The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a teacher training program on teacher outcomes. The teachers’ knowledge and attitudes regarding inclusion, classroom management strategies, and their relationships with children both with and without disabilities were evaluated using self-report instruments. In addition, their classroom behaviors were evaluated by independent observers. The teacher education program included a variety of topics related to inclusion and effective strategies for inclusive classrooms. The data were collected prior to the education, after the completion of the program, and 6 months afterwards. The results indicated that the teacher program seemed to have moderate-to-large effects on all teacher outcomes, but the changes in their classroom behaviors were minimal. 相似文献

This article is about being and becoming a qualitative researcher in Turkey, a context with a distinctive quantitative tradition shaped by the post-positivist paradigm where qualitative research has not yet reached the mature stage it enjoys elsewhere. Exploring the challenges of swimming against the tide unattended and keeping going, it argues learning to do research is more about crafting an identity than it is about learning a set of tools and techniques. Rather, it is a process largely influenced by the context in which the researcher’s identity is shaped, one that is characterized by power dynamics and identity negotiations. This paper reports on an attempt to investigate Turkish primary school students’ interest in science by using their self-generated
questions. We investigated students’ interest in science by analyzing 1704 self-generated science-related questions. Among
them, 826 questions were submitted to a popular science magazine called Science and Children. Such a self-selected sample
may represent a group of students who have a higher level of motivation to seek sources of information outside their formal
education and have more access to resources than the students of low social classes. To overcome this problem, 739 students
were asked to write a question that they wanted to learn from a scientist and as a result 878 questions were gathered. Those
students were selected from 13 different schools at 9 cities in Turkey. These schools were selected to represent a mixture
of socioeconomic areas and also to cover different students’ profile. Students’ questions were classified into two main categories:
the field of interest and the cognitive level of the question. The results point to the popularity of biology, astrophysics,
nature of scientific inquiry, technology and physics over other science areas, as well as indicating a difference in interest
according to gender, grade level and the setting in which the questions were asked. However, our study suggests that only
considering questions submitted to informal learning environments, such as popular science magazines or Ask-A-Scientist Internet
sites has limitations and deficiencies. Other methodologies of data collection also need to be considered in designing teaching
and school science curriculum to meet students’ needs and interest. The findings from our study tend to challenge existing
thinking from other studies. Our results show that self-generated questions asked in an informal and a formal setting have
different patterns. Some aspects of students’ self-generated questions and their implications for policy, science curriculum
reform and teaching are discussed in this paper. 相似文献

This study investigated the effect of expertise-based training (XBT) on the quality of digital stories created by early childhood education (ECE) pre-service teachers. The participants of the study were 69 pre-service teachers from the ECE Department. The study was experimental, utilizing a static-group pre-test/post-test design, supported with qualitative data. Data were collected through analysis and evaluation of digital stories, open-ended questionnaire, and journals. During analysis, an independent t-test was conducted and open coding analysis was applied. The results showed that the XBT group teachers earned significantly higher scores on their digital stories than the traditional group. Moreover, the XBT group focused more on the details of digital story creation, such as emphasizing the purpose of the story during each component; choosing an appropriate tone of voice; using pictures, including characters as Pepe, Kayo, and The Smurfs; and defining key words then applying pictures accordingly. 相似文献

We reported macrolipasemia in a colon cancer patient during the chemotherapy period without any evidence of pancreatitis. A 52-year-old man formerly treated for papillary thyroid carcinoma had elevated a carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) concentration in the latest control and was diagnosed with colon cancer. Xelox chemotherapy (oxaliplatin and capecitabine) protocol was planned for six months. Interestingly, the lipase activities gradually increased from 30 U/L to 434 U/L, and exceeded three times the upper limit of the reference range (13-60 U/L). There were no symptoms of pancreatitis, and the abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan was also normal. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) recovery % values of serum samples gradually decreased and were 27% in the recent sample before the end of chemotherapy. Interestingly, the serum lipase activity fell a month after chemotherapy, and PEG recovery % increased (39%). We considered the following possibilities: (1) macrolipasemia due to chemotherapy drugs, (2) macrolipasemia due to antibodies against chemotherapy drugs. 相似文献

This qualitative case study aimed to investigate Early Childhood Education (ECE) pre-service teachers’ perception of development in their technological, pedagogical, content knowledge (TPACK) after designing educational computer games for young children. Participants included 21 ECE pre-service teachers enrolled in the course Instructional Technology and Material Design. The data were collected through focus group interviews, observations, and journals. The results indicated a perceived improvement in TPACK. Moreover, participants described initial difficulty designing educational computer games since they had limited technological knowledge (TK), design knowledge (DK), or experience designing educational computer games (TPACK). However, during the game design, specific TPACK was disseminated, and participants reported increased abilities in using technology and designing computer games for educational purposes. 相似文献

This study examines the effects on normal children of the presence in the family of siblings with disabilities, attempting to measure both their level of stress and attitudes towards disability. The stress level and attitudes towards disability of normal siblings of children with disabilities (SCD) and siblings of normal children (SNC) were compared in terms of gender, family size and educational level. The stress level was measured by Holroyd's Questionnaire on Resources and Stress; attitudes towards disability were examined by Attitudes Towards Disabled Person Scale. 60 subjects participated in this study; 30 of them were SCD and 30 of them were SNC. t-test was used for data analysis. Results revealed a significant difference between the stress level of SCD and SNC. However, no significant difference was found between two sibling groups' attitudes towards disability. Also, gender, family size and educational level showed no significant difference either on the stress level of both sibling groups nor on their attitudes towards disability.This study is based on the master thesis of the first author. 相似文献

The purposes of this study were to determine preservice physics teachers’ instructional beliefs and to investigate the relationship
between their beliefs and practices. The theoretical framework was based on the combination Haney & McArthur’s (Science Education, 86(6):783–802, 2002) research and Ford’s (1992) motivation systems theory. A multicase study design was utilized for the research in order to focus on a belief–practice
relationship within several examples. Semistructured interviews, observations, and preservice teachers’ written documents
were used to collect data. Results showed that most preservice teachers held instructional beliefs aligned with constructivist
philosophy. Some of the preservice teachers’ beliefs were consistent with their practices while some of them presented different
practices from their beliefs in different placements. 相似文献
