The effectiveness of multicultural training among a sample of predominately Hispanic counseling students was examined. The results of a series of 2‐factor repeated measures analysis of variance and follow‐up paired‐samples t tests suggest that multicultural training was effective in increasing students' multicultural competencies and in improving their cognitive racial attitudes. Students' affective racial attitudes were not changed. Students' perceptions of their multicultural training suggest that students from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds may experience multicultural training differently and unique life experiences may help explain this difference. Counselor educators may wish to use a variety of training experiences to provide multicultural training that is effective across diverse student populations. 相似文献

In a world of supercapitalism, the tensions between business and public interests are expected to rise, thereby calling corporations
to assume new roles in society. In response to this trend, corporations will be in demand of an innovative kind of leadership
exercised at all levels by a new breed of ethical, reflective and creative decision-makers. Among the qualifications involved
in developing the leadership skills of these decision-makers, the MBA stands out as a world’s leading one. However, empirical
research conducted in English and French business schools indicates that MBA curricula are not typically designed to provide
participants with a broader understanding of leadership that could fully engage them in their learning experiences. To improve
this situation, MBA lecturers and curriculum developers need to broaden their educational agenda by means of a reconceptualisation
of leadership studies. Drawn from the empirical findings mentioned above and the work of Barnett on criticality, this paper
proposes a pedagogical framework for leadership studies that involves three levels of leadership criticality combined with
the three domains of critical beings. The objective is to provide a basis for the development of appropriate learning activities
that will encourage MBA participants to strive towards developing themselves as critical beings namely, to think and act in
such a way that the societal imprint of corporations will be more ‘attuned’ with the ideals of democracy, social justice,

Research focused on Latinas/os in higher education often examines patterns of failure, while neglecting factors that contribute to Latina/o generational familial success. This article focuses on intergenerational strategies taught within college-educated Puerto Rican households that assist in academic achievement and success in higher education. Delgado Bernal theorized pedagogies of the home to explain co-constructed cultural knowledge within Chicana/o households to challenge deficit perspectives. Through analysis of educational oral histories of four college-educated Puerto Rican families, pedagogies of the home are extended. The Puerto Rican college-educated children demonstrate sin pelos en la lengua (without mincing words), contradictions among college completers, and pa’lante siempre pa’lante (always moving forward) as strategies employed in navigating higher education. In rearticulating, pedagogies of the home for the Puerto Rican community, institutions of higher education can better respond to the various experiences of Latinas/os. 相似文献

Photovoice methodology was used to examine and promote body image resilience. Fourteen female college students participated in a 2‐part group series. Photovoice projects and other artifacts were analyzed. Three themes related to body image resilience emerged from the data analysis: connection, social gender norms, and self. This study contributes to the growing body of literature by examining photovoice as a creative approach for critically discussing body image resilience.
