3D技术是体育电视发展的必然趋向。运用传播心理学的方法,通过心率监测仪等器械的实证研究,我们对受众对3D和2D的体育节目观测体验进行了对比研究。虽然仍有很多人对这一技术存在疑问,但研究结果证明3D体育转播的前景仍然是值得期待的。     

E‐learning in higher education: some key aspects and their relationship to approaches to study

While there has been systematic and on‐going research into e‐learning in universities for over two decades, there has been comparatively less evidence‐based research into how key aspects of e‐learning are internally constituted from a student perspective and how these aspects might be related to university students’ learning experiences. The purpose of this paper is to explore key aspects of e‐learning that might be related to university student approaches to study, so that a better understanding of the internal structure of these aspects is achieved. Student responses to surveys are analysed at the level of each item to identify which items made the most sense to over 200 third‐year economics students. Data was also analysed both at the variable level, to identify which items coalesce to determine the structure of e‐learning variables, and at the student level, to see if there were groups of students in the sample that shared similar experiences of e‐learning when it was used to support a predominately campus‐based learning experience. The results suggest several implications for improving particular aspects of the student experience of e‐learning when it is used to support a campus‐based experience.     

Assessing ozone damage to cutleaf coneflower in an ozone bioindicator garden

To collect data on ozone pollution and foliar damage, we established the first Philadelphia Ozone Bioindicator Garden at The Franklin Institute Science Museum. In this paper, we examine the relationship between ozone concentrations in an urban environment and changes in foliar damage in cutleaf coneflower (Rudbeckia laciniata) plants. Higher ozone concentrations were observed during Summer 2015 than during Summer 2014 at our site. Diurnal analysis reveals a nightly diminishment of ozone's rate of dissipation around 4am, which we attributed to intrusions of air from the residual layer (the layer of air above the boundary layer). We saw that visible foliar injury starts relatively slowly and accelerates beginning in late July for stippling and early August for chlorosis and necrosis. We found that injury ratings on ozone-damaged leaves progress faster later in the season despite lower ambient ozone concentrations; we hypothesized that this is evidence of a “latency period” in the cutleaf coneflower's foliar injury response to ozone. Cutleaf coneflowers may serve as engaging tools to alert and inform Philadelphians about air quality issues. Our results suggest that these plants are good candidates for future work in developing bioindicators of ozone where direct monitoring is not feasible.     

The establishment of an academic health sciences library in a developing country: a case study

The development of a Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS) and an academic health sciences library for the University of the West Indies (UWI) has proven to be a polemical and political issue due to the depressed economy of the country. Although FMS is still shrouded in politics and controversy after its inaugural year, the Medical Sciences Library (MSL) has expanded its dimensions and is actively developing a biomedical information network within the country. This will result in better dissemination and control of biomedical information. The library now participates in joint projects with other health sciences libraries in the country with the goal of joint automated listings of holdings and shared cataloging projects. This paper examines the development of the library and explains the difficulties experienced in its developmental stages due to politics, the delay in appointment of a medical sciences librarian, and the financial decline in the local economy.
