and shadow plays by folk troupes were presented in the museum for three days in order to give the audience an authentic taste of this timehonored art form.[第一段]     

A Rich Mosaic of Art: Taiwan''''s Water and Ink Paintings Displayed in Mainland

An exhibition on Taiwan's water and ink painting masterpieces were displayed in National Art Museum of China last November. The exhibition featured nearly 120 artworks by twelve artists from Taiwan, showcasing update painting accomplishments of Taiwan today. The exhibition was also hailed as a big art event in Mainland-Taiwan cultural interaction, following the exhibition of the same subjects by young Mainland artists held in Taiwan in 2004. Tibetan-style Woodprint Exhibited in China＇s Top Art Gallery

Woodprint is pronounced “Shiangba” in the Tibetan language. Shiangba features its own distinctive style, which makes it different from other forms of woodprint. Not long ago, an exhibition on Shiangba works was held in the National Art Museum of China （NAMOC）, jointly organized by the print art committee under the Chinese Artists Association, Sichuan Provincial Association of Artists and Aba Higher Normal School. It is the first exhibition on Tibetan-style woodprint ever held in China＇s top art gallery, which set a milestone in the history of Chinese painting.

On May 16, China-France Creative Design Forum, as an event within the framework of the International Conference for the Promotion of Chinese Cultural Products, was held in Shenzhen during the China （Shenzhen） Cultural Industries Fair.
