This paper explores the evolving perceptions of community sentiments, for three teachers and 36 AS-level students on a week-long residential fieldtrip. For this in-depth study I adopted an ethnographic methodology in which I participated in, observed and recounted some of the complex and fluid spatial arrangements and processes, analysing their influence on social relationships and attitudes to learning at a UK residential field study centre. Whilst seemingly offering a different and more informal educational setting from school, I argue that the accompanying teachers attempted to influence proceedings through spatial management to meet some of their explicitly declared aims for the trip. Furthermore I argue that the physical isolation of the centre, together with the deliberately managed exclusion of external influences, effectively created a bounded setting, thereby temporarily replicating some of the characteristics associated with traditional notions of community. Within this teacher-shaped environment evolving relationships linked to the new place setting, together with impromptu communitas moments, contributed to community sentiments in line with more contemporary interpretations of the concept. 相似文献

The purpose of this study is to determine which of the following factors influence children's online communication: parent–child communication (PCC), social self-efficacy (SSE), and unwillingness to communicate (UTC). To examine children's online communication, the researchers obtained survey data from 425 elementary school students in South Korea and tested a hypothesized structural model using EQS/Windows. The findings suggest that open communication between parents and children is associated with higher levels of SSE and lower levels of UTC among children. According to the two variables, open PCC has an indirect influence on interactive communication in online communities. Overall, this study offers meaningful results indicating that children's interactive online communication is influenced by their characteristics of interpersonal communication resulting from open PCC. 相似文献

Purchasing recently published books rather than requesting them through interlibrary loan provides rapid service to patrons and builds the collection with relevant materials that circulate at least as much as books purchased through traditional methods. This article is a case study of how Joyner Library at East Carolina University has used interlibrary loan to purchase requested titles from 2006 through 2014 and provides an analysis of the results. It is frequently observed that the price at which a firm's stock is listed for its initial public offering (IPO) is considerably less than the price at which it trades at the end of its first day of trading, a phenomenon known as underpricing. This article examines how media-provided information affects IPO underpricing and trading turnover. The empirical findings show that the more media coverage a firm receives over a substantial period of time prior to its IPO, the smaller the degree to which its stock is underpriced. However, more media coverage immediately prior to the IPO date increases the degree of underpricing. It is also shown that the tenor of media coverage affects the relations between the volume of near-term, pre-IPO information provided by media and both underpricing and trading turnover. 相似文献

This study examined how past information-seeking experience influences individuals’ information-seeking decision process following an event that increases uncertainty in close relationships. To examine this issue, a two-wave, cross-lagged, panel-design study was conducted, and outcome expectancy, communication efficacy, and information-seeking were measured at each time. Analyses revealed that communication efficacy mediates the link between outcome expectancies and information-seeking under the conditions of uncertainty. The results also suggest that communication efficacy and information-seeking impact each other cyclically. The findings of this research suggest that scholars should focus on people's information-seeking experience and communication efficacy when examining information-seeking following events that increase uncertainty in close relationships. 相似文献

文章首先论述了大学图书馆机构重组的可行性、必然性和必要性;欧美先进国家大学图书馆的发展情况,现代通讯及计算机技术的迅猛发展,传统的机构模式已不适应当前中国教育改革形势;接着回顾了近年来处于重组过渡期的中国大学图书馆的现状;最后重点描述了21世纪中国大学图书馆在宏观与微观上的几种重组模式,并对图书馆内的机构重组模式设想作了重点描述。认为以组建图书馆集成化系统为目的的重组机构是中国大学图书馆发展进程中一项重要战略决策。论文最后指出:观念陈旧、人员素质不高、条件尚未具备是中国大学图书馆机构重组过程中的主要阻力,在机构重组的设想与实施过程中,馆级与校级领导起到“一夫当关,万夫莫开”的关键作用。 相似文献

为了选择最优的边界,采用交叉验证方法,将取得错误率最低的上下文边界确定为上下文最优边界,并应用此方法对SemEval-2007中文数据集进行处理,得出此数据集的上下文最优边界为[-2,+2].为了验证其结果的有效性,进一步采用SemEval-2007测试集进行消歧测试,结果表明采用交叉验证法确定的最优边界对词义消歧准确率有一定提升.同时对不同词性歧义词的最优边界也进行讨论. 相似文献

This year marks the 25th anniversary since action learning (AL) was first introduced in 1993 in South Korea. Although AL has greatly contributed to meeting organizational needs so that it would result in its strong presence as an organizational learning tool, there is no single review study on the development of AL practice in Korea. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to examine the development of AL practice in Korea to understand its current state and envision the future. To that end, two research questions guided our inquiry: What are the distinctive features of the development of AL practice in Korea? What is unique about the development of AL practice in Korea? To answer the two research questions, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 13 AL practitioners who have experienced AL practice for many years, analyzed 13 annual AL conference proceedings published since 2005, and reviewed Korean publications on AL published since 2000.
